  • i knew tht i was on something when i saw a toothpaste genie! (sorry to wreck children's dreams)

  • A monster with a serious appetite! He would make Adam Richman on Man vs. Food look like a girl on a strict diet of lettuce!

  • wish for a Semi.

  • EAT TRUCK!!!!!

  • I love the whole "Genie In The Toothpaste" idea! Cookie Monster's a riot!!!

  • 6:34 I love the quoat

  • Even the genie, the magical being who can conjure anything, has never seen anything like Cookie Monster.

  • Is that supposed to be a beard, or does the genie just have a furry face?

  • ? so cookie hasnt brushed his teeth in 3and a 1/2 weeks?????

  • @altawchrist

Maybe he had finished a tube of toothpaste the day before and this was a new tube.

  • @Smartboy8877 lol ok yeah thats a reasonable explanation :-)

  • i wish i had a signature webkinz

  • I already loved Cookie Monster, but this video just put him in the Hall of Fame of Pure Awesomeness !

    You CAN'T own him. Ever.

  • Once there lived a little monster in a kingdom far away

& a very strange thing happened as he brushed his teeth one day.

As he squeezed the toothpaste from the tube deep thunder shook the skies

And suddenly a genie stood before his very eyes!

"I'm the genie of the toothpaste!" said the genie with a laugh

"I've been trapped inside that toothpaste tube for 3 weeks & a half!

You squeezed the tube & set me free so here is what I'll do

I'll let you have three wishes & I'll make them all come true."

  • Sweet an old F-100

  • Wish I had a hat like the Genie in the Toothpaste did

  • This probably has to be one of Frank and Jim's best bits.

  • Wonder whatever NYC car dealership who sold the truck to the CTW knew what was gonna happen?

  • I have noticed that a lot of these old fairy tale type stories have been uploaded onto You Tube. However, one that I have not been able to find so far is Donald the Dangerous Dragon. Might someone be able to upload that one for me?

  • Cookie should be dead after eating that... from what my uncle told me, Ford used a lot of lead-based paint back then. (Not to mention the gas in the tank, the cigarette lighter, and all the electrical bits)

  • I'M RESTORING A F 100-----DON'T EAT IT, GIMME THE DOORS AND HOOD

  • forgot to eat other 2 trucks

  • Me gutted for cookie monster, His plan was a good one and got trapped going down the truck route, 'ohhhhh boyyyyyyy.' Still, fair play he made the best of it at the end. 'You crazy! .Delicious....'

  • OH COME ONE ! whats that for a bad storry. i so strongly whished he gets his million cookies :( please give it to him you evil djini. i hate you.

  • "Going to put the toothpaste onto the brush and have a real good time. Da dum dum!"

That still makes me laugh. How did Frank Oz do that without cracking up?

  • @samsticka I know! Gotta love Cookie Monster!

  • I love:

    "What you reading, anyway?"

    "Oh, it's the story of..."

"Oh, me not got time, bye bye!"

  • Oh come on Cookie! That's a great truck. A real classic!

  • Crazy delicious, AAHHHMMM!!

  • EAT TRUCK!!!!!!!!!

  • Bob was WORKIN' that shirt!

  • You know what I think? I think they ought to release a DVD of an anthology of the classic Sesame Street stories. The ones the Sesame Street humans read featuring the Muppets. Now that would be something to buy.

  • @Garrettk41 Yeah, absolutely. I'd love to see a whole series of themed compilations of this type. No lame newly shot filler material, no clipping of the beginning and ends of segments, just a menu and a series of related clips. Fans have been asking for this type of thing for years.

  • @asaweryold We just might end up getting our wish sooner than you think. I recall reading somewhere that Warner Brothers is making plans to release more DVDs in the near future. So you never know. Keep your fingers crossed...

  • cookie monster could have wished for a great big truck full of million cookies.

  • @conductorcarson

    That is good logical thinking!

  • Bob was a sex god!!!!!

  • Cookie Monster You Legend!

  • He ate a fucking track! XD

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, Cookie! You could have SOLD that truck, and with the money, purchased many cookies, plus a cookie jar to hold them...

It okay. Me still love you.

  • @lcorinth

You just offered a very logical way that Cookie Monster could have handled the situation! Good for you!

  • Look at Bob's shirt! Wow, that brings back memories!

  • As a man who got his degree in Children's Theatre and loved Jim Henson, I've been dying to see this for a LONG time. I was just telling my fianceé about this earlier today since she wants to be a teacher. Thanks for posting this, asaweryold. I LOVE IT!! :-)

  • Haha. I remember this one but just barely. "Me good at eating but not so good at counting." Eat Truck!" "Oh my. Goodness gracious me. I have never seen anything like this before." Haha.

  • "EAT TRUCK!"

  • After 2 years, hearing Cookie Monster sing "Going to put the toothpaste onto the brush and have a real good time Da dum dum" still makes me laugh. It never gets old.

