  • 1979 relived man that was along time ago unreal

  • They don't make them like this anymore...

  • @lsueric1 I´m agree, this song is great

  • My advise to you all: Don't go too deep into thoughts while this song is playing without your significant other being near by or.... well, you know :-) Just make sure that you two are alone - lol, lol.

  • Wow!What an incredible voice!and handsome too!the whole package!love that!beautiful!love this!

  • One beautiful song...

Afffff..... Abraços

  • ONE OF MY VERY FIRST ALBUMS

  • This is a great song 100% perfect

  • I just want....electrolysis. lol

  • This is pretty sad...I actually had to argue with my grandmother. She was convinced that he was a black man. I kept trying to tell her that his name is Gino Vannelli, ergo he is Italian. She just wouldn't buy it.

Never made a difference to me. I just was wondering why she was SO convinced about it or why she even thought it mattered.

Hey, it's an awesome song, grandma, who cares what the background of the singer may be?

  • @brianab31 lol. that's funny. you know how the old folks are.

  • @filmsmetanoia I guess so. It never made a difference to my grandparents on my dad's side. Thankfully, I suppose they were at the forefront of the enlightened, non-ignorant, ones. I'm glad that such thinking has become more the norm these days. Hopefully this intelligent "affliction" continues to grow! Right?

  • @brianab31 People have thought the same thing about Rick Astley - that he is black because of the timber of his voice ... I'm with you, though. Who cares? Gino Vanelli, Rick Astley, Lou Rawls, etc. Just amazing voices/musicians! <3

  • Was blessed to be a kid in the 70s and growing up listening to romantic music.

  • fantastico gino. the best

  • This song has such " MEMORIES " from the late 70's into the 80's ,totally remind's me of my 1st girlfriend walking hand n hand on a fall autumn day in the park looking into 1 another's eye's smiling 4ever saying wwe love 1 another, wow only if we could freeze time.

  • Great song from a great time. Definitely nostalgic for me. Thanks so much for posting TheGINOvannelli.

  • wow!! Never get tired of this song. Brings back wonderful memories. Thanks Gino.

  • Outstanding song reminds me of laredo texas

  • Is there still a Gino's Pizza Restaurant?

  • This song is beautiful...first heard it when i was about...uhhh 9?

  • ;p

  • I just wanna stop...sultry!

  • great to hear this song again!

  • All I can say is two things: I'm not an adult, and I am in the wrong era. That's all I'm sayin'!

  • @MrTKDWillie ....Willie?I was in 11th grade when this song was out and have great memories slow dancing with Allison Marino at the high school dance to this song.....wouldnt trade that memory for ANYTHING!!!....lol

  • @chrisporter61 Shucks! I am certainly happy for you there. It would sure be nice to have an experience like that! Unfortunately though, if I go to a high school dance I'm stuck listening to what sounds like something utterly pathetic and senseless...an absolute disgrace to "music" (i.e, rap, hip-hop, and other CRAP like that which passes for music these days). And if I decide to dance to it because I came to dance? I feel just like the trash shrieking from the speakers...lol, it sucks.

  • Gino Vannelli is one of the most underrated artists of all-time!!!! His musicians are magnificent!!!!! In PEACE and LOVE!!!! Sonny

  • We played the hell out of this album in college! Awesome!

  • It looks like Castaway. Is that Wilson in the background?

  • @lisat13able I totally agree with you!!! Gino, Ambrosia, Paul davis, Poco, etc... Now that was real music! Thank god for youtube for bringing it all back to us.

  • @MegaPurpleviolet You both have great taste in music...they really don't make

them like this anymore! I love purple flowers of every sort...even wrote a sappy

poem called Lady Bugs and Purple Flowers...How corny is that? Oh well, it all

has to come out somehow! Peace Man...Keep On Rollin'...!

  • This is baby making music. I'm 35 and was only 2 years old when this song came out, but can remember hearing it on the radio growing up in the 1980's.

