@WhitemageSerenia Actually, your rank is higher if you finish Ifrit with the timer as low as possible.

In other words if you choose the 30 min timer, and end ifrit with 10 seconds left, you'll get a higher rank than the 10 min timer with 3 mins left.

Having 300 tornados and 300 thunderagas helps before dollet ^^

Tornados: play triple triad and get abyss worm cards, card mod those into windmills, refine windmill using lightning/wind refine into 20 tornados

Thunderaga: triple triad, blitz cards, card mod into... dynamo stone? and then use lightning wind refine to get 20 thunderagas

For Ifrit I just went crazy with squalls limits. oh and getting water from the fish fins as future says is a great plus. Only cus you have str junction. Gives great bonus's to that. Or mag whichever you want that character to be doing.

you can get water from the fish on the beach refine the items they drop using shivas water/ice magic refine.  think the items are called fish fins

Ifrit for the fist boss can be very annoying and can take several hit's to beat if you don't use Sevi. I think the summon does like 200 to 705 HP of damge with each attack if you press the button enough to raise damage during the time limit. The higest it can bost for shiva is 250 if you press the button ultra fast.

It also depends on how much see been used prior.

The other attacks will do less depending on how much you've leavel up your no summon charaters like Squall

There's something I'm curious about... it's a glitch in the Japanese ver. of the game, a Junction Magic glitch... it's like... you can junction the same magic to different attributes, without taking it off.

I want to know if it works in the US version. (PS3)

@terminator232 There are plant-like monsters in the training area, you can draw sleep off of those, which comes in handy for dealing with the T-Rex's.

Also, on a side note, when you go to carry out the assasination of the sorceress after talking to General Caraway, she CAN be inflicted with sleep status... which is odd, but hey, you can steal good magic off her, so it helps.

FF 8 is one of my favs but I never fully understood the Junction system at all so this is great stuff man. its one of the more confusing battle systems to me

I believe at this point, you can also get shiva's refine skill, and get items from the same enemies on the beach for aqua magics, with 100 of those you can get quite a lot higher stats at this point.

Why did you not get water at the very least, which is rather easy? You can even get some good card refining items to get the -aga spells or better (Tornado anyone?)

Tornado increases your stats more than any -aga spell (easily gotten from windmills by refining abyss worm cards)

the best thing about final ffantasy 8 is that as you level up so do the monsters and that helps you in the long run in terms of Exp and magic you can steal.

Almost never used GFs in this, summons took too long :p. Junctioned attacks were overpowering anyway.

I love the way Ifrit looks on FF8 it always been a tye between him & Bahamut on which is my fav summon but as for just FF8 my fav on here would have 2 be Diablous(or wutever)who's ur fav summon on 8 and of all time?

My video shows you how to get perfect marks (100) toward your SeeD rank. You need to finish Ifrit with 0:00-0:07 left on the clock.

You can always just finish him with any amount of time you want, leave the game on the post-battle screens for at least that amount of time, and then come back. You won't get a game over if the timer runs out after the battle.

You can't earn money at this stage of the game (without selling items). That's like two bosses away before you can earn any normally.

I don't worry much about how much magic I have in early game, also the level, since the game adjusts to your level I stayed a bit weak to not have much trouble with diablos later on etc.

Also, juntion doesn't get that interesting till you get spells like, ultima, full life, esuna, holy etc etc etc xD

I saw this post on some Final Fantasy forums once and the title was "XXX - lookin' good!", I replaced the name with XXX but it was the name of the final boss of this game. Here it is 7 years later and I still find myself saying that when something goes my way, except I add another "Lookin' good" before it so it's "Lookin good, XXX, lookin' good." It sounds perfectly normal to me even though it probably sounds retarded on here.

I should probably point out that the biggest reason I started quoting that was because I thought it was hilarious that someone actually thought XXX looked "hot" or whatever when you never really see them in FMV form, just polygons. Then it turns out there's like three frames of XXX in FMV form in the ending, they flash by in like 1/10th of a second but they're there.
