Hey....this was really cool! Easy to understand and great visuals. I am getting one light for the hair light, one main Alien Bees light and thought I could use my Speedlite as the 2nd fill light.
I love how you got it mounted on the ceiling.
I am still trying to learn about strobe lighting setups now.
Would you just take that umbrella light for outside shoots?
The Vagabond II can power up to 6 different flash units at one time. I have tried it up to 3 Flash units. 2 were b800's and one arb 800 ring flash and it worked for me probably for about 1100 shots. what you do is get a surge protector and just connect your units and fire away.
Is that pack an Alien Bees Vagabond II? Can you please tell me if the Vagabond II can power the White Lightning X-Series X1600 Flash Unit as well as the The AlienBees B1600. Also I have a Photoflex Medium 5' Octodome and I would like to know if I can fit that on either of the heads I mentioned here? Will the Vagabond power my Photoflex 650w/s head? I need to know, please help someone, anyone?I want to be able to shoot on location and outpower the sun for effect. Help please, anyonoe???
@wondnaereh -yes it can, the Vagabond II is an updated version of the original vagabond...which incidentally powers my Profoto Acute 2400, and my White Lightning X1600 units. As for the octodome all you need is a speed ring from Paul Buff (White Lightning/Alien Bees)
@wondnaereh - yes it will, albeit a bit slow to recharge and I don't usually plug the Profoto pack and the x1600 at once, but it will power it and it will fire it. You will get less pops with it, since it using a multiple units.
Since I have the original one and it's a bit old, I use it with just one flash unit nowadays....I actually need to get another one.
wow I'm about to purchase everything u have there...it's good to know I'm not entirely out in left field when it comes to what to buy considering I'm just getting into thise whole photography thing. Yay for Alien Bees! I'll have a similar set up to you, and I'll be sure to you tube it! great vid.