  • @bobafettfan32 THAT.....is so sweet. Awwwww. God bless you.

  • I was around at the time when this song was first launched and....if I can remeber also....this song was in that movie Flashdance....thanks all!

  • 7 people are deaf.

  • This album reminds me of my brother who passed away 23 years ago. He "discovered" it and turned me on to it in the mid-late seventies. Thanks bro.....

  • ty for putting this up

  • great song !!

  • I was born in the 1970s.

    I stayed there.

  • This song got a lot of air play from 79-1982 on WOKI-FM Knoxville during the "Brother John" days. High school, those were the days. Great times, great music.

  • The sound was just great with the horns,I used to sell a whole lot of amps and speakers with Gino and Earth Wind&Fire as well as heavy metal, rock/jazz.

look up Flash in the Pan(walking in the Rain)is Angus Young's brother.

I love the old stuff but I like a lot of the new stuff also.

  • nope he is still around, and still fine...though I miss the wild curls of the late 70's. God bless Don Cornelius of Soul Train for introducing him. Blew my mind!

  • did he died?

  • @jgtpants5190 No, he is still alive.

  • I just wanna keep listening

  • Truly songs!

  • underrated to tears.

  • Just how many Canadians are at the top of all time music anyway, like most of them!

  • Gino Vannelli,Bobby Caldwell,Boz Scaggs,Todd Rundgren are the best white male vocalists in the 70's regarding soul.....

  • @SolsburyHill22 Jon B, new school, but good sound. Also McDonald.

  • @SolsburyHill22 How can you leave out Hall & Oates when it comes to 70's blue eyed soul? What about Rod Stewart?

  • @bucky468 Yeah your right apologies, I just thought those artists off the top of my head when I first commented.

  • @SolsburyHill22 I agree. Those men can sing. Bobby Caldwell is one of my favorites. I forgot how much I loved to listen to Gino Vannelli until tonight. God bless you. Have a blessed week.

  • @SolsburyHill22 dude michael mcdonald too

  • @SolsburyHill22 >> No disrespect to the men you listed, but how in the world did you forget DARYL HALL? The singer of 70s soulful classics such as "Sara Smile", "She's Gone" and "Rich Girl" has to be at the top of your 1970s 'Blue-Eyed Soul' singers chart.

  • @rogerplummer2 Yeah, how could I have left him out...what a voice he had, what a lyricist for that matter.

  • @SolsburyHill22 Michael Mcdonald, Richard Page and David Pack are up there too.

  • @SolsburyHill22 lets not forget about Christopher Cross and James what ever his last name is lol. The guy who sang You've got friend.

  • @jwk290 Taylor

  • @7zarc7 I agree...one of the great songs of 1978!

  • i still have this vinyl from the late 70's.

  • Classic

  • Classic song, I never get tired of it.

  • 5 people shouldn't have internet

  • sweet music

  • love the way Kanye sampled this on his first album.....

  • Mary Delaney, you got to be kidding, Stop is all you should do.

You can't help it that no one wants to be with you in Montreal or any place else.

Your Daughter had yo move across the country just to get away from you and that is a fact.

So as the song says, JUST STOP, and as the other song says, JUST GO AWAY!

  • @SteveHannelly I once had a friend long ago who was always glad to see me and once gave me scissors from his kitchen drawer and said go out and pick yourself those roses and we put them in a vase in the middle of his very fine dining room table and they were elegant and beautiful to see for a long long time.

  • i can't believe this - i played this for my girlfriend, who never heard it, and she calls it elevator music, so i told her to go to hell ... geez, can you believe anyone who wouldn't love this song?

  • @blueinfinite lol.. I agree... Long live GOOD music...

