  • THANK YOU

  • Hey man, great song! Just got me a 15" MacBook Pro. What kind of interface would you recommend? I would eventually like to record my drummer too. I would need a interface with more than just one or two inputs right? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • are you ever going to release that song???!!! i'd love to download it it sounds sooooo nice :) :)

  • this sounds really great! I like it.

  • hi! my name is pac man i'm trying to learn how to work pro tools to make a better sound can you help.hit me up at .william.burl@yahoo.com thanks alot

  • Ok would you say something like logic is the most accessible im looking for a DAW that lets you record your live instruments into it as well as use some cool plug ins synths dirty bass sounds etc...???? Looking for something relatively easy to use....

  • @deftonesfan192 Logic would definitely allow you to do these things, however, if you are a mac user, you might find GarageBand easier to jump into at first. If you use PC, you might want to try a version of Cakewalk Sonar.

  • thanks dick i got it its 128

  • hey whats a good buffering rate and delay rate when recording vocals

  • @deehoop209 No offense but if you're asking these kind of questions you should know the answers. Buffer and sample rates aren't what someone should learn straight away.

  • Great Video. Thanks.

  • Very very cool! Thanks for the inspiration! Just ordered Logic Express :)

  • Please, I need help with my arpeggiator,

This is my issue, I have my arpeggiator working fine but when I bounce the song down it does not show up in the bounce? I am totally stumped I don't know what I'm doing wrong? any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    Dorian

  • i just got my logic pro 8 and im new to mac and cant figure out how to record audio with my usb condenser mic help

  • ohh yea also the progression also sounds like cannon in d hahaha :)

  • why would u use compression on a garageband bass if its all ready set perfect with compression? that probably made it sound dead? just asking not hating :D

subscribe to me and ill subscribe to you :D

  • Hi, nice video, please could you tell me how I configure two separate midi tracks and channels, one with midi in sound card controller keyboard and the second with an Maudio USB keyboard controller, Thanks

  • hey there. im using logic pro 9..i have a keyboard and a guitar but i dont have a midi interface.. is there another effective way to record?

  • With logic you can record things like through a mixer (Mic'd amps and vocals) without using the amps and such that logic offers correct?

in other words i can use this like Pro Tools or Sonar or Cubase, i can input to tracks, arm and record?

  • this is absalutly awesome ! :)

  • i wanna get a crazy distortion sound for recording

  • Thumbs UP dude ! Keep making music.

  • Cool video. I really dig those strings and the grand piano sound.

  • let us hear the whole song

  • Excuse me Nate ,

can you please write me about settings you used for the acoustic guitar ?

i mean the delay and the compressor ..

i just need to read it since i am a foreigner and i don't get all the words you say in the video

    thank you a lot !

    Marco

  • Good

  • Helpful! I just ordered Logic Express 9. I've been playing around with Garageband, but feel ready to move up. I love making my own drum beats, so I can't wait to use ultra beat.

Thanks for your help. Like the recording.

    peace. 

  • Very informative video.

    Thank you !!

  • can somebody please tell me a good apple mac to record and how much im likely to pay.

    thanks :)

  • Imac, 500gb $1100. Just bought one getting logic in a day or so :)

  • @UnknownGuitarGod is that the one that is a just a monitor with everything built in?

  • yes.

  • so u started with drums right.

  • On a Mac Mini, too, it appears...

  • Nice Shit man

go to my profil and tjek some of my beats out :D

  • Nice Video and beat man! Keep up the great work!

  • logic 8 consists of so many discs

  • Where I can download Logic 8!?

  • holy shit!!!!!!!! nice

  • HOW DID YOU GET THAT DISTORTED GUITAR SOUND? i havent been able to find any good guitar sounds on logic, please answer!

  • There are plenty. Simply click your guitar track and go to your channel inserts and click distortion. You should have a few plug-in selections for distortion that you can tweak to find that perfect sound.

  • really nice one!

i love the piano and your guitar. its simple, but that is the only fact that work.

did you write a text on it?

  • Really nice simply explained video there. Just a general build up for anyone to go by and go off and create their own work.

Inspiring for stuff for aspiring home musicians and good use of Pachelbel's Canon too!

  • good one

  • u r a genious man great melody congratulations

  • if you have a beat on a cd and you want to record a song how do you you load the beat in logic pro?

  • u can import it from the cd into itunes or something and then drag it into logic

  • can you record vocals on LOGIC EXPRESS n how good does it sound.

  • thanks!

  • Ok, we have the beat, bass, piano, and acoustic guitar. Now, aside from playing and recording a real live guitar (I don't have any knowledge with guitars)... are there any other ways to achieve the same effect?

  • i don't think I've found any software instruments that can quite emulate the strumming to the same effect.

