look here , the law where u release the fish and people say its respecting the fish. People fish for sport for some , but don't forget the most common rule. survival of the fittest. they are food to us and this method purely shows how our intelligence beats theirs. the thing i hate the most is that people keep pets. this is not something cruel or stupid , its normal
@clubpenguinidiot You cannot compare survival of the fittest from animals to humans. Are you saying tigers are almost extinct because they're not fit?? No animal is fit enough against humans. We should be able to harvest fish/animals so long as we MAINTAIN their habitat and population. like stocking fish for example. You idiot fucking penguin.
Thats fucking disgusting ...pike shouldnt be killed here in Ireland we have a catch and release law along with a law making sure all treblers are barbless. This is truly shameful havre some respect for what you catch.
I live up in Northern British Columbia and those Northerns are babies up here but perfect sise to eat.Pike is one of the best eating fish just have to learn how to take out the Y-bone
You guys are the whole reason that bowfishing and spearing get bad names because of stupid people that stick game fish instead of what you are supposed to spear if the two sports get outlawed we have people like you to blame for ruining it for everyone else!
y did you let that one go that you got on the luer not that im like this but i mean you could have saved the fish some trouble and pain and saved yourself the trouble of spearing him
very nice guys, i live in wisconsin and we go to the u.p. to northern spear every year. i hear that its a dying sport and thats kind of sad. The only spearing we can do here in wisconsin is sturgeon spear in lake winnebago, i really would want to bring pike spearing here. well good luck this winter, very nice video and i love it when you show how the fish is utilized and respected
Actually its proven with extensive research that fish do not feel pain as we do. Its a numb feeling that they get. Their brains do not have the pain receptiors that work like ours either...
@AkChamp130 - No offence but where is this 'extensive research' listed that suggests fish don't feel pain? Kinda makes me wonder as to what their 'lateral line' is for. Just curious..
@AkChamp130. Ok, but the word 'feels' kinda sums it up for me.
I fish for pike, and there have been several times that on removing the hooks, with each jolt of pressure used to remove the barbless hook, the pike's tail fin curls upwards. I release the pressure on the hook, the fin drops back. Personally I do believe they experience pain, only through the experiences as mentioned above. Why do we curl our toes or grip the chair when at the dentist? Coz that sh*t hurts!. If it bleeds, it hurts..
@Gringoire2001 they dont have the proper "circuitry" to experience what we call pain. difference in pressure though i can see fish experiencing. the recognition that something is disrupting their muscles and reacting to it the only way they can, by contracting the muscle.

Of course getting jabbed by a spear hurts , Every fish can feel pain, but these fish are for eating, and thats the whole point, cleany killed as soon as they are out of the water.
what lake were you on? and why did you have a regular hook down as well? we never use regular hooks in the same hole (not to mention i dont think its legal) i thinik that would cause problems with tangling lines.

Nice fish, you should look into investing in an ice saw, they smooth out the hole's really nicely and cut through ice like butter.

@Gringoire2001 look it up its true. The lateral line feels pressure changes in the water via vibration. Much different than pain
