The island represents our reality, it's a mystical place that brings equilibrium to the world. The energy of the place is disrupted throughout all humanity in flashes of daily life.

Don't confuse the Temple as being just a structure...Dogen existed to protect the people especially the candidates. The people are the Temple similar to Christ's Church as being composed of HIS believers. Granted they all seem to be owned by Flocke now, except those that have escaped to the beach. We will have to wait and see how the coming war changes the balance of good and evil. I wouldn't be suprised if there is a short list for replacing Flocke.  Jack/new Jacob, Sayid/new smokie lol

on this episode claire says to flocke when she going to deliver the message- "why dont you make jinn or sawyer do it". we never saw jinn join flocke so does this mean jinn is now infected, or has been made a similar offer by flocke to reunite him with sun?

Wheres Sawyer and jinn?-

claire asks flocke when shes standing outside the ash- "why dont you make sawyer or jinn do it" meaning go into the temple and deliver the message. she says make jinn do it, we never see jinn join flocke so does this mean hes now infected, or does it mean flocke made an offer to jinn saying he could reunite him with sun. ever way sounds like jinns joined flocke.

Where are Sawyer and Jin:

-Sawyer is on some mission set to him by Flocke to "go home" maybe retrieve dynamite or whatever. Jin is still in Claires home but I think by now he would have left there, possibly heading towards the Barracks, hoping to find Sun.

I think Dogen was protecting the temple because he was the master of the temple (the priest, minister, whatever) and was protecting it through his faith in Jacob or whatever, and when he was killed all that protection was gone.

actually if u wanted to be technical we should all be calling him what Terry O'Quinn, the actor who portrays him, calls him... which is "Puff" as in "Puff The Magic Dragon"... Casting sheet says Samuel but Puff is fine by me. If Terry likes it I'm down. He is the best actor on the show with Emerson following close behind. I just hate Flocke it's so gay and not in the homosexual way. You can't tell me Flocke sounds better than Smocke. I know by episode 15 we will learn his name because it is all about Jacob and Puff and takes place in the year 23AD.

Hmm didn't know bout the casting sheet saying Samuel... thx for that info. Agree totally about his and Emerson's acting prowess. They outshine the others by far (i would have given up long ago if not for those two) and the scenes when they're together are amazing... 'Dr Linus' was the best episode of the season so far imo... gr8 to see a bit of redemption for Ben... and yeah i don't like the 'Flocke' thing either...

number two:just a scenario:Dogan kills Flocke in the future and the ashes around the temple are Flocke´s ashes.Then it wouldn´t be possible for Flocke to cross his dead self (for whatever reason).But by killing Dogan he would undo history,just like the losties did during the incident.He would change his fate,would not be killed in the future,and therefore the problem with the ashes is not there anymore.Sorry if it´s too far-fetched,just a theory

My theory on Dogan&the ash:maybe the ash are of someone dead who for some reason Flocke cannot meet because of time travelling "laws" . And by killing Dogan,the road is freed, something changes in the history in one of the timelines and all of a sudden it is possible for Flocke to be close to this dead person whose ashes are lying there. This is theory number 1.

I'm not 100% convinced of the relationship between Dogen's death and the ash being made ineffective.

It could have been as simple as Nemesis getting one of his 'flock' to break the ash line for him.

We know Dogen was a barrier to Nemesis entering the temple from what Lennon said but imo Dogen and the ash were two seperate barriers to his entry.

Lennon knew the ash was no real barrier anymore cause he knew Nemesis now had followers who could have broken the line for him.
