I have this DVD. We bought it from NZ and it was really expensive from here, $90.00NZD. Through Amazon.com. Man. But worth it! I must have watched it 100 times.
is it weird that i expected the beautiful sounds like those at 2:20 to come when i heard the banging and loudness at the beginning....for some reason i thought it was preparing me for some big beautiful loud and romantic sounds
sorta like something you'd hear when a couple ice skate
I saw her perform this weekend with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and she was AMAZING!!! And her looks have changed so much, I was surprised. She's like a model now!
OLGA KERN should be heard a great deal more. She is a superb pianist. One of many, of course, but I hope her career fares well. I like her SO much better than Lisitska, who is a pianistic genius with a prodigious repertoire, but Olga has deeper musicianship, and is a colossal virtuoso as well.
Well the award ceremony moved me to tears, facinating how tears are there for the joy. Look at the length of the fingers on Van's hands when he Hugs Olga at the award ceremony. You can get this film on Netflix, a wonderful film. I'm a guitar player myself. I suppose a guitar is like a piano a bit, with the strings and the fideling with the vibration of them.
Tome, Olga is the most worthy winner of this competition since its establishment. But don't underesimate Pompa Baldi. I've heard him and he's phenomenal.
I thought so for a sec but I think thats Stanislav Ioudenitch's wife. She was seated near him and they showed her when he won. Also if you watch the footage at the end as the credits scroll by you'll see the two of them playing with a little girl who I assume is his daughter.
I know, I'm SURPRISED that the Van Cliburn Foundation has not posted any videos of the heartbreak kid here on YouTube. Do you know where I can find any CDs of Stanislav Loudenitch? Please let me know.
Does Stanislav tour in the US? Please let me know. If so, I would love to listen to him in person. I've only heard and seen Olga in person, and her level of virtuosity was so impressive!!
Last I've heard, he lives and tours in the USA and elsewhere. He may still be an 'artist in residence' at a mid-western college. Do wiki for details. On his name, Ioudenitch has a partly French origin, he told me. Pronounced: You DEN' itch. At one time he said that he was thinking of changing the spelling because the "Iou" part puzzled English speakers, but I guess he gave that idea up.
In 1997, Loudenich had a suffered a serious accident and needed to drop out of competition. He was heart broken but after some consideration, he said he would be back.
So in 2001, he returned and was a co-winner along with Olga Kern. The Heart Break Kid never gave up! So happy for him.
That statement I made to describe Stanislav was not meant to say that he broke the hearts of others but how he had been personally hurt by dropping out of the competition. Good or bad, that was choice.
She looks SO BEAUTIFUL in that little, red dress!! Red must be her favorite color to wear, because she was also wearing a red dress when I heard and saw her in person.
...pretty much felt her leg-muscles wrapping around my ass...