  • it's funny how the genie looks like Jim Henson and Jim henson did the voice for the genie, :)

  • @Blondiegreeneyes72 So the original Sesame Street version of Bip Bippadotta got out of jail, dyed his beard brown and became a genie (shishkabob-bom-shazam!)

  • omg, look at all that hair on bob

  • WOW! What a great idea! Give this guy the nobel prize!

  • Very sensible points. I think you should write a letter to Cookie Monster and explain all of this to him. Or just appreciate the humor and silliness of the Muppets.

  • I LOVE southern accents!!!

  • "Three to a customer".....Here's hoping the owner of the truck was well compensated for the damage inflicted by Cookie Monster.

  • I remember this skit. I was in kindergarten at the time. Man, the memories... thank you!!

  • If I was 4 years old, that second truck really would be a 'spiffy' truck. I had lots of diecast cars and trucks as a kid.

He should have said: "Me wish for truck, big enough to hold million cookies!!"

  • built Ford tough

  • its really surprising cookie monster didnt wish for cookies

  • He actually wanted to wish for cookies...he just accidentally wished for three trucks...poor cookie monster...

  • @smartiboi He tried to but used up all his wishes.

  • the REAL story is going to be my speech! i know its dumb but.... :)

  • That's Not Safe. Eating Glass of a truck?!?

  • Yeah, but Cookie Monster doesn't play it safe.

  • "i'm gonna put toothpaste on the brush and have a real good time. Dudu tum"

    LMAO

  • @mikeygeneral I remember that line as well! In fact, that's the line I remember the most from this clip! Not only that, but I kept thinking he said 'toothpaste on the tub brush,' when it's actually 'toothpaste on to the brush.'

  • Million Cookies! Do it! lol !!!!!!!

  • EY BOB WAIT!!!

  • What's wrong with Bob's shirt? Nothing. It was 1973. People wore shirts like that then.

  • hehehe the Genie of the toothbrush looks like Benny from ABBA

  • Gosh, Bob was a stunna'. :D

I laughed every time Cookie Monster said "Little Genie Man". Too cute.

  • "im gonna give u three wishes!" and CMs face just lights up haha

  • bob and his loud shirts lol

  • It's an okay shirt; I just don't know if I'd want a shirt like that.

  • If you don't like that shirt there's something wrong with you!!! :^)

  • my grandma used to have curtains like that shirt hehe

  • @Kevbox2008 I like his shirt. do they still sell shirts like that?

  • LOL 5 stars

  • Coundn't Cookie monster take back one of his wishes to get Cookies?

  • "Let's put the paste on the toothbrush and have a real good time, dum dumdum dum."

I guess I'll sing that tonight before brushing my teeth.

  • No, no. It's not the toothbrush.

He says "Me gonna put the paste on the DOGbrush and have a real good time, dum dumdum dum."

  • I totally forgot that I already knew the genie was going to say,' SHISHKABABOB KAZAAM!`

  • SHAZAAM i mean

  • i wonder if he has insurance O_O

  • mmmmm bob do u want too have a bit of the stiring wheel?? no thanks i i just ate u crazy delicous

  • me wish for a MILLION cookies million cookies DO IT!

  • Laughing at this genius sketch, and a little bit at Bob's shirt.

  • "There only one thing to do... EAT TRUCK!!!"

  • I made a bleeped version of this?

  • If I ever win the lottery I won't hire Bob as my financial advisor. He should have ran after the cookie monster and told him to wish for great wealth, wisdom and understanding. Maybe even for Nirvanna. Gotta luv Bob though. Classic F-250 and I remember asking my mom to buy me a truck just like the "bigger" truck in this skit when I was a little boy. She looked but couldn't find one. Anybody know who made it? Tonka? Ertl?

  • This is too funny! Whatever will they dream of next!

  • It's insane. Can't stop watching... Must...

    EAT TRUCK!

  • EAT TRUCK!

  • the genie is from texas ! lovely southern accent.

  • @momohamuabibo He kind of sounded like a southern oil millionaire.

  • Comegalletas chévere!!!

    :)

  • *Singing* Put the toothpaste onto the brush. And there will be a real good time. Ba-Dump-Bump

  • EAT TRUCK!!!

Wasting 3 wishes ain't gonna stop Cookie from a meal. ;-)

  • Shish-ka-bob-bob-Bob Dylan! Dylan, Berlin!

  • This is actually from 1975 according to Muppet Wiki, just the truck is from 1973.

  • hahaha omg i just remembered i always found that bob guy somewhat attractive when i was little wow i had weird taste, maybe it was his smile or something?? lol

  • Maybe its the shirt

  • I love how "Genie Man" sounds dead like "Dr. Teeth" (which is of course Jim Henson) from the Muppets. These people were so funny.

  • I actually read this in a Sesame Street book first. It was a poem, and the last stanza went something like:

So the genie flew away and said,

As he scratched his scruffy beard,

"I've met lots of folks before,

But boy, is THAT guy WEIRD!" :)

  • HAHA Classic!

