  • only for right-handed version ???

  • dude i just know i would accidentally lift my thumb all the time and never be able to accomplish anything

  • CEEEWWWL

    fuck iphone

    my dick just got hard

  • fuck i want it.

  • I want this fucking phone

  • Does it lack driver support?

  • Looks quicky, gimmicky and slow. It seems to stutter. Will never catch.

  • @retepvosnul

You did notice it said "demo" right?

This is just their first one, so there will more than likely be improvements.

I think it looks pretty good, but I wanna wait and see before I judge.

  • @ARK6476 - it's not a real diary, it's more of a category, you know, organizer, tasks, to do list, calendar, birthdays, notes, blabla. but yes, I wouldn't keep that on my phone either. unless it has a way to erase it remotely in case i lost it. a service such as htc offers.

  • They should make the body look like a Chinese hand fan :P

  • Who keeps a diary on their smartphone?

  • This is so futuristic but nobody is selling those when people use Windows, Android and Apple, then nobody has balls to support this. Maybe somebody finds it again in year 2030 and he's like "why the fuck we used some fucking iphones when this was possible 20 years ago" :D

  • Nokia please adopt this kind of OS/UI or any OS/UI of the same kind if u want to keep on top of the market, otherwise make a big big big development or renovation with ur Symbian it so so so so traditional and unfriendly to use anymore!!! For me this is better than the Meego, specially if studied deeper and developed completely.

  • why not put those buttons to the right of the screen below the screen to make it ambidextrous?

  • Q2 this year? that was 2010. what happened ELSE?

  • Great!

  • This would have been the best UI for a smartphone. Unfortunately, they lack the financial resources so they had to junk the phone. However, they are still looking for partners to license their Intuition UI. I wish Google bought them or some other big company so I can have one of these awesome smartphone.

  • I THINK ITS GONNA BE A DUD.... WHERES THE CUSTOMIZATION

  • wooow

  • Looks cool

  • THATS AWESOME ..

REST IN PIECES ANDROID , APPLE

  • Other touch phone ui's looks same like in computers what are used with mouse but this is really designed to use with your hand. There's just no icons anywhere but it would be easy to ad those there

  • i can tell it has slight lag, maybe because its demo hopefully it gets better

  • ok, but how to get a root console on this ?

what about disabling all these ( annoying and ) cpu-consuming animations for longer battery ?

and i am assuming this is multitasking by default...

  • SICK!!!

  • hahaa the phone is alright but the functions are same....just like an normal touch phone

  • what if you don't have thumbs ??

  • used nose ja if you have other hand to if no hand used toe

  • WoooooooWo !!! Thats Gr8 ! ::D !!!

  • 4:03 wow, he knows brad pitt?

  • emh how about Maemo also

  • Haha, Brussels, Belgium

    i'm from belgium (:

  • GOOD PHONE BUT THE OS IS WHAT MAKES IT BETTER . IT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE DOWNLOADABLE ONCE THIS PHONE IS OUT FOR A WHILE, SO IM GOING TO STICK WITH MY HTC EVO

  • While this looks awesome, I dunno if I'll like it more that android.

  • the firts revolution is that off screen notification bar...simple but make a world of difference

  • When it comes out??

  • @ballballlin never, sadly. Looks like the OS might get used again though.

  • I'm so fuckin' want that phone, but what did the Emblaze do?

    Here's what it says;

"Emblaze, the company behind it, has announced that it's dropping any further investment toward the manufacturing of the device and will instead focus on licensing the ELSE Intuition platform and technology"

WTF!! Screw that!! Licensing my ass!

Can someone please beat the crap outta those people?

I guess we never gonna see this device for ourself, unless...

I would have buyed this, no doubt about that...

  • i'd definitely buy this. Anyone else?

  • Now thats a smart phone!!!

  • i like this operating system just needs some color tho

  • @jayguy173

Not at all, in fact I love the "TRON" look and feel of this phone.

    Simply kicks ass.

  • The thing is you have to scroll all the way back to the beginning to exit from a certain menu and go to the previous menu. HUGE minus point. People need to get over all this fancy UI stuff.

  • @nixisan Hey, it can still be fancy while it's useful. Why don't you try develope something yourself?

