The gardaí make me sick. Our house was being robbed and they did nothing. When we called them hours after they said they were going to come to see what was taking them they said "well maybe we won't come out then" because we spoke angrily to them. But of course, they came out to look at the burnt out car a few metres down the road but wouldn't bother their arse to go to our house. Too much paperwork.
Unfortunately, when you need them, gardai are always unavailable... We had burglars in the house (actually surprised them at their work, and even though the garda station was in sight of the house and there were three patrol cars available, they only came out three and a half hours later, when the burglars (four men armed with shotguns) had completed their work, completely ransacked the house and set fire to it...
Well, I had it taken up even by the British Embassy - it is a fact that happened near Navan. And before you insult anyone, get your facts right. I was there and lost the value of the house and all its contents - insurance won't cover because the names of the burglars are known and insurance expect me to claim the damage from them first...
I went down to the station in Killarney and the Guard who was supposed to be out on traffic duty was out back cooking bacon and cabbage for their dinner. That's true! We had great craic about it. And that is why I LOVE Ireland.

very funny video. gardai have a very tough job and deserve the respect from all parts of the community. we are lucky to have such a good police force. i lived in the states for 15 years and only when i returned i realised how fortunate we all are to have them.

They're not doing anything wrong here. They're havin a laugh, I'm sure you have a laugh even when your workin from time to time, fair enough a lot of the time all they seem to do is issue speeding tickets but ya know wat they don't all have a handy job. the gardai are a joke , they are corupt [ this i have seen examples of on many ocassions] also the only reason young people train up for the guards is because its a permanent job , the easy way out of life, or so they think.I have no respect for the Irish gardai and especially not for gardai who break the laws they are supposed to be enforcing!!!!

Someone has to do it. Force as big as they are of course your going to have problem officers. I've seen some guards who were corrupt as fuck, but then I knew others who took their job seriously and did it well at that - I can give examples of either scenerio

Most people in Ireland have no respect for the Irish Police. What you've said is very true. Most Gardai have 3rd level Qualifications but rather than show a bit of guts and go out and search for a job in their qualification, they take an easy option and join The Guards. I also wonder if there is a tick-box question on the application form "Are you as rude as fuck with no people skills". If you tick yes, you're in.
