This track was actually Clint Mansell's music school Thesis composition.

Which was later picked up by the production studio's working on Lord of the ring Two towers for trailer music.

It wasnt created by howard shore at all and had no relation to the films.

Just turns out it was a piece that perfectly matched the movie.

No different than any other music track licensed for use in a trailer.

@LightMusicK Clint Mansell wrote the original for the movie "Requiem for a Dream", and is called "Lux Æterna" (eternal light).

It was rearranged for the LoTR:TT trailer and is now called "Requiem for a Tower" and "Requiem for a Dream".

IMHO the rearrangement took an already dramatic and haunting score, and made it truly epic. However both are still unique in their own way, with the original being probably one of the most haunting scores I've ever heard (fitting for the movie it was written for)
