My advise to you all: Don't go too deep into thoughts while this song is playing without your significant other being near by or.... well, you know :-) Just make sure that you two are alone - lol, lol.
@teainthesahara1 Oi, aqui em Curitiba tem a rádio Ouro Verde onde ainda passam essas músicas mais antigas que são muito boas de ouvir, porque no resto é só lixo. Afffff..... Abraços
This is pretty sad...I actually had to argue with my grandmother. She was convinced that he was a black man. I kept trying to tell her that his name is Gino Vannelli, ergo he is Italian. She just wouldn't buy it.
Never made a difference to me. I just was wondering why she was SO convinced about it or why she even thought it mattered.
Hey, it's an awesome song, grandma, who cares what the background of the singer may be?
@filmsmetanoia I guess so. It never made a difference to my grandparents on my dad's side. Thankfully, I suppose they were at the forefront of the enlightened, non-ignorant, ones. I'm glad that such thinking has become more the norm these days. Hopefully this intelligent "affliction" continues to grow! Right?
@brianab31 People have thought the same thing about Rick Astley - that he is black because of the timber of his voice ... I'm with you, though. Who cares? Gino Vanelli, Rick Astley, Lou Rawls, etc. Just amazing voices/musicians! <3
This song has such " MEMORIES " from the late 70's into the 80's ,totally remind's me of my 1st girlfriend walking hand n hand on a fall autumn day in the park looking into 1 another's eye's smiling 4ever saying wwe love 1 another, wow only if we could freeze time.
@MrTKDWillie ....Willie?I was in 11th grade when this song was out and have great memories slow dancing with Allison Marino at the high school dance to this song.....wouldnt trade that memory for ANYTHING!!!....lol
@chrisporter61 Shucks! I am certainly happy for you there. It would sure be nice to have an experience like that! Unfortunately though, if I go to a high school dance I'm stuck listening to what sounds like something utterly pathetic and senseless...an absolute disgrace to "music" (i.e, rap, hip-hop, and other CRAP like that which passes for music these days). And if I decide to dance to it because I came to dance? I feel just like the trash shrieking from the speakers...lol, it sucks.
How these old 70's love songs bring me back to my twenties, and a girl i was in love with at the time. I supose your married now and have a bunch of fat ugly kids. Should of never left me Judy .
@lisat13able I totally agree with you!!! Gino, Ambrosia, Paul davis, Poco, etc... Now that was real music! Thank god for youtube for bringing it all back to us.
Montreal 1970s a 4 1/2 appartment, my sisters (then teenagers) would belt this song while blasting it on the old Marconi Phonograph gives me such fond memories as a little boy of 8.
I always think of one other song by a group......I always think of Ambrosia....I think of their song How Much I Feel when I hear this......I guess it is was because radio would play them pretty close together
my mother sometime drove me crazy with this song but the funny thing about this song is that i love it every time this song comes on the radio it puts a smile on my face...
@DaveWollenberg Is Gino Vannelli still singing and recording? God bless him and God bless you Dave. Hope you all are doing great. I love Gino's music.
This is baby making music. I'm 35 and was only 2 years old when this song came out, but can remember hearing it on the radio growing up in the 1980's.
This album reminds me of my brother who passed away 23 years ago. He "discovered" it and turned me on to it in the mid-late seventies. Thanks bro.....
This song got a lot of air play from 79-1982 on WOKI-FM Knoxville during the "Brother John" days. High school, those were the days. Great times, great music.
The sound was just great with the horns,I used to sell a whole lot of amps and speakers with Gino and Earth Wind&Fire as well as heavy metal, rock/jazz.
look up Flash in the Pan(walking in the Rain)is Angus Young's brother.
I love the old stuff but I like a lot of the new stuff also.
nope he is still around, and still fine...though I miss the wild curls of the late 70's. God bless Don Cornelius of Soul Train for introducing him. Blew my mind!
@SolsburyHill22 I agree. Those men can sing. Bobby Caldwell is one of my favorites. I forgot how much I loved to listen to Gino Vannelli until tonight. God bless you. Have a blessed week.
@SolsburyHill22 >> No disrespect to the men you listed, but how in the world did you forget DARYL HALL? The singer of 70s soulful classics such as "Sara Smile", "She's Gone" and "Rich Girl" has to be at the top of your 1970s 'Blue-Eyed Soul' singers chart.
@SteveHannelly I once had a friend long ago who was always glad to see me and once gave me scissors from his kitchen drawer and said go out and pick yourself those roses and we put them in a vase in the middle of his very fine dining room table and they were elegant and beautiful to see for a long long time.
i can't believe this - i played this for my girlfriend, who never heard it, and she calls it elevator music, so i told her to go to hell ... geez, can you believe anyone who wouldn't love this song?
@blueinfinite Good call! Using music as a litmus test can tell you a lot really, especially about someone's values and emotional maturity. If a girl likes a classic slow jam like this, you know she must have a sentimental, introspective personality and enjoy the simple sweet things in life. If not, well...I hate to generalize, but most people who can't appreciate good music have, shall we say, deeper personality defects going on.
I LOVEEEEEEEEE, this song! I have it on LP, and CD. The entire album, is a masterpiece. Gino Vanelli, is one of the greatest male singers, of all time. The musical and vocal arrangements, pull you in. Mr. Vanelli, bares his soul, in this song. I have downloaded, to my MP3 and burned it to CD, for the car!
I played this song 13 times in a row in a jukebox in a fishermans coffeeshop on the ocean in the hamptons 1980 with the man I should have married, waiting for the sun to come up.
I have always Loved this song! It's such a classic it has been covered by many, many other artists but this is the real deal. No one does it like Gino! Thanks for sharing the memories!
JUST TO LET ALL the people know or a trivia question who was the 1st. white guy on soul train (hint your litsening to him) that's how good he was with his song.
@erainner No Way...Really??? My WHITE family LOOOVED watching Soul Train in the 70's!!! I actually thought American Bandstand was a bit funny watching people that couldn't dance!! Gino Vanelli....Beautiful Voice!!!
@tinytoes409 How funny! My family used to watch 'Soul Train', and we thought the same tihng... I don't think that blacks are INSTINCTIVELY better dancers, but CULTURALLY, yes... But luckily both of my parents could dance well...
@erainner I already knew that because that's what Cornelius said in an interview good thing he recogzined good music no matter the race of the person making it I loved when he was on Soul Train it was a great moment.
Montrealer Vannelli, made one of the greatest "classic" "easy listning" song ever, with this one, was playing non stop back in 1979... 32+ years later still sounds great, we ear it quit often on FM radios.
awesome song reminds me of my freind and i driving to san antonio

@tinytoes409 How funny! My family used to watch 'Soul Train', and we thought the same tihng... I don't think that blacks are INSTINCTIVELY better dancers, but CULTURALLY, yes... But luckily both of my parents could dance well...

"High Class" sound at it' best.
Montrealer Vannelli, made one of the greatest "classic" "easy listning" song ever, with this one, was playing non stop back in 1979... 32+ years later still sounds great, we ear it quit often on FM radios.
Great tune that will never go out of style.

Billboard's #75 song of '79. Gino hit #4 pop, and AC, #21 soul in the US. How'd he do in Canada, his homeland? God bless ya, brother Gino!
