Nice fish, you should look into investing in an ice saw, they smooth out the hole's really nicely and cut through ice like butter.

very nice guys, i live in wisconsin and we go to the u.p. to northern spear every year. i hear that its a dying sport and thats kind of sad. The only spearing we can do here in wisconsin is sturgeon spear in lake winnebago, i really would want to bring pike spearing here. well good luck this winter, very nice video and i love it when you show how the fish is utilized and respected

Actually its proven with extensive research that fish do not feel pain as we do. Its a numb feeling that they get. Their brains do not have the pain receptiors that work like ours either...

I fish for pike, and there have been several times that on removing the hooks, with each jolt of pressure used to remove the barbless hook, the pike's tail fin curls upwards. I release the pressure on the hook, the fin drops back. Personally I do believe they experience pain, only through the experiences as mentioned above. Why do we curl our toes or grip the chair when at the dentist? Coz that sh*t hurts!. If it bleeds, it hurts..

@Gringoire2001 they dont have the proper "circuitry" to experience what we call pain. difference in pressure though i can see fish experiencing. the recognition that something is disrupting their muscles and reacting to it the only way they can, by contracting the muscle.

what lake were you on? and why did you have a regular hook down as well? we never use regular hooks in the same hole (not to mention i dont think its legal) i thinik that would cause problems with tangling lines.
