start hitting the weight room man, i started my freshman year of highschool and im now a junior and i went from not being able to stay under it all to 375 rev rate and my wrist in almost as strong a position as rhino pages with only a 4 1/16 inch hand span.
I don't know how old you are or if there is a specific reason why you need a wrist guard but if you're not over 70 years old and you've never had a wrist injury you're hindering the progression of your game by wearing a wrist guard. I was curious about a Rico drilling once until I realize that my rev rate wasn't high enough to need one. Also my PAP is 6 1/8 over and 1/4 up which means I stay right up behiind the ball. The Rico drilling tends to roll over the thumb for me.
@spikenn616 I'm just simply not strong enough to keep my fingers far enough under the ball to create any revs without wearing one. I've been practicing for like four months now, and I still get only about half the revolutions I get wearing the brace. I can't keep my wrist from breaking back at all unless I really, really strain hard, and to do that I have to clench both my fingers and thumb as well, which obviously isn't good for a clean release.
Very entertaining video. Rico drilling is for high rev players on a burned up shot. Watching someone with a wrist guard throwing a ball that supposedly has a Rico on it makes me giggle like a school girl. Of course we never actually see the lay out on the ball. Also if your PAP is 6 inches or more over its not a good drilling for you either.
@spikenn616 And yet I've thrown an 800 with a stronger ball (Storm Prodigy) that has a similar layout, only it's actually slightly lower-flaring with the pin and x-hole shifted slighty further left. It's for more than just high rev guys -- it's excellent for controlling the ball's motion off the back of the pattern on fresh oil with clean backends, and creating good, continuous motion when moving deeper as the shot dries out. For what it's worth, PAP is 5 1/4" over by 3/4" up.
@spikenn616 Also, I actually do not like the ball I'm throwing in this video just beause the Storm Banshee is not a very good ball for me no matter what layout's on it. The coverstock is just too weak and really struggles in anything resembling oil, and the entry angle it creates isn't very good on drier patterns.
@dougbce actually the AI is VERY useful when mapped out for a RICO layout. it's very simple to plug and redrill a ball (which you should have done ANYWAY to match your personal specifications, span/finger and thumb pitch etc) but you could have also changed the layout.
you're obviously doing something wrong if you can't use that ball with the RICO layout. either you don't have the fingers for it, or you're using it on the wrong condition with the wrong ball surface.
Wrong. I don't work for/never have worked for Brunswick (and don't really like their stuff; I'm throwing an old Storm ball here). There were lots of questions and confusion about this specific layout on ballreviews(dot)com who assumed it would hook really early no matter what, and I tried to show people what it really does to alleviate confusion. That being said, I *personally* don't like the layout much (extremely condition-specific for my game, as you can see) and almost never throw this ball.
Ric Hamlin, he used to work for Brunswick. He still posts at ballreviews(DOT)com under the username JustRico if you want to ask him about anything bowling-related.

@dougbce you're an idiot. try making an adjustment. or learning to bowl. an absolute inferno should never be a spare ball.

i use rico too but if u have lots of revs it still can be aggresive but its more for control.