  • does line 6 pod farm work with the new logic express 9 as an interface? also could i use my pod farm sounds as my guitar sounds or wud i have to use the ones in logic

  • hey man amazing song i love it alot it sounds nice and smoooth but i was wondering if you could give me a hint on how much i could maybe buy a cheap interface for, if you could message me for the answer thanks alot nice song man.

  • your eyes look black as night

  • Yeah, the lighting was so weird.. I also have a crazy beard and hair in that vid.. haha.

  • yea, good video though

  • Thanks very much for making it all sound so simple! I love using Logic, not just for recording, but it's great too for making digital transfers of LP's, with proper fade in/out and edits via the editing tools. Hope you like the Logic Express effort I have posted onto the video responses.

  • BRO!!! You are awesome! Jesus LOVES yoU and that music Sounds sweet! Its awesome blessing people with simple instructions on how to make beautiful music. Your spirit is wonderful and man...You are really a blessing! The music is also blessed! Peace JS

  • nice job. nice song.

  • Sounds like canon in d# but cool man sounds awesome

  • Did some work today on Logic 8 and a mac today at Roger Scott Craig's house...Roger Scott Craig....101 South, Harlan cage, Liverpool Express, Fortune.. What a cool guy...We're working on 101 South's new album...No U Turn...it was my first hands on with Logic...really cool software.

  • great video great music but...

    canon in D#?

  • hahaha thats exactly what i thought!!! but there's one hell of a lot of songs based around those chords. but I give you credit man. that sounds really professional. really full and very helpful vid :)

  • how much does an interface cost

  • Great.

  • Which interface are you using?

  • whats up? i am thinking of getting a mac and logic but i dont fully understand its capabilities. I am really into blink 182 and bands like that does logic support music like that. and say if i record one track of guitar like clean guitair could i go back and play something on top of that as i reocord it as well? just fill me in thanks

  • Yes, You can create practically any type of music with logic (either express or studio)... You can record a guitar on one track, and another in a different track; there´s even a feature where you can record various guitar riffs in the same track space, and just pick the parts you really want after that.

Get yourself a mac and logic; you won´t regret it. Adn keep on Rockn´.

  • Great video! And Nice work on the track. What is interesting is, your mix sounds pretty good. How did you go about mixing your tracks? Could you post a video on that too? Do you refer to any book or any other material on learning how to mix well?

  • hi i loved you vid. but thought the guitar sounded really squarish and kind of mechanical.. try and use the arpegiator & quantization to spread the guitar sound maybe a bit delay so it doesnt sound so mechanical.. but all and all sounds pretty good.

  • can you create the guitar sound without actually having the guitar there? and how do u record the vocals?? pleas elet me know

  • With logic you have a lo of great guitar presets that you can play with any MIDI keyboard. As for vocals, you can connecta cheap little mixer to the Mac´s audio input, or get an audio interface with mic capabilitties (sorry for my spelling).

    :-)

  • yo man, yerr u can with the guitar, but youd need a keyboard, to plug into the interface (with a midi cable) and even then the sound you get from the guitar on the software you are using might not be great, but its better than nothing. With the microphone, it should normally come with a cable which has three pins, and three holes on one end, you can just plug that in to the interface, and make sure that your software is recording your interface (not the mike from your computer) :D

  • this guy looks like syler from the show heroes

  • Sounds cool! I hope to get a recording like yours in the near future. I am trying ultrabeat, but it seems kind of hard to assign beats instead of tapping them out. Is there an easy way to get lay down a drum track using ultrabeat?

  • It's so much fun to have all this stuff at your fingertips. Just got logic pro 8 about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it. No more money spent on badly engineered demos, coaching moronic guitar players and singers. No more drummers remorse getting stuck in the background. If you want to compose and make solid professional recordings, this stuff is the way to go. Only wish it didn't take so much processing power to run it when you get into lots of tracks. Small gripe.

  • dont, show your face, put the vid camera on the software.don't just talk, show how is done.

  • That was a great tutorial, that was an awesome full band sound :-) wish i could've seen the computer screen close up but i think i gottcha anyhow. I use garageband myself, can't afford logic or any of the other ones yet. I think it's more important for me to get all the other bits of equipment first. Just bought myself a NT1A Rode mic, can't wait to pick it up and start recording, i'm so siked!! :-)

  • Nicely done..... click my name :)

    Robdrums69 , over and out 1

  • can u use dis on a pc?

  • sorry, unfortunately not

  • Actually it's not unfortunate. PCs are unfortunate.

  • what interface to you use to input your guitar

    message back please

  • very good work bro...keep posting.

  • black eyes, or I'm dreaming ?...

  • hmm.. now that you mention it.. that looks kinda freaky. Bad lighting, I guess.

  • thats the progression to canon in d, is that what its supposed to be?

