did "enginemasterbuilder" actually say "do i hear a bad rod bearing?" apparently you have never heard a rod knock. much more crisp and fast (at 1400 rpm it would 'knock' 23 times a second.) sounds like a slightly loose lifter is all
@digzie1 Diesel uses compression for detonation, with higher manifold pressure. It's slow rev, sounds different, uses different fuel, every indicator I heard was rod or lifter spring. Where in the world do you get oil pan out of this? If this were a about to be dead diesel with no oil, yeah, but at that stage, you've killed the motor, new oilpan or not. Seize-up-knock isn't the same as rod-knock, it's more of a death-rattle.
its not a rod i bet it it was a rocker not adjusted right new motor you have to adjust um after they pump up with oil you know i would say they was just loose a bit just my thoughts
@buchsdrn the headers would have hit the engine stand and they fit in either direction. As for the "rod knock" the video was taken on a cheap camera phone and it could not handle the noise at that level.
that sounded sweeett!

there just bolted on upside down, probably so he can lay the motor on the floor and the headers wont hit the floor
buchsdrn 3 years ago 3
that or to keep the exhaust outside his shop.

so you won't be standing on hot headers setting the timing

something does sound like its knocking, but it might just be the sound quality of the video cam.