It's not gonna be continued, so this is your chance, if you have the knowledge, that is.

    No offence...

  • WOAH! Minority Report

  • @DiEndCrisisDecade It looks wicked man..

  • I would love this phone, and yah! i am left handed, how would i use it. is there like a setting for left hands or something

  • im left handed so ? i control my mouse with right hand :)

  • i'm left hand but for this phone i gona learn the right! Amazing!!!

  • fuck the left handers :D this os is fuckin unreal

  • Looks really cool! But what phone should i choose if i WANT a stylus with it? If im an artist.. and i would like to draw on the go for example in a train or something..? Are there any phones out there with a stylus option and some nice painting/drawing software?

And no.. im not getting a DS..

    PS. NO iPhone/iPod Please!!! :)

  • This is very nice. The most interesting and worthwhile interface I've seen in ages. And as far as left handed users go, I'm left handed when I write but I would have no problem with this interface. It's not like people who write left handed do everything left handed you know.

  • ANDROID FTW!

  • Here we are now in the middle of April 2010. When are they gonna release this phone?

  • this is pretty cool. it would be good if your could tap the side splay icons and use the inner edge to scroll it without being required to use the lift finger auto select function when your finger is in the info presented. I also like how it extends/retracts the info as you slide your thumb in/out while over the menu option. I have an iphone 3gs but would consider this a good option for my next phone. the win 7 phone just doesn't appeal to me; especially the internet explorer. i prefer Firefox.

  • Ahahah...If you lift your finger by mistake you got do it all over again...that system is a joke....Just because it is unique does not mean it is useful.

  • @abcborgess And what if you *tap* your finger by mistake on any other smartphone? Exactly. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's worse either. I'm sure you'd have to get used to it but it seems they really gave it some thought.

  • Is the menu configurable for left hand users?

  • @raja5117 According to them: no.

  • Windows and Mac can suck my left nut, LINUX FTW.

JK I have nothing againts Windows and Mac, its just linux is waaay better

  • @MasterZURG in your opinion ;)

  • @MasterZURG you cant run it

  • did you all notice the service provider..... T mobile ... is it me or were they sitting quietly and all of a sudden dropping the bomb on all the other mobile Network providers. They will have the fastest nationwide network by the end of 2010

  • for left-handed people, they could have it flip upside down

the physical buttons would still be weird though

i think the real flaw lies in the fact that you have to continue holding down your thumb in order to access things and do gestures while holding it down

what if you're moving around? it would be hard to keep your thumb on or off the phone

    also,

going through menus is hardly innovative or intuitive

it's NICE and i support linux, but unfortunately it's not something i see getting big

  • @TheLifeRuiner If that's the case, that ur moving around, then u can use the other menu. They have 2 menus. One for singel-handed operations and one with "Normal" view.

  • it looks all pretty n stuff, but the UI is not very intuitive.

  • wow, finally, innovation after the iphone

  • Anyone know the exect month this phone will be released in the US?

  • It's good but... what if you're left handed?

  • Comment removed

  • obviously this is not for the left handed people :/, too bad

  • @Xentradi97 I guess there should be an option to change to youre left.

  • @Xentradi97 there's gonna be a way to switch it to left hand, but there are permanent buttons on the right, for right handers that won't move. They wont make one exclusively for left handers.

  • @Xentradi97 that is prolly just a setting in the phone, cuz its just in the software

  • @Xentradi97 no problem at all! they can invert the entire surface with no more than a program line....

  • @Xentradi97 even now, I'm righthanded but always use my left hand for phone.

  • @Xentradi97 there are going to be seperate models for the left handed

  • @TheGamer2OoO Yah but that's a huge waste in resource and cost to make separate version for right hander and left hander. It's just not practical and no phone company does it. Why make separate product line when they can just produce one ambidextrous model?

  • @Xentradi97 exactly. Maybe an option somewhere on Settings ...

    Anyways, this is really innovative.

  • @Xentradi97 The solution would have been to include hard buttons on both right and left side of the phone. Also one should be able to flip the scroll wheel menu to the left, that would be a software driven update that can easily be implemented. The cost will be a little more but if you think about it, it's quite practical, i.e. a right-hander will be able to use it with their left hand while taking notes with their right hand.

