I'm really disappointed that every damn new plane that debuts looks almost identical to the last: Two engines on the wings. They all look like A-300 clones.
When a radical redesign of this stale template takes place, then I'll get excited
It is a lovely graceful aircraft. I love the extended nose. There is something about those curved wings aswell as appose the straight wings with winglets
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AIRCRAFT, THIS SHOWS HOW AMERICANS CAN ALWAYS LEAD IN AVIATION TECHNOLOGY WHEN WE WANT TO, i cant believe how fast it got airborne and how quiet it is, and how beautiful the new advanced wing is, all other companies will have to get behind and learn, because Boeing is definitely leading the way, they actually listened to what the airlines really wanted in a jet and came through, number one , is fuel efficiency, Boeing !!!! flying colors!!! not the biggest, but the safest
@stephenzenaida saudiarabia is always not 1 step but 100 steps ahead they will come out with somthing way better then this althow this plane is beatiful
@MapleManiac10 really , idid not know that Saudi Arabia was producing an airliner, can you tell me what company in Saudi is building this airplane in your number one country?
idk if yall notice but the wings are a lot higher than the other aircraft boeing has made. the boeing 787 is the first airplane of its kind with composite wings instead of the normal wings with steel struts and spars. when your flying in the plane you cant actually see the top of the wing. its an amazing aircraft.
do you think boeing made a big mistake and should have built a super jumbo something like a 797 Blended Wing or a full double decker deck super tube but better than airbus? i know they would be many changes but if the 747-8 top deck cabin was full length deck they would be set? i feel american and boeing lost a little something by being surpassed in total numbers sold and largest liner! w/ the 2008 finical loss it would be hard to do it now in the mist. how to you see americans future in air
@hotrod4you2 -- Actually, the 787 is the fastest selling aircraft in recent memory--maybe of all-time. Boeing hasn't lost anything. They've already got over 800 orders for it, with many more probably well on the way once they start manufacturing.
@0levi0quilliam0 -- Well that's a little bit of a stretch. Boeing's built nothing but successful, solidly-built aircraft with a very good safety record, just like Airbus. 737 is the most successful aircraft ever built, the 727 and 707's were both flown in huge numbers at their time, the 757 and 767 see lots of use, and the 777 is still one of the most widely-flown large jets in the world. I'm sure the 787 will be just as successful.
@0levi0quilliam0 -- Also, what makes the A380 "10 times" better than the 787? Just because it flies farther and carries more people? I don't see how you could append such a specific number. The 787 has its own advantages too. You sound a bit biased in favor of the new double-decker to me.
Boeing 787 is a good aircraft, well built by real people and sold abroad to get real money maybe the US government should think about putting financial resources, into this. Building things with real high paying jobs rather than putting money into banks that shouldn't be in business and fighting wars to line the pockets of those arrogant thieves in Wall Street.
@levanmescudi That is typical during test flights of new aircraft. (watch the video of the first A380 flight). they are taking things slowly one step at a time and watching flight dynamics; how flaps and gear affect airspeed and control, etc.
im a former boeing 737 700 pilot and now a a330 captain. for me boeing is best, its more flying skills instead of pushing button skills (airbus). the joystick is much more comfortable than the joke. but airbus pilots are not skilled at all compare to boeing guys. i cant wait for my airline get this airplane, no more airbus then!! atleast we can feel like pilots again and not button pushers.
A350 XWB eats the 787, its more fuel efficient and carries more people, with today's fuel price through the roof, fuel efficiency and lower operating cost is key
US based airlines are just ignorant, AA, Southwest & Continental are all Boeing only while France and Germany, the countries who made Airbus, uses both Airbus and Boeing in their Air France and Lufthansa airlines. How fair is that ???
@JundaComputersGmbH I believe its because Americans take pride in their country and support it by buying products made in the U.S.. Boeing has contributed soooo much to the evolution of flight. I cant think of anything airbus has contributed (big at least). Intelligence is the word my friend. Not Ignorance. American companies and investors on all levels of the market care about what the buy.