  • hey brother

really liked your work and thanks for the help but i dont hav logic

if you can tell me if there is any site where i can download it from

or do i have to buy it if yes then how much will it cost ?

  • thanks for this. It always kills me that music apps for the latest macs are always tasking them so severely....Someday someone will come out with an app that would be happy on a quad mac that works on the new ones...Of course, if you Midi most of what you do to external racks, etc. No problem.

And don't forget to push the envelope, folks....

  • I posted the above video response, made and edited ingest to broadcast on my Intel Mac (Logic, Final Cut Pro, etc.)...

    Keep up the tutorials.

  • Its expensive to have every skateboard punk and two bit hack reaming your pc every nanosecond. One of a hundred arguments for a Mac being worth the up front price tag for a top end computer. PS protools bites.

  • how do u record vocals in logic 8?

  • Hey guys. For those of you that were wondering about windows... if your going to record-- buy a mac! They work so much better. You wont regret it it promise. MAC RULES!

  • yeah unless you want to use sonar, and dont have a ton of money. You can get a pc for half what a mac cost and get a more powerful computer. Now that I got that out of the way there is a reason why almost every professional studios use macs. They dont crash! They dont get viruses and they are really easy to use. Im not going to say go buy a mac but you should definently consider it.

  • TRUE THAT! ive got one and they are awsome!

  • 'You can get a pc for half what a mac cost and get a more powerful computer'

    - Admitadly, macs are a whole lot more expensive. But there is no pc more powerful than the most powerful mac. FACT

  • Wirezts, you're wrong. Very wrong.

But yeah, Macs fucking pwn PC's lol

  • How can I be wrong? That would make you be contradicting yourself...

Go on the apple store website and build yourself the most powerful machine, I have never seen a PC anything like it... 8 core processor, 4 1TB HDD's, stupid graphics, 32 GB RAM...

  • hell yeah !

  • I use PC and never had any problems at all. People just need to learn to work with what they have.

Besides there's more freebies on PC than on Mac where VST's r concerned

  • Freebies that lag the shit out of cpu and crash... Not only that they're shit compared to the ones you pay for!

  • You obviously don't use the freebies I use and I never said they were better than the commercial vst's.

  • Can you show me how to lay something down...I've had this equipment for 2 months and I just look at it...can you please just get me stated....

  • Cool cool, anything similar you can recommend for a windows based pc to get the full band sound?

  • cubase or sonar. there are others but i havent used them. i recomend sonar over cubase it is much easier to use and just as powerful.

  • Good stuff, can I get logic for windows or do I need a Mac?

  • it needs a Mac

  • You CAN get a version of Logic for PC but it usually works like crap.

  • i prefer this to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's version of the Canon.

  • i'm looking to get the logic pro 8. your song sounds like the graduation song.

  • very inspiring and very very good song! :)

good enough to be on billboard

  • Hi, wow that stuff sounds really nice, did you use a keyboard or anything to play the chords? mark

  • Nice job Nate!

  • Very good example of a great mix out of the box Nate. Good job, and good tutorial.

  • thnx for the vid.. Do you know if you can split the screen on Logic 8 with 2 monitors.

meaning i like to see what im recording on the left monitor and see my EQ's on the right monitor, or my plugins. I dont like to have everything all stacked up on one screen. I read somewhere that LOGIC 8 is a one screen deal i hope not. could you plz let me know before i upgrade to logic 8 ?

    thnx

    stay easy..

  • Of course you can. You can extend your arrange view over two screens or you can keep the arrange view on one screen and use the other screen for mix-page, or plug ins, etc... You can move logic windows (arrange, mix, etc...) and plug in windows anywhere within your multi-monitor setup. The only think you can't do (I can't anyway) is resize plug-ins interface window. Of course you can resize arrante/mix/etc... windows

  • great impression. thanks.

  • What hardware (set up) do I need inside a mac to have a descent set up for recording music?

  • this works only mac?

  • yes it does

  • Yes little baby, just Mac, Pc/windows sucks! also Pro tools is for Mac

  • Pro Tools works on XP also, that's what I've been using it on until I can afford my Mac

  • Logic Platinum 5.5 is the last version that came out made for Windows...

  • Are you using a hackintosh?

  • nevermind I see the mac mini.

  • is it less complicated than protools!

  • logic express 8 it wont reconize my usb mic? is there a trick to it? i ahve searched online for help but nothing...

  • What midi controller are you using? is that Logic Express 8? Whats the difference between Logic express and Logic Pro?

  • wolverines twins lol

  • hey thanks for the post.

  • I got the US-122 tascam I am using on logic pro 8. my problem is 1) when I talk in mic I can't hear nothing on cpu/speakers 2) my computer built in mic works I don't want to use that Im tryna figure out how to disable cpu mic and use my external mic threw interface. 3) wen My Cpu mic records; logic records vocals but I dont hear my own voice during recording but it records when I play back. 4) at first evrything worked good mic with interface what did I do for it not 2 work nomore?? help! help

  • What kind of interface do you use to hook your guitar up to your computer? Like I never understood how to do that.