  • I was kind of a dope. I heard this one on a record as a kid, so I was always rationalizing that the truck must be made out of chocolate or something. I couldn't stand the idea of the genie withholding food from Cookie Monster.

  • Tsk tsk tsk.. shouldve wished for a U-Haul in the first place

  • If his first wish was a truck, his second wish was a million cookies, I wonder what his third wish would have been.

  • Probably a million more cookies.

  • A really big glass of milk.

  • i love Jim Henson's voice!

  • Actually, that sounds closer to David Rudman, the current VA for Cookie Monster.

  • Con Artist Genie of the Toothpaste. Cookie should have eaten him

  • Anyone have Bob telling the story about the letter L--called The Legend of the Lovely Lady Linda?

  • mine is cookie monster. hes the best

  • "Going to put the toothpaste on the brush and have a real good time Da dum dum."

That still cracks me up when I hear it.

  • oh my lord, cookie monster is eating that truck!!!

  • loooool, 3 wishes for each customer. thats funny

  • The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds all bitterness sweet. -- Proverbs 27:7

  • The origin of the 'Monster Truck'.

  • "this is really weird!" Who does cookie monster's voice?

  • That would be Frank Oz.

  • This segment was described in the book "Sesame Street Unpaved", which I have. And now that I see it in action, it's hilarious!

One question: Is there a specific title for the song Cookie Monster sings about the toothpaste?

  • I think everybody has a Sesame Street favorite, mine is the count

  • Good old Jim Henson using his "Dr. Teeth" voice...how appropriate as he came out of a tube of toothpaste. Another classic skit with Bob in his groovy shirt :)

  • Yes, he is, Samsticka.

  • What's up with that shirt?

  • i guess the Ford tasted like cookies.and how does cookie monster hold all of those car parts in his stomach?

  • Was that the mirror he ate first? I remember a crash at the beginning.

  • hey little genie man me want a bigger truck! classic sketch! cheers asaweryold for this.

  • Is Bob still on "Sesame Street"?

  • He sure is

  • My gawd bob is young there.

  • 'shiskababa shazam!!!' lol

  • Cookie Monster singing "Going to put the toothpaste on the brush and have a real good time Da dum dum." is funny.

  • Yeah, Cookie singing about the toothpaste makes me laugh every time I watch it.

  • Sometimes I sing that when I'm brushing my teeth.

  • It's a shame "Sesame Street" has dumbed itself down in recent years. This sketch proved that children's shows could be educational without being preachy.

  • "EAT TRUCK!" LOL.

  • Anyone know if that truck belonged to anyone?

  • Did anyone listen to Cookie Monster singing when he was brushing his teeth? It's kind of funny. "Let's put the toothpaste on the brush. And have a real good time."

  • I think that video has been cut, because I seem to remember Cookie monster eating the two smaller trucks before attacking the great big one.

  • Cookie ate one of the top manufacturers for trucks. HE ATE A FORD! LOL

  • Sometimes Cookie Monster really acted like some wild savage.

  • wow, bob looks pretty young here.

  • Hey, I found a video that I remembered many years ago! That is one of my favorites!

  • I saw in "Sesame Street Unpaved" that truck was an F100, but this skit's got an F250. I guess NOT ALL trucks in the business are built Ford tough...

  • The genie sounds like Guy Smiley.

  • That's because they're both played by Jim Henson.

  • I thought so.

  • Wow...I remember this one! This was a classic! Sesame Street really became a part of my life as a kid!

  • the genie sounds like a southern texas oil company owner. lol

  • this video is the best, i <3 cookie monster!

  • the genie reminds me of the mahna mahna guy. :D

  • i was wrong i meant the genie looks like the Bippadotta guy from the skit "some and none." :D

  • That's what I was thinking too!

  • There was a different version of this story on one of the records, where Oscar played the genie, and it was narrated by Herbert Birdsfoot.

  • Wonder ehy they changed it for the TV version?

I only had the first SS LP but I heard the other verion on MC radio.

  • I was told by my mother that I cried when he ate the truck, and I think I know why: it was very similar to a truck my dad had, and I wasn't thrilled with CM eating it.

BTW Did they modify that truck for CM to "eat it"?

  • I remember this video, The Monster's 3 Wishes. Cookie Monster eating a 1973 Ford Pickup Truck is very very funny. Especially, offering a steering wheel to Bob (played by Bob McGrath) but Bob wasn't very hungry because he ate recently for lunch.

    David Ho

    rollingchild4

  • I wonder what the Ford dealer thought when he realized he sold a pick-up just so it would get eatened by CM?

  • I was going to suggest driving to the store and buying a million cookies, but... oh, well.

  • 3 1/2 weeks? Cookie, if you want to keep those teeth, you'll have to do better than that. Especially with your diet!

  • Cookie Monster has teeth? Cookie monster talking to Bob was cute.Cookie monster eating the truck was hysterical!

  • I don't really remember Cookie Monster talking to Bob, except the part where he offers him the steering wheel, but then again, I haven't seen this one in years.
