The American People fundamentally believe in gun ownership?? bullshit. Only Hicks & gang bangers. The rest of America can use intelligence to fight back. Frank Luntz is nothing more than a manipulator and a lair for write-wing loonies
The arbitration system we have has much more to do with the murder rate than firearms. If you only criminalize coercive acts and legalize all voluntary acts the crime rate would go down as much as is humanly possible.
I always wondered, if a person is a potential risk of harming themself or others, or are charged with a crime that renders that person unable to obtain a gun, and the circumstances change in the future to being a stable person or significant time has passed since the crime, can that person have a right to bear arms & own a gun? Is there a certain process to go through?
OK so we should make guns illegal? Let's see how many people making murder, rape, child molestation, robbery and other crimes has helped, Oh call the police? Well after they beat you up rape your wife and daughter, I imagine calling the police might be the thing to do if you are still alive or have the ability to wait 30 minutes for them to arrive. NRA is citizens who want the right to not be defenseless against criminals.
Gun ownership is the most important right because in the US legal system, it is the only justification for ANY OTHER LAW OR RIGHT. For about 100 years, the Supreme Court has openly declared that force is the only justification.
Luntz runs a douche bag organization called Word Doctors. They spin studies to meet the needs of whoever pays them. This nonsense was paid for by the Criminal Mayors Against Guns. This "study" was a sham!
Gun-control laws are simpy for the pupouse of keeping guns out of the hands of children, criminals, and the insane.
Not outlawing them.
Of course the gun industry (who are the real power behind the NRA) is against ANYone being denied the right to buy a gun.
But given the make-up of the majority of NRA members, perhaps there's a reason why they don't want laws being passed which would keep guns out of the hands of the insane. ;)
The NRA is primarily funded by the gun-industry, and membered by cliniclly-paranoid gun-nuts who say that the government is out to take their guns away, and repeal the seccond ammendment.
They've been saying this for several decades, dispite the fact that there has never been a bill proposing this, brought up for a vote in either house of congress.
They can't grasp the concept of the difference between gun-contol laws and banning guns.
@SinnFein4ever Hmmm, I guess the $35 annual dues of about 5 MILLION members does NOT fund the NRA? Calculator says: $175 MILLION a year in dues. Golly where does this money go? Not the their PAC. Do they need a shot in the arm from the gun industry to offset a shortfall? Check your facts dude.
@paramedic70002 No kidding, which company can I call to get my lifetime membership dues reimbursed through. SinnFein4ever we pay for that , we contribute, we buy merchandise, we pay dues, perhaps someone misinformed you. But with all due respect SinnFein4ever, we as members pay for the NRA to exist.
Gun banners are using this BS "study" to claim NRA members would support banning guns without due process for millions of Americans on the secret "terrorist watch list". Children, grandmothers in wheelchairs, and even members of congress are on that stupid "terrorist watch list" and the fact is anyone and everyone can be placed on the list for little or no reason at all!
It is un-American to take away constitutional rights just because of some secret government list, no doubt about it.
Right to bear arms... not armaments. The United States needs control over ammunition, not so much firearms (except in the cases of assault rifles, sub machine guns, machine guns, etc.)
Coming as it does--during the Brady Bunch's current push for some sort--ANY SORT--of pro-gun-control interest--this PBS 'preview' is at best a minimizing of the intent of Luntz' commissioned survey, and at worst a duplicitious statement that really is just propaganda for the gun-control crowd.
it's all in how you ask the questions--as Frank well knows. But, behind that is the real problem of how the responders were identified as NRA members--well, self-reporting. It's a worthless survey.
Why is this charlatan Frank "Lunkhead" Luntz still paid any attention whatsoever? He's clearly proven himself to be a fraud! He's nothing but a propagandist for the Right Wing. The best thing society can do is to ignore him and his ilk so that they fade into obscurity.
@JixMa Apparently, you are paying Frank Luntz some attention if you are posting a comment about him here. Why are you not following your own advice to others by ignoring him? This would make you a hypocrite. You must feel threatened by him or you would have better things to do with your life rather than be posting comments about someone you obviously hate.
@banditontherun1024 tell me that when they come to our house and rapes or kill someone you love cause then you would say if only if i had a gun my mom or wife would be with me to hold in my arms
I've always suspected this about the average American on most issues. There are extremists and the extremists often get disporportionate media attention, but most Americans are moderates. The NRA has a powerful voice because of lots of money, but oddly the leadership is more extreme in it's beliefs than it's members. Shouldn't the NRA represent its own members?
Why the hell are we still having this MORON inflicted on us? He's pissing in the pool! AGAIN! He's a repeat-offender pool pisser! He's an "expert" for hire, and a liar.

1.71 people are murdered an hour.
12.5-285.3 people defend themselves an hour.

Who will protect you from a violent crime?
The supreme court has ruled that the Police are not obligated to protect you, which identifies them more as revenue agents.
If there was a gun ban, law abiding people would be defenseless against criminals who would ignore a gun ban... they are CRIMINALS
More people have been killed in a car...Ban the car
people killed with a ball bat...Ban baseball
people killed by drowning...ban water
people killed bears...BAN STUPID PEOPLE
