Watched your snare vids and while I have my preferences, despite different shell materials/depths, tunings, etc., they all sound similar....WHY? Your technique. I have 14 snare drums and when I record them I only hear the slight nuances and they are in regards to sharpness and depth which initially pissed me off (why did I purchase all these damn EXPENSIVE drums?) Bottom line,....a good drummer can make ANY snare drum sound good. Enjoying your videos!
Before I buy this I was wondering, it sounds absolutely great on here, but does it have body and tone, but can it also project pretty well, without massive overtones?
And what would be your top three complaints on it?
I guess do. But my 14" Ex birch snare has wicked nasty overtones and ring. Trust me. I've been tinkering with all sorts of different tuning. Nothing get rid of it.
=D iv just bought this snare!! its such an amazing sound! tested it in the shop and it just attracted such a croud! nothing to do with my playing simply the sound! i cant wait to gig with it
try to find last years model of a Mapex Maple shelled Pro M. current models are still higher. the Black Panther Series of Mapex is the top of the line but worth EVERY penny.
very nice on the sounds for the links in the info. do you have an email? if i could ask you a few questions about your recording setup, it would be really really awesome. thanks brother
hey i was considering getting this snare, i play in a hardcore/ met al band and i was wondering if you would think that this would fit this genre at all ?
I bought this snare and the first thing that strcuk me was how beautiful it is. However, it does have some minor flaws, such as the snare wires, they rattle. Just enough that if you were paying ghost notes, they wont sound like a snare but more like a tom. But if you are playing metal, GO FOR IT!!!
That's a review from musiciansfriend i hope that helps
he wood is warmer and round than the metal which has often more power and of slamming...
There are no rules at the sound level, everything depends on the quality of the used materials, on the thickness of the barrel, on the type of materials, on the manufacturing.
More the diameter of the snare drum is small more the note will be high more a snare drum is deep more it will ring loud.
I LOVE THE SOUND ON THIS DRUM!!

How would you say this compares to a Pearl EX 14" Birch snare?
flashvideomasta 2 years ago
I think no... because this snare 13" is in steel.

i just thought it look gimicy n a novel more than a good sounding snare and was wanderin do u reckomend it or should i get a different snare
jakefrancis4 3 years ago
The only problem which I have with, impossible to adjust the snare wire so that he vibrates when we play extremely piano above.
Otherwise you hear it, she rings very well and is not very expensive.
Legacyman200 3 years ago
i recorded with a snare like that. they're great!

I have a few questions...
I'm quite new to drumming
so I'm not exactly sure how
much metal drums differ from
wooden drums in sound.
So would this snare be much louder
than the ddrum S4 maple 13x7 ?
MarvinMoshaka 3 years ago
he wood is warmer and round than the metal which has often more power and of slamming...
