I was there when they were taking it down. Each day I watched it in the bus to each park letter by letter it was cool! But I really want to ride it :| they renovated it so you come out the back of SSE so some parts must be new on it.
so the ball looks like something i should lick and not want to take a pic of. I miss the Epcot wand. Epcots GM is not someone that was good for the park.
There are those who miss the wand. Thank God I'm not one of them. Spaceship Earth was beautiful the way it was. Just its simplicity was enough for it to be remembered. Then Disney stuck that awful piece of garbage on top of it.

I made the video as a fan of WDW, Epcot, Spaceship Earth and The Wand. The video was done, definitely as a parody (I made it to use on our free online Disney fan TV show - titled; Beyond Main Street)and I wanted it to be a little hokey, silly, and funny. That said, I am big fan of The Wand and still will miss it - so to me it does bum me a bit. Thanks for the comments everyone. -LOU
I liked the wand for the Millenium Celebration, but I thought it became completely unnecessary after that. And when they added "Epcot" to it, it became extremely tacky. Epcot (well, EPCOT Center anyway) was never intended to be tacky, but was intended to be majestic. Without the wand, Spaceship Earth will return to it's former magestic-looking glory. I can respect that you did like the wand, but I am just giving my personal opinion.
I'm happy to see it go, the wand ruined SpaceShipEarth's image in my opinion. After the 2000 celebration it had no real purpose and looked completely out of place...This video is hilarious, spending time mourning over a steel structure that the majority of guests wanted down.
i like it when it said 2000 i whis they had 2001 2002 2011 but epcot was ugly when it was on the wand

The giant wand was just one step away from a giant golf club. I was glad to hear it was taken down. Now the sorcerer's hat at MGM has to go next.

They're not closing it. They're just renovating it and they removed the Epcot wand so it looks like it did back in the 80's.
