Born in the US and moved to Australia at the age of 11. Did not know what the hell they were doing, but after watching it for a while it then makes sense. You can always google "Rugby rules" and it may shed some light. Best way, keep watching, especially the Queensland Reds. Best team on the planet!

First off, it's called binding to the scrum and not "interlocking heads & bumcheeks".

Secondly, Front rowers must engage square on and not bore in on an angle.

Third, the scrum-half must roll the ball into the middle of the gap between the two opposing sides and the hooker must attempt to hook the ball back using his feet whilst the rest of the pack work as a cohesive unit to push the other team backwards guaranteeing possession.
