I met them after they played this song.. November 2002.. they were wonderful men and brilliant musicians.. I felt so lucky to be there with all those people at the State Theater in Detroit.. it was spiritual.
They don't make music.. They make art. I'm 16 and I just wish that at least ONE of my friends I would be able to share this music with without getting reactions of confusion and agnst.. They try and show me whats in the charts and I just can't take it seriously.. No emotion just sex, money and gad-damn drugs.. This is real emotion.. real music.....
This is, the most perfect expression of sadness mixed with anger that I can imagine, I have heard this many times and it never gets less powerful. Just . . . wow.
This is ear candy to the extreme. I get diabetes just listening to this! In a good way xD
I'd sooo love to watch (hear?) them live and plan to on their next tour. My only fear is that they don't play this and their new stuff doesn't float my boat like this^, Staralfur, Festival, Glosoli, Hoppipolla, Untitled #1 and Untitled #4, amongst many other great songs. I'd be destroyed!
My gosh, I don't even know what to make of this. It must be breathtaking and mindblowing to watch live. However, I've always had this thought - listening to their music has always been a very personal thing for me, so I wonder how it'll feel like watching them with so many other people? Anyone who has seen them can share your thoughts? Well I do hope I get to see them one day, best of all in Iceland. Cheers!
@neonsquashtiger If you have the opportunity to see them live, you must do it! It is a transformational experience. And even though I saw them at a pretty large venue, if felt very intimate. No other concert I have been to before or since has come close.
@norcalgirl83 I have seen Jonsi live, and even though that was a mind blowing experience, I would so love to see Sigu Ros, hopefully one day, if they ever tour again.
The way they connect themselves to their music, and the way they make everyone else connect as well... is simply mesmerizing. They create music for the sake of creating it, because they need to do it, because they can't live doing anything else. And that is what makes them stand out, that is what makes them so special. The world just becomes flawless, or at least beautifully flawed when listening to them. This is a true, timeless masterpiece.
Caring about what someone likes for music is like caring about their religion. Who cares and if you do... stop being a meddler/bigot and just enjoy your own personal experiance in life... :D and PS i love metal too but sigur ros is my favorite.
@TheJoshcash1008 8 typical heavy metal fans, because I'm a heavy metal fan, but I am also a post-rock fan as well and a fan of everything in between. I guess you can say I'm just a music fan. Now don't get me wrong, there are songs that I don't like but that is based on musicality.
It is a drum that can make you feel something more than hate or angry!! Just that, you miss understood him, and I think that darkside and me don`t like hate...
I haven't listened to this band is a very long time....but man it still gives me chills. It's amazing how nostalgic music can evoke such strong emotions and really take you back to certain moments.
..i like the way they're going through....mialem okazje przezyc to 2 razy na zywo , jedne z najlepszych chwil mego zycia :))..i am still connected............................

Sigur Ros is THE band of the century..!

Breathtaking, beautiful song by this extremely young guy..
This is beauty in it's rawest form. Words can describe how this song (and this band) makes me feel, but what they can't tell you is how it has affected me. This band's music changed my life and my understanding of what and how music is supposed to make one feel and think. Yes, this is what's right with the human condition.
What's so awesome about them is that their art needs a lot of patience, the song starts out normally (which by Sigur Ros standards is still beyond this world!) and then it builds up so slowly, and it thrills you, and your heart beats and then the song climaxes and you're left sitting there, mind-blown, smiling having had one hell of a trip.
The last 12 minutes or so of Heima is what made me fall in love with this song, and this song is what made me fall in love with this band. I listened to them for a long time before I really started to appreciate their passion; which this song displays greatly.
I remember being so enthralled in this song when I watched the dvd for the first time, when the wall of feedback cut to silence I actually jumped. stunning
One night while bored I surfed the cable channels for something and came across Heima. I think it was IFC. What a find! What a film! What a band! These people make music that is dear to my heart. How had I not heard of them all of these years? I was stunned and happy to have been made aware of them. Thanks so much to all involved...
@Thom2509 Agreed. Never seen or heard anything like it. There's something so organic and natural and yet otherworldly and unreal about it. This was the performance that convinced me of his talent.
@Thom2509 Powerful yes, but it's because of everything else that's going on. Sigur ros has amazing chemistry, that's what makes them so incredible. The drumming however is nowhere near the best..although he's very talented...not trying to discredit at all.
