I don't know why being filmed bothers anyone. It never bothered me. I'm just like go ahead and film. It only bothers me if they try to hide it like I'm dumb or something, then I'll call them out. But I never say "stop filming".
So why isn't he throwing the people off of the beach for disturbing the seals. Back*sswards hillbilly goldigging redneck cops. Someone has payed him to go there and take your camera. Since when is someone that is protecting wildlife a criminal? I have had areas closed to motorcycling and bicycling due to deer being spotted in the area. Now I don't ride anymore. But I now have even more respect for animals. Yet everyone else gets to trample on laws I have lived with. Find another beach human
I really dont give a FUCK about the seals. But this cop can NOT tell a citizen to stop filming while they are on PUBLIC PROPERTY. The cop does NOT have a choice in the matter. He is a PUBLIC OFFICIAL ON PUBLIC PROPERTY. You can take all the video you want of things on PUBLIC PROPERTY. This includes cops and other people. There is NO expectation to "privacy" on PUBLIC PROPERTY.
Its funny that the old lady stood her ground and kept filming. He had no right to touch her camera either.
Under NO circumstances turn off your camera. NEVER... Tell them you have a camera and you will shoot them with it. You are in your rights and you should send have sent this to the DA. Get mean. (But I disagree with you)
reminds me of Judge Dredd " I AM THE LAW!!!!" He had no right to be there, no right to demand you stop filming, no right to remove your signs to be closer to them. Just another guy with a chip on his shoulder with nothing to do. Typical police these days. How pathetic.
Watch: AMERICAN DRUG WAR and you can see how the Military, FBI and CIA - all of them SHIP IN the drugs to the USA. But yeah, its more important for this pig to fuck with this poor lady. God bless America indeed.
I REST MY CASE. Once this type of drone is taken out of the equation, we can get on with getting things back to some sort of normality. Not getting at cops; most are ok, but there's a growing number of this 'I'll make the law up as I go along' types, and that disturbs the hell out of me.
He doesn't want to be photographed because he is a fascist who is going to break the law and he knows it. He is a criminal. Cops love raping little boys in my hometown. Not one ever arrested. The record is 14 underage boys. Suck on that Police officers.
Not to be a cop hater, but..............why do cops not want to be videotaped??? I've seen this a lot where the cop is like "could you turn that off?" WHY?????? You dicks videotape the public, why cant we videotape you??? Don't want to be videotaped?...........Don't go out in public!!!!!
Once again, the camera saves the day... we should all carry cameras at all times. Congratulations to the poster for showing how a camera forces the police to act according to proper procedures or back off!
Keep filming these crooked cops and posting on utube!! The mainstream media has a almost blackout on the horrible police abuses that are going on all across America!!
yes, my dad's a lawyer. it is not illegal to video tape any persons or item on a public area or within 750 feet of a public area. They also do not have any right to confiscate ANYTHING, except for a controlled substance, stolen merchandise, thefted auto or a firearm without a license or permit. They also do not have the right to touch your property or touch you unless you have done something wrong or put the officer in danger.
I did have a problem with the guy giving you shit for no reason, but he should be aloud to put his hand on your camera. It's not against the law to film him in public, but its not against the law for him to cover the lens either. He looked like he was already having a bad day and felt like causing trouble. Good for you. Keep up the work and educate people about what little wildlife we have left.
He should to put his hand in front of the lens to obstruct the view of the camera, but actually placing his hand on the camera (someone's else property) is wrong.
You're mostly right. You did miss one thing thoh, if and only when a police officer has a search warent or probable cause they can take anything they want(as long as it is somewhat relevent to the case at hand)
Wait a minute..if u can film ANYONE on public property how come I cant video tape hot chicks in bikinis at the local pool? then they call me a pervert and slap the cuffs on...then i masterbate.
Hahah, I know his problem. He isn't up to date on codes and is afraid he's been taped not knowing, lol. Poor guy. Better read the handbook! This was good stuff. PROTECT THE SEALS!
I remember fondly when I was younger, my parents were involved in an accident with a big chested woman. She jumped the curb from behind us and hit the passenger side of the car. When the Cops arrive, they listened to our plea, but not writing anything down. Meanwhile, the lady that hit us is clearly flirting with the COPS and all laughing. When my father picked up the accident report, guess what? It was deemed OUR fault! At the time I was too young, and my folks didn't speak much English. USA!!
i don't know. I don't think this guy was that bad. He didn't seem to be abusing his power. People don't like to be on camera sometimes..but who knows..don't you have to get signed consent to film a person in the first place?
the police work for us the people and we have the right to film them when they are working kinda like a Nanny Cam remember if anything happens its your word VS the COP's word and if you have 45 minutes to spend on you-tube you will see how that could be the one thing that saves you ALWAYS KEEP THE CAMERA ON NO MATTER WHAT!in a few years it's going to be the norm but until then cops that are bully's will keep doin what do until they become famous like Deputy Todd J. Pierce or Salvatore Rivieri
Awesome! This woman stood up for her constitutional rights! That very ignorant cop was indeed abusing his power! He knew he was wrong and that woman had every right to video tape anything on public property. American cops are morons!
You handled that very well. Not getting upset but just saying "are abusing your power". It's funny how he couldn't retaliate in his usual manner with the camera on :)
Good on you girl for standing up to him. You are right & he knew it. He was trying to abuse his power, but you didn't let him. Everyone should be standing up for themselves against police who lie & decieve & abuse us. Click my name to see the cops try to harass me for filming them in my own front garden! Thanks and keep filming, this is important!
yeh kicking cop's in the nut's is not a good idea and I would know because one time out drinking I saw someone who thought it would be a good idea and it didnt work out to well for him. lol He really didnt like the pepper spray
haha he had to retreat. You did a very good job of being persistent but not getting mad. Sadly something I wouldnt be able to say about myself, had the roles been reversed
Most cops are high-school, what do you expect? There's NO law against filming in public, with only a few exception, a beach not being one of them, unless the cops conducting an investigation and asks you to move, otherwise he can't, that's why he left, but you're lucky you didn't get tased or sprayed with pepper spray
Hey I've been looking at videos of cops all night. "maniac" is not the word I would use here. I have been to the Seal Beach and support what you are doing. But in reality right or wrong for stopping you the cop did walk away. That is the most controlled appropriate response I have seen yet.
Police are just being told what to do. They are fuckin robots. They think just cuz they're "police" they think they have the freedom to boss us around. This needs to stop...
Good evidence. This stuff always happens but people usually get their tapes confiscated.
The police can have cameras and film the goings on,but WE'RE not allowed to?..What happened to fairness and equality?..Perps don't want to be filmed!..Police do it anyway...Police don't want to be filmed.Film them anyway...
I don't know why being filmed bothers anyone. It never bothered me. I'm just like go ahead and film. It only bothers me if they try to hide it like I'm dumb or something, then I'll call them out. But I never say "stop filming".
