ann confidently says "come see us!" and i heard her say that same thing on radio around 1987 she knew their shows would prove they were outstanding artists more than talking about their craft would.
would have been great for Heart if Eastern Europe could have heard heart's music and been able to buy it back then. japan got to see all american artists back then.
Well the trees in the video tell me its the Pacific Northwest where I live close to Ann,I believe its a live stream to Japan. Most likely King 5 or Komo Seattle tv stations.
@babyj1996 Most tv shows seemed to,I suspect the band had no say,one of the rare occasions when Heart was not fully live.I still eat sushi though! ; )
I love the Japanese people at the bottom of the screen talking to the reporter, it's a very odd, different kind of interview. As always, Ann and Nance are dressed like night and day. :) Kind of their 'thing'. Grogeous women, great song.
Thanxxx LOVESHEART!!!....They look great and it really takes me back 2 the ol'hair extention days when I met them 4 the very 1st time in Las Vegas!...They were angels and treated me so well...I thought I died and went 2 heaven!...I really love this look 4 them....it was kind of cute and funny while it lasted....funny cause thier hair was as big as ours back then! If your shoulder pads and hair weren't that big then u just weren't that cool!!!...remember?...tee hee hee!
Bloody twinkies, what are rare and special treat. I'd ask, "Where the heck did you find this", but seeing it was posted by LOVESHEART, Anything Is Possible! Thx! <3
Well 2 arguments about them NOT performing live for a tv audience (back then).... one: it's after 6am Seattle time so Heart couldn't be at their highest energy. two: for tv audiences would probably hear crap if they heard it a live song back then. Definitely now it can be better if plaing a song live but in 1985 there werent a lot of bands playing live to a tv audience.
She really did look irritated (rightly so) by the age question. This is rare footage, but painful to watch. I didn't like 80s Heart. They went from Tolkien to Dynasty, and stopped writing their own material. Yuk.
Yeah, some record co exec's vision of what Heart should look and sound like.Another chapter in their long successful career.I think their in a really happy place now,on the Artists lable, how cool is that!
In reference to their question regarding their ages, I wish I could ask the TV hosts "What do you think about the fact that Ann and Nancy wilson are 58 and 54 years old and still RAWKING OUT you stupid jerks?
Not to my knowledge. I was 14 and so into them. They had some press coverage: interviews, promo pictures and concert shots in various rock and pop magazines at that time, but besides the 4 accompanying videos to the singles (If Looks Could Kill didn't have a video), that was it. I would've freaked out to have seen this footage back then!!
Imagine having to be all dolled up 80's style at the un-rock-star hour of 6AM!
Ann seems genuinely miffed at the comment about their ages. At 2:43, while the presenters in Japan are nattering away, the interviewer tells Ann she's sorry about the age question. "You should be," Ann replies, "you don't generally ask women that question."
Thanks for pointing that out about Ann's reply about the age question unRompecabezas, I could tell Ann was miffed too but I did not hear Ann's reply until you pointed it out. I too am glad she called them on their rudeness, because the Japanese do not like it when foreigners do things that they find disrespectful in their country, like the shoes off custom etc. etc.
Lovesheart has the best heart videos! I love how theatrical the 80's were! I feel for A&N when they were being interviewed, Ive spent alot of time in Tokyo, its like "Say what?" Also loved it when Ann comes walking out of that bldg and just keeps singing. That was fun to watch!
Curious: do you also have the other Japanese program? The one with the band on that show with the bouquet of flowers, the weird up and down camera scan (lol) and the (lipsync) performance of "Nothin' At All?" Love that too.
THANKS so much for posting this! My god I love how Ann looks here. I always thought that this was via sattelite from Seattle, but then Cyndi Lauper has the same Japanese show footage from 1986, so obviously it was part of the show. Surreal, yes indeed! "Can you please get ready for the song?" She said the same thing to Cyndi! Haha.
i love this video !! ANN knows she is sexy !
