Is there any article better than this? help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook2-1/Hardy#More_touchpad_tweaks
I can find anything that really explains the version of ubuntu i'm using 11.10 and the instructions sound like they are not for this ubuntu! is there no easy way to set this up in less than a week?
i have win7 ultimate and ubuntu 10.10 desktop dual-booting on my partitioned HD, and i almost always use ubuntu. the only thing that i use windows for is itunes, and it pains me anytime i boot into it. highly recommend.
@analyzingfunny Iḿ having some issues first using Ubuntu .... the issue is that my mouse track pad does not work as it should ... it works but in a highly annoying way.
Is there any documentation or easy way to update all the drivers on a Macbook 2,1! I was expecting by now that it wold be as simple as a one click fix since a lot of people know where and what to get to fix the issues.
@Rusty9989 That's 3 words, and I own two tripods. Space is limited , so I can't sit behind a tripod and use the computer without casting shadows on everything. As much as I don't like this kinda setup it works for now. I need a smaller gorilla pod to do some of these videos.
Am guessing you have GMail account. The reason for "duplicated" folders is that one represents your IMAP folders (lower ones) and other represents local storage. I know it's freaky, and am not too big of a Evolution fan but it works and has tons of options. And it's ugly... really ugly :)
@mytube232 Correct it is hosted by GMail, oddly enough the thing tried to resend emails I had already sent. People were getting emails again that I sent years before hand. That's a serious issue and I stopped using it the second I saw that happen.
@DefconComputers Yeah, that is kind of a big issue and can cause quite a number of problems. I can't say I had that happen to me and am no measure by any account. Though it might be an isolated case. Still, I don't like Evolution and still prefer doing all GMail stuff through web.
I second the Kompozer as well. As much as I love Eclipse for programming (Python, Java, etc.), I've found Kompozer to be far better with HTML/Javascript. Also, if you're doing graphic work you can "upgrade" to Ubuntu Studio. What that essentially does is give you a full onslaught of 3d/2d graphics, video, and audio programs to use. Its pretty nice and the only set of programs I prefer over it is Adobe.
@Brozium That was the first thing I did when I found some of the issues, there was no article on it at the time, there is a little bit of one now, but it is still missing some pieces and issues.
I like KompoZer better than BlueFish... Here are some other tools you should try out in Ubuntu ... Linux MultiMedia Studio Ubuntu Tweak << very good K-3D GNOME Do Blender QT 4 Designer << very cool OpenShot screenlets Back in Time
@maw88ify I've gotten a few messages about Ubuntu Tweak so I am going to have to give it a go, and might post a video on it. Thanks for the recomendations.
dude why would you want to do that mac is way too better than linux! then your macbook will be put to waste, you should've just bought a cheap pc laptop and installed ubuntu/or what ever distro you're using
@IncrediguyPro In the long term, yes I will be getting a dedicated Laptop for linux. In the short term, the Macbook is the fastest laptop I have at the moment with the SSD, and dual core chip. Otherwise my old beast of a gaming laptop (from 04) would do the job.
@joshheyneke Correct it did. It seems my flash player issues are a result of the 64bit though, I've been told it might be loading the 32bit version instead of the 64bit flash player.
Ubuntu IS NEVER good! it simply sucks man. MINT is teh better ubuntu. ASK anyone who used both. Mint is just snappier / responsive alot of ubuntu bugs are fixed on it. that is wy mint team waits a month after uubuntu releases to fix all annoying bugs before release.
@Raja221 I'm about to record a new video on this, but I've taken a quick look at Mint and some folks are reporting they have the same bugs as 10.04 Ubuntu. I should have the new video up in a couple hours.
@Raja221 but mint is based off of ubuntu, mint sucks, ask another geek/expert, ubuntu is the best, if it isn't, it's still much better than mint, the only good thing in mint is, it has codecs already installed, except that everything totally sucks!
@IncrediguyPro its an improved version of ubuntu. THEY redid pulseaudio which sucks on ubuntu. they redid the video drivers which sucks on ubuntu. they redid just about everything that sucks on ubuntu.
@Raja221 i know, i've used for like 3 months, for me it's hard to install compiz and all that good stuff, and it always crashes on a pc with 512mb ram, and lower specs, which doesn't happen on ubuntu, idk to you, but for me it just sucks.
WHY ubuntu IT SUCKS. get linux mint 9 .. its based on ubuntu + codecs +flash+java + better hardware support and bug fixes. MINT is ALOOOOOOT better than ubuntu. i switched over to mint. you still get all teh ubuntu programs / packages as they are both .deb and mint uses ubuntu's repository. no point to stick with ubuntu. its eaven faster than ubuntu.
@Edgewalker001 That's my problem with Linux, there are like a dozen and a half programs that do the same, or similair thing but slightly different. So getting support on them is a bit difficult, but it gives lots of options.
I remember there being one back in the day built into a Linux installer. Not sure if the one in Ubuntu does it though.
@DefconComputers Well, with the exception of gaming I'm actually using Ubuntu for everything. I don't do any actual programming or web design so I can't say much about those programs, but the mail client, GIMP and office packages work very well.
Srry for double comment is it possible to erase disk remove Mac os and just Ubuntu?
