@aeronuk1 And thats a bad thing? Countries in the word are trying to build higher and higher. Because of the old buildings? than they could do it in canary wharf which is far from the historic part of london. Anyway, i dont get it, like youre afraid of progress.

@mrbusan I didn't say I was against it...I was disappointed when it didn't get permission. It was too big for the city according to the planners but as you said it would have been ok in CW. The biggest worry for skyscraper enthusiasts is if the 'pinnacle' ever gets completed as constriction has halted due to lack of any mayor tenants even though the concrete core is several storeys high

Walkie Talkie on Fenchurch is starting to be built, Pinnacle is one year in and rising and Shard is almost there.Once the Leadenhall Building is built the skyline will be breathtaking. Beats when I was a kid with only theh Natwest tower to look at.

Apart from the new building which looks like a distorted mobile phone (the ugliest building I've ever seen btw), these buildings are fantastic. I love the London skyline, it is completely original and every building stands out making them iconic or soon to be...

Good stuff London. The Pinnacle looks really elegant and that angled building looks like something out of Chicago. You'd be surprised how the most simple of designs make the greatest impact.

@TheHEADonWHEELS The Shard is fine as it is!! It will seem very tall once the spire is completed by the start of 2012. It will be like a lone gem similar to how the Eiffel Tower is i reckon. The Pinnacle will not overshadow as it belongs to the city cluster.

@SUNSET7900 no , its perfect where it is..You can appreciate the full height from the London Bridge location and you can overlook London (including the city cluster) from the observation decks/glass windows!

@will101page Oh, it will look amazing in a couple of years or so... With the city of London skyscrapers under construction, The Shard, main train station developments and other key areas being redeveloped. It will look truly magnificent...

New york had their skysraper boom in the 1930s-60s and only the odd one since then.london is beginning their boom upwards, But will never get as tall as nyc it just isnt london and that what makes our capital unique.

@TheHEADonWHEELS I don't think the Pinnacle will diminish the Shard party because the Pinnacle is right in the city [square mile,City of London,first financial district,what ever] and the Shard stands a lone on the entire other bank of the Thames.You can't not build more skyscrapers just because it will make the ones you already have look bad well unless the newer scrapers look bad but that isn't true in this case
