As a tricker I share this sentiment...never stop doing what you love! It stays with you, no matter where you are. The number of backflips I've done in restaurants...I can't count.
I was a gymnast for 7 years and a competitive gymnast for 7 I miss gymnastics but watching that video made me cry I still miss gymnastics. I am trying to go back I was 3 year state champ. back to back.(in G.A levels 4,5,prep op) Got hurt took 9th the next state meet (in N.C level 6) Took 5th state for level 7 and took 3rd for level 8 (in N.C States and I got hurt every year in N.C.) I was working 8/9 then got hurt AGAIN and had to wait till I was cleared by my doctor to go back.
6 months later he cleared me and for 3 of those months I wasn't allowed to do much unless it was my medical excersice with a nurse or close watch by an adult I wasn't allowed to do a lot of conditioning. After the 6 months he said go easy on it less than 6 months later I was back to see him. He finally just said take a year of hardcore gymnastics off and return then. Jaunary 1st 2012 I can go back, just have to find the money to do it over 400 a month is rough. Cheer isn't as fun.
@PandaPal127 It's never too late. I was forced to stop weightlifting due to a car accident and I'm beginning to look towards gymnastics. I'm 29 years old, weight 215 lbs, and can now do planche push ups. In a couple of months I'll transition to a straddle planche and hopefully a full planche. I also began training with the rings (which are completely awesome!) BTW this video is 100% accurate, I'm always sore ;)
@PandaPal127 There was one gymnast who started at 11 and got a bronze medal at the European Championships (can't remember which event) a few years later. She said it was harder learning the skills when you're older but it's possible. If you work hard anything is possible.
I was a gymnast for 7 years and a competitive gymnast for 6 years then I quit and joined dance I always tell myself that I don't miss gymnastics but watching that video made me cry there for I still miss gymnastics.
I am all of those! I am a level six and going to my 2nd meet on Sunday. I am nervous and scared. I most nervous about floor. last meet i got a 7.5 and i am going to fall i just know it. But help me stay positive!
@Emiabby2 good luck! Im sure your not going to fall. I dont know if this helps, but last year i was competing, and i was really nervous for beam. Instead of thinking that i had to do well, i just thought of trying to have fun, and not care if i fell, and i had one of the best routines ever. (okay, although i had only competed for one year, so it wasnt that much of an accomplishment. :P )
i just wanted to say. i was forced to quit too. theres not a day i would say no to be able to choose to go back. all these things are true. and people dont realize that it is a second home, its your life, your coaches are more like your parents than your parents sometimes, your true friends are there, i was a level 7 too(:
@gymnast8669 hi was a a gymnast got to level 9 but was forced to quit because of an injury. what helps me if im afraid to do something is to believe if i have done it before than i can do it again and its no big deal and it will be easy. i also try to visualize my coach standing there so that way when im going in my mind i can think nothing will go wrong or happen. i hope this helps and i know you can do it good luck!!!!
@97gymnast4life hi, i know im not the person you actually replied to, but that was one of the most useful tips ive heard in ages, and helped me massively with my backhandspring, so thank you :-)
This helps me remind myself never to quit gymnastics, my brother and his friends said they won't let me quit because most of them were gymnasts and quit and they regret it everyday <3 im level 4/5/6 and will never quit my dream !
i used to do gymnastics, i quit part by choice and part because i was forced to because of an injury. it would of taken a long time to get back from my injury so i decided to give it up, and i regret that decision everyday. i wish that i would of pushed through and tried to comeback. i would give anything in the world to go back and do my gymnastics career over again.
@missholly515 im glad that helped. Its just a matter of listening to your coaches, stretching and being careful. But Awesome....i bet you will love it. :D
@missholly515 no you dont get injuries everyday. Gymnastics is a dangerous sport but just need to be aware of everything. always stretch before and after. you do strain your muscles but that can come with any sport you do.
@joshguy64 Yeah cause my dad doesnt want anything like what happened to back happen again. I understand all about it but its hard to not do gymnastics. For sure Bon Jovi is a good artists.
ty everyone who said i could do it and now i go to one of my local gyms tysm