  • @blueinfinite Good call! Using music as a litmus test can tell you a lot really, especially about someone's values and emotional maturity. If a girl likes a classic slow jam like this, you know she must have a sentimental, introspective personality and enjoy the simple sweet things in life. If not, well...I hate to generalize, but most people who can't appreciate good music have, shall we say, deeper personality defects going on.

  • @RationalDischarge Wow! Very well said Rational.

  • @blueinfinite man i would love to be stuck in an elevator with this track playing man lol

  • @murdok620 couldn't have said it better myself ...

  • ABSOLUTELY RARE VOICE THANK YOU GINO.

  • OMG! I remember when I was a kid, my mother had this album...wow...I feel "dated" lol

  • Gino has such a smooth voice... I am QUITE fond of his singing... Talk about a Canadian treasure...

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEE, this song! I have it on LP, and CD. The entire album, is a masterpiece. Gino Vanelli, is one of the greatest male singers, of all time. The musical and vocal arrangements, pull you in. Mr. Vanelli, bares his soul, in this song. I have downloaded, to my MP3 and burned it to CD, for the car!

Thank you, so much for posting!

  • The 70's....GREAT MEMORIES!!! :)

  • I've never said Thank You to "YouTube" for this technology of being able to hear this awesome music this way!

  • god i miss him,,, just for fun who had the HOTTER SEXY 1970'S HAIR GINO VANELLI OR CALOS SANTANA???

    ty for the post

  • @lisa4615 Gino by far!!

  • @lisa4615

Gino - I was in love with him.

  • Gino really sang from his heart on this song.

  • Kanye sample this song for his first track on the College Dropout Album.

  • I love this song...

is anybody going to bring the man perm back?

  • @430amy I sure hope not!

  • Here's another flash back in the 70's, Gino Vannelli. I've still have the album today. Richard is your fault, you started it.

  • The summer of 1978. This song and Ambrosia's "How much do I feel" were the hallmark songs of this time in music history.

  • @efrem1 Yesssss - Ambrosia was smooth like Gino was!

  • to dance too close

  • Also, realy nice recording! Some of them are so crappy but this was great!

  • I have always Loved this song! It's such a classic it has been covered by many, many other artists but this is the real deal. No one does it like Gino! Thanks for sharing the memories!

  • JUST TO LET ALL the people know or a trivia question who was the 1st. white guy on soul train (hint your litsening to him) that's how good he was with his song.

  • @erainner No Way...Really??? My WHITE family LOOOVED watching Soul Train in the 70's!!! I actually thought American Bandstand was a bit funny watching people that couldn't dance!! Gino Vanelli....Beautiful Voice!!!

  • @tinytoes409 How funny! My family used to watch 'Soul Train', and we thought the same tihng... I don't think that blacks are INSTINCTIVELY better dancers, but CULTURALLY, yes... But luckily both of my parents could dance well...

  • @erainner HMMM I THOUGHT KC WAS ?? ? EVEN THOUGH HE HAD THE SUNSHINE BAND BEHIND HIM ?? LIKE IN 75

  • @erainner I already knew that because that's what Cornelius said in an interview good thing he recogzined good music no matter the race of the person making it I loved when he was on Soul Train it was a great moment.

  • 1978 was the year 2010 is not

  • Three people don't seem to have any soul...sad.. :(

  • One of the best ever by any artist!

  • "High Class" sound at it' best.

Montrealer Vannelli, made one of the greatest "classic" "easy listning" song ever, with this one, was playing non stop back in 1979... 32+ years later still sounds great, we ear it quit often on FM radios.

Great tune that will never go out of style.

  • Billboard's #75 song of '79. Gino hit #4 pop, and AC, #21 soul in the US. How'd he do in Canada, his homeland? God bless ya, brother Gino!

  • I Just Wanna Stop topped the Canadian Pop Chart for 2 weeks

  • Beautiful, sexy, sophisticated and urban chic. He carries this song so well , and I love the ladies in the intro ''For your love..."

thanks for sharing this song, it brings back nice memories for me