  • I just got logic and I got thys mic mxL 990 kind shitty but hooked threw my US-122 to my mac but besides all of that .. I got a problem recording when I record I heard a loud speakerphone noise it goes away when I turn the volume down but when I do that I cant hear the beat I'm tryna rap on. I know I'm not gone rap on a instrumental W/O hearing the beat. ??How can I record without hearing that loud speakerphone noise?????:(

  • You need to either turn off "Software Monitoring" in Logic (one of the options menus, it will stop the feedback) or wear headphones and turn down your speaker volume while you track.

  • 41fevaoaklandyada, you need to wear headphones so that only you can hear the beat and not the mic. As far as the speakerphone noise, I don't really know. but maybe you need to check the vocal effects on the logic settings. Or maybe turn down the mic recording level.

  • nicely done.

  • 200ms delay on one channel of the acoustic?? huh? it seems as though that would throw it off. did you mean to say 20ms?

  • Song sounds great! It's amazing how much can be done with computer recording these days. I just bought Logic Studio myself. Keep real music alive, we need it.

  • Dude i absolutely love this vid i have watched it alot for the past few days because i have just purchased logic and i now know pretty much what to do cheers nate

  • nice song. nice sound. there is one part of your drums that throws things off. I mean off. anyway if you take it out I can see the song be more complete. the video is hot too. just that 1 little change the song needs. Try to take out the last three sounds of the drums playing at 2:28 on this video and see how it sounds. drop me a line if you think that it works.

  • I want to hear the song! With vocals! How do I hear it? It's sooo good.

  • on logic 8 express can you edit tracks like in cool edit pro?

  • Screen shots would have been nice. m I hear what you're saying, but I need to see it.

    2 out of 5 stars.

  • I agree... I should put in more time and do screenshots on the next vid.. but I did it for fun, so I'm not taking anything too seriously.

  • Awesome. Thank you!

  • Hi. Great video! But honestly i need help. i am just getting into this and i have no idea what e.q. and compression or even plug ins are. Where did you learn all of this stuff? I want to be able to make the best sounds possible and to do that i know i need to tweak recordings but i just don't know what im doing/ If anyone can help i'd appreciate it. Thank You!

  • Check out the book "Modern Recording Techniques" by David Miles Huber. It covers all kinds of recording basics.

  • great video, dont know why i haven´t bought the program earlier!! one question, when u have a midi arrangement with mididrums, how do get wavedrums play with the mididrums,so u get the real drums sound?i think its called midi triggering...

  • Ultrabeat has its own audio samples built-in to the program, so you can use the patches it provides, some of which are very good, such as the one in the example being played.

  • great informational video...

  • hi. i was just wondering what u use. mac pro or mini?

  • great video!! altough your eyes look kind of wierd :)

  • The lighting is bad... :/

  • thats a really nice song

  • wtf i think you have terets syndrome or you just need some counceling

  • Them Strings... Please don't tell me you've stolen pachelbel's canon... haha !

  • Oh wow.. I didn't mean it.. really!! haha

  • hey ......nice tunes ! ....... I have one question, are you using the drum machine that comes with logic express 8, or another software?

    cheers from mexico city !

  • Thank you for the natural delivery. Thanks to you I have lost my fear of Ultrabeat instantly.

    Sounds cool too.Very sweet music

  • great! i gotta have that logic thingy :))

  • the guitar sounds amazing. dude you have to tell me what kind of hardware you have and use!!

  • Do you have any albums?

  • Hi Monkey looking Nick., i went to 3 forums and noticed people arguing over the specs of this thing, funny how some people slam the person asking the obvious question, and that is why where the specs disclosed from the public by Apogee!

  • thanks for the intro! and cool track too

  • Really great composition! (and mix)

  • is this gonna be your new single? lol.

yeah thanks for the guitar panning tip.

  • Great video Nate,

Would you prefer GarageBand ExpansionPack & AMG Triple Platinum Apple Loops or Logic Express 8??

I play the same style of music you do, are there enough drum, piano loops for pop-rock music in Logic?... What do you think?

  • Thnx man, this was the most helpful vid for logic ive seen. 5 stars, great job. Nice song too.

  • Hey man nice work... I've got a new Mac with OSX Leaopard and am currently using Garageband to make some tracks... I was wondering how do you get your garageband instruments into Logic? Thanks

  • The sweet thing is.. you don't have to! They're already there. You just need to open an instrumental track in logic, and then when you go to choose your instrument, there will be a category for garageband instruments. It's that easy.

  • cannon

  • ha, yeah.. pretty well-known chord progression
