How exactly does the Ice Heart Skill work? Even after watching the movie several times I wasn't quite able to get that part. All I remember is that his father taught him the chant to it.

It's a long story with its origin--basically winds's ancestor battled with the fire kirin and accidentally consumed its blood.

therefore his bloodline will often go into berserk mode(random crazy ass killing). to stop the fire kirin effect, his family created the ice heart skill to "calm" themselves when needed, this skill, when combined with the family's sabre (along with the 6 moves), also has a freezing effect. I tried my best in explaining hope this helps, if not you can always read the comic =)
