@swarrior216 you took the words right out of my mouth. For anyone else that don't know. Logitech Harmony is by far the best remote to get. Whether you spend $300 or $60 their whole line is great. I have the Harmony 650 and if you look on eBay you can get them for around $45. Easy to set up and controls everything. You may have to push a few buttons to control things but at least it's only one remote.

No, sadly with apple's locked-down ecosystem there aren't really any official ways to use many of their products on other platforms. Thankfully Android gives users some freedom, so we have workarounds for AirPlay and iTunes remotes ;)

L5 remote controlled 3 devices for me tv ,cable box, stereo other app webee++ controlled my ps3 @ vnc controlled htpc 6 devices all controlled from my iPhone.

I use a Logitech Harmony 550 (which I got for free from a friend that works at Logitech) and the interface is almost idiot-proof. The controller set up isn't complicated if you plug it in to your pc. I haven't looked into TV remote apps for my iphone as I don't even use my TV anymore. It's still important to keep an all-in-one remote so you don't have to give someone else your iphone to operate the TV.
