He was baiting us with the O.A.R. part, but he was right about it being a cover. They jam out to Led Zeppelin's "The Crunge," which they call "Anyone Seen The Bridge."
Well, in my opinion they used to sound great (good alternative music with lots of sax courtesy of Jerry) Unique in a way, you'd have to listen to it. Now, though, their music just sounds like pop rock- basically now it sounds like maybe 100 different songs that could be by several bands
I don't disagree with this one bit. That one song I heard on the radio a couple months ago was just repugnant.
OAR sold out for that one song, but can you blame them?
In this day in age of music, the majority of the public is repeatedly spoon-fed the same boring, repetetive, lackluster sounds on the radio... and everyone laps it up.
Although I don't agree with what they did, you have to recognize the genius in it. They came up with their own cheesy ass bullshit song to make money.
Well, I see your point. And not to single them out either, because I know they're not the only band to come out with some really unoriginal singles (DMB has even come out with a few of them).
But I bought their "All Sides" album, and I listened to all the songs on it, and they were basically just like "Shattered"- it wasn't just that one song, all of their most recent songs sound like that.
They were smart in making the single to make money, but they ruined the rest of their music with it
This is DMB playing Anyone Seen the Bridge, most likely into Too Much. Sorry folks, this isn't an OAR tune. I was hoping my dream of DMB covering OAR came true, but this isn't it.
@MoJoe1983 wrong, its anyone seen the bridge. its similar to the crunge and thats why they named it after a lyric in the crunge but it is not a cover.
I just a make the request to do a more posting. did you hear my question? Make the post of crazy game of cards by the Dave band. please. we love the oar songs when played by the dave band in Gromfiland home of the best beutiful girls on the world.
Dude me love a this Oar tune but I can barely hear it! I am from Gromfiland and we love the Dave Band! Please do a more posting of the Dave Band playing the Oar college style music songs. This make me happy as if I were the clam!!
O.A.R. sold out.. let's put a link on our website so it's easier for our fans to vote for us on TRL! like their original fans watch that mainstream B.S... dont flame me if it's not on there anymore, but i remember when it was when they released love & memories
ummmmm, anyone who knows dmb knows that this is a cover of 'anyone seen the bridge', which dmb uses to into to "too much". this in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM has anything to do with o.a.r. the only thing dmb has to do with o.a.r. is that they let them open on stage, gave them a break. don't get me wrong, i like o.a.r., actually saw them in toledo WAY before they ever went big. but let's just stick to the facts, DMB IS NOT COVERING O.A.R. HERE. CHANGE YOUR TITLE DUDE, IT'S FALSE ADVERTISING!!!
please!! he was 16, a prodigy student and the son of very earthy, swami parents. carter use to be a high school teacher, his father was a jazz trumpet player who urged him into music. LeRoi use to play in orchestras, actually founding the charlottesville swing orchestra. boyd originally wanted to be a rock musician, played with many different styles of music and had his own band when he was asked to play with dave. anything else?
dave is my main obsession, he deserves his own response. born in south africa, his family also lived on the east coast as well as england, back to s.africa before coming to america permanently so that dave wouldn't be drafted into the s. african army. he has an older brother and a younger sister, as well as an older sister who was murdered, and dave and his sister shared the raising of their niece and nephew. he originally went to college for acting. seriously, dmb is my passion.
it's a really sad thing when a person is berated or belittled just because they show passion about something that makes them happy. dmb IS a big obsession of mine, because their music gave me something to cling to in the years after my 1 year old daughter died from a freak accident. i met my husband through a dmb concert, and we have 2 great kids, and in my heart and mind, i owe lots of my happiness to this band.
so no, i'm not gay, i APPRECIATE. and i'm not wikipedia-ing anything. i read the books, i get in the dmb fan club and i made it a point to learn about the people who are making this music that i love so much. it a deeper form of appreciation, when you actually want to know about the lives of the people who unknowingly have given me so much. i hope you find something in your life that gives you as much joy as dmb gives me. then maybe you wouldn't be a hater.
I'm actually in the DMB fan club also. I've had front row seats multiple times. I singled you out because you come off as a know it all in your comment about DMB not covering OAR.. There are lots of video titles on here that are wrong. DMB is a great band but to call them your " main obsession " is pretty gay.
well, to each his own opinion and i will agree to disagree with you. i don't need for you to see things my way. you are clearly a teenage boy who has not much life experience, most stable grown ups don't feel the need to "name-call" at complete strangers on the internet, just because they expressed themselves in a way you wouldn't have. so, good-bye person. have a nice life and lighten up. i'm done talking to you.
yeah man i went to dave in june it was absolutely incredible
im really not feeling oar anymore though. i would go to a concert but if most if it is gonna be stuff off their new cd i probably wouldn't be as interested.
Dave clearly has the edge at least for now, way bigger fan base, and you're talking about one of the best touring bands over the past decade. OAR is a lot younger, and I love the sax, but give them some years before you even try and compare them to DMB.
Yeah i mean i know what your saying with that. all true. but i guess i just have been listening to o.a.r alot longer than DMB and im still getting into them/discovering them so its just my opinion. but yeah hopefully in a few years they'll go back to there old style of music instead of pop rock.
wow i COMPLETELY agree. i mean all sides and stories of a stranger are pretty good, but 34th and 8th is where its at. i went to there concert last night, and they had a decnt set list. lotsa new stuff. but encore was delicate few. which rocked. i still just love seeing them live and i think there an all around great band.
I also went to a DMB concert in august in memphis. THAT was a great show. I think that both bands are great in there own ways. but the atmosphere at oar was more amazing
They are both good bands. DMB jams out better than OAR but since my last OAR concert this year they have certainly improved over the years but their new CD can suck my left nut. I want them to go back to their old sound and stop with this pop bullshit. Which I beleive DMB claims to be doing with their new album. They should all go back to their old sound.
ok OAR is awesome, one of my favorite bands, but they aren't quite comparable to DMB. well, maybe that they both jam and are similar in genre, but talent wise and lyrical wise, dave crushes oar. oar is great but they are no better than any other band out there these days when it comes to their lyrics and music, dave is absolutely above them.
Geez. DMB vs. OAR, Tom Morello vs. Slash, Xbox vs. PS, UNC vs. Duke....geez, everyone's gotta ***** about something and blindly support their side while slamming the rest.
O.A.R. used to be amazing before the style of vocals changed for them DMB is so much better now but back when any time now was recorded it was pretty damn close but i still think DMB has more talent and i dont understand why everyone has to compliment one band and talk shit on the other chill out fellas
haha wow buddy oar and dmb cannot even be compared. dmb is way more lyrically and musically talented then oar. oar is just around for frat boys, oar is tryin to be a jam band these days but theres only one problem...they cant jam
Bronco, they compare very well, you fag. OAR is great, youve probably heard the two songs they have on the radio. Do you even like music, or is your favorite DMB song 'Crash', i bet your favorite Pearl Jam song is 'Evenflow' too right. Learn about music, if you cant even compare OAR to DMB, youre a fuckn moron, Im not saying theyre better, but they compare. Lyrically and musically theyre great, you just have no clue
There's a reason O.A.R. opens for DMB and not vice versa. O.A.R. is solid, but don't hold your breath if you ever expect them to match up. Unless they can can sing about something more interesting than poker and black rocks...
If Dave were to see that you tagged this as an OAR cover, he might drive to your house and slap you with an open hand until you fell unconcious to the floor. I can think of no worse insult that one could possibly bestow upon one of the best singer/song writers this world has ever known. Please take this down.
