I bought Panopticon on a whim because I heard that Isis were similar to Neurosis, a band that I was just starting to get into at the time. It sounds really pretentious to say, but most Isis fans (myself included) will tell you that hearing the simultaneous exquisite beauty and slashing rawness of it all is really quite life altering. I do not view music the same. The space and the layering of many simple parts to create one massive wall of ear candy is a breath of fresh air to metal.

Yeah Russian Circles is really cool. With vocals you might check out Bossk and Rosetta and Mouth of the Architect. They are quite similar to Isis. Or Neurosis, but they are quite different from Isis.
