I've been having butterflies in my stomach the whole day about stage fright, but when I heard that comment i cracked up in laughter and the nervousity is totally gone!
Heck, if you forget the words, you don't even have to look around at things and sing about them... Just make sounds that sound like words... It's called "David Lee Roth-ing it"
Good advice...my band played 45 songs Saturday and I forgot a couple lines here and there. So I repeated a line from previous verse, I kept the melody going but ad libbed some mumbo jumbo or I would kinda move around the mic so that my flub was less noticeable. It's going to happen but nobody remembers the small flubs as long as your set is 99% solid.
Im a rapper, a young 16 year old immigrant in sweden. and im gonna rap front of 1000 other youngsters all alone. im not scared, you know why? Passion baby, passion
i remember when i played with band former bandmates at a battle of the bands, we all suck, audience hate the bass player, the drummer broke the drums stick during a song, i jumped then the guitar lost the sound, i forgot some lyrics but i changed it so it wouldnt sound like a fake. great advice hope i heard this before it happened to us.
I have played with a singer who never got the lyrics to a perticular song right ever, but you can change stuff cos you are playing live so you can change what you want.
You just have to relax cos anything can go wrong, the drummer can drop a drumstick, the guitarest can break a string, an amp can blow, these things happen but no one there will now if it's wrong cos if you just commit to it.
You just have to get used to channeling that fear into you're performance.
Slim put it very well - being well prepared is key. Rehearse a lot, polish your stuff and use a MIRROR while doing it.
Oh yeah, wise use of strong minthol candies and Validol can help you overcome stage fright, relax your lungs and deepen voice, making it more stable too.
Definitely, Really knowing your song and the transitions. My mind went blank on an audition recently, I learned you have to prepare for all the problems that might go on, and figure out a way to help yourself out of it.
What I had to tell myself over and over again in the beginning was... not everyone is going to like what I do.
Once I really got that pounded into my head that helped my relax a lot and perform better.
What else helped me remember lyrics to my own tunes was getting a really rough recording down and just listening to it like I would anything else I was trying to learn.
Anyway, that's my advice to anyone that cares! :)
Great video once again Momo and everyone else in the zone.
I thought the guy with glasses was a blues musician.
