Heck,my own name is an old fuddy duddy name, after my late grandma who died young.Today parents are doing that, naming their kids with old family surnames.
I did think of Hattie McDaniel when I saw your screen name........a lovely name though.....hardly Fuddy Duddy.......sounds graceful to me.....best wishes
I don't recognize the singers.......I think it was a special version done just for the show. Charles Schultz was very much associated with skating.....maybe someone else can help? best wishes
yes, it can seem sad at times....but we are all better off for our efforts!! even if they seem unproductive at times......like Bear says in Jungle Book, "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative!!" Best wishes .....
Yes, so many wonderful things seem to 'expensive' or 'difficult' to do anymore. Where is the Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland, "Let's Put On A Show" mentality! Lost to better days I suppose....thanks for commenting, best wishes
Don't forget number 4, Skippy Baxter, inventor of the back flip!!! A US bronze medalist in the early 40's (I think, let me check). A bronze to Dick Button's gold!!!
there is quite an interesting PBS special about charles schultz. catch it sometime if you can....his daughters were involved with skating, and he owned an ice show. also built the redwood empire arena...was odd to see video of it new and shiney!!! they lived a rather typical suburban california life back in the 70's!! seems like he had trouble with depression late in life though, unfortunately...best wishes
So great to see these up on you tube. Thank you!! My Mom skated with the Ice Follies in the 60's. I grew up knowing Mr Frick,Dick Dova, Colin Beatty, I knew at least one of the Snoopys..lol and Richard Dwyer actually introduced my Dad to my Mom. These clips are special because I actually remember seeing them live as a kid!!
What wondeful stories!! thanks for sharing them....I do sooo miss the ice shows. I don't know why they can't come together once a year for a TV special...best wishes
Glad its bringing joy.....It is one of my more popular posts! Do you have some connection to this piece, or Snoopy on Ice? I have some 70's roller skating as well, perhaps I can post it somewhere for you????
What a weird name,Atoy?!!!! I had read about a book on Charles Schultz and he wasn't a nice man.He suffered from years from depression.

Perhaps not 'weird'!, but unusual.....unique. It was more commom around 100 years ago, 1880's - 1920. I am sure it is a family name....best wishes

@13eds The singers are Larry Finlayson and Becky Reardon.
I worked as a composer for Charles Schulz for years, and he was an incredibly nice man, and yes, he was depressed.

:-( Man I wanted to cry... Never knew when he died. Guess he died at a very old age. But he still looked young and still very loveable!:-)