  • A cheaper solution is being able to rotate the phone upside down to initiate for left hand use, then the UI would automatically adjust the scroll wheel menu accordingly.

  • @puppyjoe69 Idea is novel yes. But the product never took off did it?

  • @Xentradi97

Not what if? What if you use left hand, because you do not have right hand, or if it is busy? :)

  • @neXus200xx Good point

  • @Xentradi97 Well thought out, lefties are a very giant slice of the market worldwide (Google translator, sorry if bad English)

  • @oksigeno I used to work in IT industry and came across this kind of things time to time. They put so much effort in creating a masterpiece and they marvel at it, until some random kid walk by and tell them a simple but glaring problem that they completely overlooked. Then they go "DOH!"

  • @Xentradi97 hm. totally agree...

  • @Xentradi97 Dat's what i was thinkin :D

  • @Xentradi97 there is a left handed option

  • @Xentradi97 You just take it with you left hand idiot.

  • @mrblue2012 You are the idiot: Even for right handed people, there will always be situations where they may have to use their left hand to dial/search/etc. With any other phone that's never a problem, with this one it would be very awkward. It's a built-in limitation.

  • @zamkam

In case you didn't notice, it did have the menu-based UI, it isn't all right-handed.

This is just a prototype, no need to get all aggressive over YouTube.

  • @Xentradi97 you have to become right handed ;D

  • @Xentradi97 Good point. But not only if you're left handed, for example: most drivers in England use their LEFT hand to handle the phone. And in any case there are always situations where you want to handle your phone with your left hand. If you're using this phone.....good luck.

  • thats the last time u said this xD

  • ja entschuldige ;-)

  • okay wolln wa ma kein drama draus machen jeder hat halt annere vorlieben xD

  • ja so ist das halt xD

  • looks great... wanna have it !

  • the phone looks very fast indeed.

  • This Phone is gonna eat Android for Breakfast!

  • @starguard i doubt it. Android is on all carriers in a number of form factors.

  • @starguard

and not just Android but all other i'm 100% sure! :)

  • @starguard

    Android is linux too.

  • @starguard before google bought android it was loosely based on linux

  • @HIGHandFLYandRYE

Still does, the latest Android still use a highly modified linux kernel.

  • @starguard Too bad it got Vaporwared all to hell. And Android is now the #1 selling smartphone OS. :) Not quite!

I hope they port it to Android it would make a sweet skin on Froyo. :D

  • @starguard

    Technically, Android is Linux based............

  • @starguard The phone is never going to be released, since it was cancelled. If the company can find someone willing to take the risk to pay licensing fees, that would be cool.

  • @wdililn That sad! :-(

  • @starguard Android is Linux.....

  • @starguard Android is Linux.....

  • @nathan8BIT How is Android something else? Hmm.

  • first linux based? xD and android? maemo? open moko? why to do this if not a full linux platform?

  • @unsleep i think its called the First ELSE not the "ELSE First linux Smartphone" XD

  • different...not sure if i like it though...i think it might be the fact that the colours are limited...i think i may just stick with my iphone..

  • Want I want!

  • @Tot4ln00b Me too!

  • Wow! Phew! The most innovative approach I've seen since Palm WebOS! iPhone and Windows Phone look sooooo poor in terms of UI innovation!!!! I posted this link on Twitter @m_o_n_a_c_o

  • Linux FTW !

  • This is the perfect interface for a movie.

  • ... and for your next smartphone ;-)

  • That is just AMAZING

  • there better be a left hand version, but looks lovely

  • sure, must be an essential part of the system settings

  • good phone but i cant see it taking it off. menu looks boring without the icons, and can u Imagen how many times will u have to go back everytime u lift finger up by mistake and it will open new app. and can u still text using ur thumb only?? wanted to see keybord layout most important thing in touch screen phones

  • very elegant- and different.

  • Comment removed

  • I see no home screen, I see no customization. Wallpapers? Themes? Colours?

  • Вот это да - что-то новое в системе управления сотовым телефоном!

  • really impressive! good job!

  • pretty superfly
