There were only five George Olsen Columbia records issued late 1933-early 1934.
Apart from "The last round up", they are seldom seen (or heard). A real treat to hear this lovely version. Originally featured in the Charles "Buddy" Rogers film, "Take a Chance".
@jackpaynefan I was very pleased to find this record. I'd been after any version of this song for more years than I care to remember...picked this up in E+ condition made my day, month, year!! Its one of those you just don't seem to see. I suppose with the depression in full swing record purchasing wasn't high on the list of peoples priorities.
This is authentic "fidelity fiter" effect old time material; not fake-ass remakes from higher fidelity equipment of today.
Theres nothing like hearing old time records. I altered many recordings to have this "fidelity filter" effect, and submitted them to my channel. Gotta check 'em out.
@Edisonfans19 - thanks Paul. All my records were packed up for the move but now we are settled in New Zealand I have started to unpack and putting up some more music. There will be more later in the week as time permits.
Olsen's band had a wonderful,big,mellow sound. A classic standard-beautifully played.
Just for the record I don't think the vocalist is Bob Borger.
