  • You go reading all the comments.Guess you neet to get a life. I am entitled to MY opinion. So who's sad.

MY OPINION Elkie owns this song. Get over it.

  • @Jackie1957able You sure is entitled to your opinion. BUT we do not need a bunch of desperate folks like you to proclaim how good Elkie is posted on every "don't Cry Out Loud"youtube of other versions. We have never heard of who Elkey is and in our opinion, Melissa's and Rita Coolidge's versions are the BEST. Go get a life.

  • @DCOL Well guess what I have NEVER heard of M.M. or R.C. Guess you are the desperate one as your lack of education is soooo obvious. W.T.F. WE ,OUR . Who the hell are you refering to , in your sad dillusional world. You just kep reading ALL the comments on youtube. Guess YOUR life is sooooooo lacking. End off. BYEEEEEE .LOL

  • @Jackie1957able I shall not waste my time with you...what a crude fan of ekee resorting to using crude words. Giving a bad name to elkee & all her fans.

  • Elkie Brooks sings this soooooooo much better. This is soooooooo cabaret.

  • @Jackie1957able Go get a life. It seems you go to every Melissa Manchester youtube proclaiming how great this Elkiee's version is. How sad.In my opinion, None comes close to Melissa Manchester's version & interpretation of this song. This song is truly Melissa's.

  • so not melissa manchester......

  • this is not melissa.. if it is where is she..

  • Can't see Melissa

  • Melissas voice is beautiful but the message advocating suppressing emotions doesn't sound good to me

  • Hello from Paris/France . Did you hear Dame Shirley Bassey perform this song ?

  • Comment removed

  • @Dadoox92 Yes, terrible.

  • Nice. I feel the version by Elkie Brooks has more feeling.

  • all i got was bad graphics??

  • Very Sexy gifted singer.....If she kept the chorus to a whisper like she did near the beginning of the song, she might have stayed in key..Her opening up and belting it out like it's 1979 was off... Still has some good range though... Happens to all ... Aging is brutal on vocalist.... Midnight Blue Rules.

  • Elkie Brooks voice is still incredible.Saw her in concert December. Fantastic.

  • Well, the video doesn't seem to working. But at least I got to here the amazing Melissa Manchester. She is truly a one of a kind talent (and lovely, lovely lady). And this is one of her most beautiful renditions of the classic Peter Allen song. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us! :)

  • wonder what happened to it? I'll have to repost it somehow. thanks for letting me know.

  • I think maybe its in a old format or the server hosting it lost some data (lol its your data)

  • well....what can i say? after reading your billing of this act on the comments thread of the elke brookes version, i was expecting to be knocked senseless when i checked her out. she sounds like an elkie brookes tribute act for pensioners, that is, for the hard of hearing and fuzzy eyesight.

  • Pensioners? We don't use that word in the US...so you must be another Brit that love Elkie. I'm very happy for you.

  • Avoid the dreadful Eikie Brooks version if you can help it.

  • Damn..does she never age!! What is she eating??

By the way..no one can perform this song better than Melissa Manchester!!!

  • At age 16 Diana DeGarmo sang this song better on American Idol.

  • @Dianafan100 I don't think a 16 year old child has the life experience to do justice to this piece. She simply has not made it her own like Melissa Manchester, Elkie Brooks or Same Shirley Bassey have.

  • a more sentimental version.... i like it!

  • Melissa's version is the BEST.

As for the version that dizzi000 + francilius mentioned as the " tour de force", I think any old Monkey in heat that you randomly yank from the forest can sing better.....

  • Those of you who think Carole Bayer Sager's songs should be honored in a stage revue....RAISE YOUR HAND.

  • That's a great idea Juliaflo...Carole Bayer Sager is so very talented and wrote some really great songs with Melissa Manchester as well as others!

  • Did you people get a chance to see the musical The Boy From Oz?? That is the closest thing to a broadway musical of Carole Bayer Sager songs. I saw it twice. First time was 10 years ago and at that time i hadn't ever seen MM live so when they performed Don't Cry Out Loud i was so moved that well...i did!

  • Yes, I saw the Boy From Oz in Australia...what a great show! I do wish they had done of all of this song in that play. I was also hoping Melissa would be in the touring production! Thank you for your comments

  • Sager did just as much, maybe more, than David Foster.

  • Thanks for your feedback Madj628!

  • Melissa had a big hit with this song. Rita was just covering it.

  • Rita just covered this song but had many hits in her ownright. She didn't release don't cry out loud.

  • this would relly boost my self esteem

  • sad you haven't hear of her.

she's the original singer of the song ;)

but to each his own, i guess...

  • melissa manchester.

supposedly, it was offered to shirley bassey first, but she refused it as the song isn't her kind of song. so it was offered to manchester, who made big money from it ;)

so after the song made it big, shirley sang the song, too. elkie, et cetera soon followed...

  • Actually, it was originally recorded by the R&B group The Moments.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, it WAS recorded by The Moments and was released as a single. It's on their "With You" album.

  • The Moments did record this song. They were the first. They recorded it under its full title "(We) Don't Cry Out Loud."

  • A solid performance from the very talented Ms Manchester.

  • my friend did an awesome cover of this song tonight at our band concert, it was amazing

  • Great performance from the talented Ms Manchester...Who's Elkee??

  • some dumb bitch from the UK

  • Saddo? Ok...now I know you're fucked

  • WOW!!!

  • i love this song. we're singing it in choir at the moment it's so pretty

  • U must be a Brit. The rest of the world knows that Melissa Manchester ownes this song.

  • one in a million

  • I love ALL her versions of this song. She is just the best.

  • Yes..she's so awesome. Saw her last night in San Francisco...she still sounds amazing. This is my new handle for I got kicked off for copyright infringement before..aka hothogalex.
