When I was in the AF band in London,we used to do a routine with this number. The people ate it up,but we(the band) mostly hated all the dancing and stuff we gad to do.I still detest playing in a marching band.
I love Big Band music. If anybody has not seen a Big Band concert, go see one. The best music ever. It doesnt matter which Band to see, You will never forget it.
1952 Keesler AFB Biloxi,MS I was one of 6,000'A' shift airmen going tech school,5:30am marching 12 abreast to recorded marches.6 hours later marching to the base band, passing in review 6 days a week. This march woke us up and bid us good day. To this day I staighten up shoulders back eye right when I hear it played.
this is an awesome song and the way its sopposed to be played ive heard many renditions of it screwing it up this is whart is supposed to be this is why the st. louis blues of the nhl are the blues. this is how the song is sopposed to be done
If you haven't seen the army marching scene in the "Glenn Miller Story" you are really missing something special. St. Louis Blues March is even more jazzed up in the movie & James Stewart turned in a fine performance as Glenn Miller.
Years ago, the University of Missouri marching band did a great rendition of the St. Louis Blues March. Glad to see the memories here with the GMO...thank you so much for posting this!

The tune never gets old, it's timeless. It's #132 in the GMO book. I love it every time we play it.
