The account of the siege of Masada was related to Josephus by two women who survived the suicide by hiding inside a cistern along with five children, and repeated Eleazar ben Ya'ir's exhortations to his followers, prior to the mass suicide, verbatim to the Romans. Because Judaism strongly discourages suicide, Josephus reported that the defenders had drawn lots and killed each other in turn, down to the last man, who would be the only one to actually take his own life.

@MartaDzika It's a separate group. The oldest Masada performances were actually electric, though.

Joey's one of the few drummers with astonishing technique and even more astonishing musicianship. His solos are compositions in themselves.

1:12 - 1:15... the girl on the right looks rather awkward. She doesn't know any of the talented individuals playing, as she came with her friend so that she would seem 'hip.' Watch her and tell me that I'm wrong.

I think the original Masada lineup revolved. The earliest one I've heard is from spring '93 (or somewhere around then) and Medeski, Martin, and Ribot are on the first set. The second set has Chris Wood and Ben Perowsky (I forget who else).

Marc Ribot: Guitar
Jamie Saft: Keyboards
Kenny Wollesen: Drums
John Zorn: Alto Saxophone
Did the lineup you mention perform before the first release? btw ... I've seen Joey Baron perform with Medeski and Ribot twice (as the Joey Baron trio). Unbelievable.
