Jimmy Page is the god of all that is rock and 10 jeff becks dont =1 page. the greatest guitarist live and in studio that ever lived he was led zeppelin and u cant compare page or zep to anything or any1 because no band and no guitarist/writer/producer etc. even comes close to their accomplishments or greatness(name any band or guitarist but none could last on stage with page or zepplin,they would be blown off stage in 20 min.) clapton,hendrix,beck combined dont = 1 JIMMY THE WIZZARD PAGE

I just went back and read all the comments here. Funny how it goes, in 15 posts, from "Two masters putting down a beautiful track" to "Your retarded ... your a frickin idiot". I love these comment areas!

What's the point of arguing about who is "the best" at this or that? It reminds me of Olympic figure skating, where you have to wait for the judges to tell you who's better. "A 9.88? Oh, so SHE'S the better one!"

Beck is great, Page is great. they're both great. Enjoy their music.

Jeff Beck went on from the Yardbirds to become one of the 2 best guitar players that ever lived. Page went on to write/produce and play in perhaps the most dominant rock band ever. They both came through fine.

I must say that i think they are both exceptionally talented artists with the ability to make the guitar sing each in their own way if not true they wouldn't be part of the guitar trinity (clapton, beck, page). I did however read in guitar world a few years back when they did a cover story on both that page said that he learned a few things from beck but by the same token beck said he picked up a few from page so who knows. i do think they both picked up stuff from clapton though lol.

What are the chances of 2 guitar players being freinds like that, and to one day not only each find their way completely independetantly to each other to becoming famous world-class virtuosos, but also lead a generation of music?!!!

i never really put Beck in the same category as Page,Beck left Yardbirds ,or had a 'breakdown' ,but the truth is he couldnt keep up with Page in the 'dual-solo-guitar' situation they were trying to realise,Yardbirds` said at the time that Beck had trouble remembering the solo`s ,and that Page`s history with studio work gave him advantage over Beck in that he had a great memory for solo`s! I think Beck just couldnt stand being shown up by Jimmy evry night!

Although personally I definitely do prefer Page over Beck, I think your conclusions are way off. First, remember Page was a student of Beck, second there was nothing in yardbirds solo's that required much memory. Have you really heard Beck?...his playing is juat as complex if not more than Page. One area Page does beat out Beck by flying colors is creativeness!

well first I think I explained about the Yardbird`s information (which I garnered from two seperate Yardbird`s bio`s)

when they had Beck and Page,it was decided to make the Yardbirds a 'dual-solo-guitar band',Beck couldnt keep up according to other Yardbirds and Becks` excuse was he couldnt remember the solos,which had to be repeated, instead of an improvisation ,this is common knowledge! Page took lessons from Beck??This Ive never read,and I`ve read evry Page bio out there.Yes Ive heard Beck.

what you're saying is totally wrong. any guitarist worth his salt can improvise and need never play the same solo twice! we are talking about Jeff Beck here! for you to think he couldn't solo along with Page is mind boggling to me! you obviously don't play guitar, you just resd "bio's" about guitarist and add your own little bits in for arguments sake!

,thats the first time I`ve been told my opinion is wrong!! its my opinion that Page was a far more creative player and songwriter,the fact that Beck could`nt keep up with Page in the 'dual-guitar ' band of TheYardbirds is public knowledge ,to back up my opinion ,o.k. so I`m not wrong.I do play guitar .However it would appear that your just a Beck fan who`s been a little chuffed

LedZeppelin`s fan base was built from "touring",playing 'live' is what Jimmy did best, "LedZeppelin " was THE band to 'see' live for about 10 years,...now Jimmy didnt mean to 'head-cut' Jeff in TheYardbirds,(after all he got him the job) but such is the nature of the beast and Jimmy embarrassed Jeff night after night in the Yardbirds so Jeff quit.He`s a quitter really .I never liked him after Slash -cut `em in `92