@flyerscout123 America isn't a self made country, its people are descended from immigrants from Europe, so every time a Boeing fanboy that says Airbus is shit and Boeing is better no matter what, it actually means the opposite because its Europeans who made the Airbus, their descendents immigrated to America and made Boeing. The A350 will be better than 787, its only drawback from the 787 is brand preference from people who hates Airbus and its a few years behind in production not technology.
at a average of 3 gallons to the mile this is probably one of the most fuel efficient jets in the world :) way to go boeing but now that you got the best passenger aircraft lets se you make the best fighter
I don't like the way those wings look. I understand the engineers know what they´re doing but I can't stop thinking about those wings (they also look like the ones on the B-777) they seem as if they were about to break in flight, if the aircraft was too heavy for the wings. They always appear bending.
@arelius1971 It seems that they are already ahead, considering they are already finished the A380 and creating the A350 which is rumored to be even more efficient and quieter than the 787.
@tauro30041976 have you seen it close up ? , if not it is not just fanastic it is one hell of a engineering achievement , i was lucky to see it in derby in the uk where the RR Trent 1000 engine is built first loop i was right under the body and then i moved to the side for the second pass.
before anyone say's anything that engine is fine it was just a problem with the trent 900.
When will it fly !in revenue service?? Will it be before the end of this century? Boeing has tried to be too tricky and lost a huge commercial advantage. The 747 was a huge project of the pre computer era. It took less than 5 years from conception to gestation and remains the pinnacle of aeroplane technology of the 20 th Century. Boeing has a history of triumph and screw ups. US commercial savvy is not what it was. Vide the US auto industry.
Safety wise, the A380 has 4 engines, easier to land if one goes bad, also, being so huge may even have a better chance of surviving a bomb detonation.
If you work on airplanes long enough, you'll actually realize that after a few thousand flight hours, they're all skydrol/5606 covered greasy pieces of shit. Doesn't matter who makes 'em.
However, Boeing birds are much easier to work on. They practically wrote the bible on how aircraft are constructed and maintained...not to mention most "standard practice manuals" are ripped right from Boeing's SPMs.
@WarmothGuitarist Who is to say that 500 is too many, if a 747 goes down the death toll is in the hundreds too. So what you say would make only sense if people would fly in groups of a dozen max... if that.
Have you got a clue of how many people driving alone in just one vehicle die each year?
I think a plane as big as an A380 may even be safer that a smaller one.
Just wait... The first time it's announced that an A380 has crashed, killing all 580 passengers on board...that will be it. People don't care about car crash statistics. People care about mass deaths in one incident. People are still horrified by the KLM/Pan Am collision on Tenerife...because it remains the deadliest air traffic/runway accident. It killed well over 500 people in the matter of seconds.
Doesn't matter how safe the plane is, because a pilot can still make errors.
A death is always a tragedy, be it 4 in a car or 500 in a plane, who is to say that 300 death on a Boeing is ok and 500 in an Airbus is not? When the Titanic sank killing over a thousand they did not stop making bigger ships didn't they?
those 2 engines are really rockin that plane, no passangers, plus the plane is made from carbon fiber....... thats most likely why it took off so quickly.
@CRM09ify Yep but there is another composite they designed and use aswell it is so secretive we will never know what , airbus do the same thing for most of the next aircraft including A400M , A380 and the A350XWB
@imbluz this is an aircraft with so many problems it's scary only thinking to travel on it. It was supposed to be released 3 years ago and, by the time it'll fly, the dealy will be of 4 years.
A serious in-flight fire in the electrical-equipment bay of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight-test plane forced an emergency landing in Laredo, Texas.... !
...another 10 months delay for Boeing's nightmare-liner... several companies canceled their orders and are suing Boeing for the delay... no more sales since early this year.... good look with this "platic-bomber"... - Airbus is up and away :-)
@volker001 Really, you post this on every 787 takeoff vid? I am a fan of both Airbus and Boeing. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. But I don't appreciate you talking about the new 787 like this. Also the A380 is grounded, not the 787.

@speedfiend74 Its Rolls Royce´s fault, not Airbus. When this lateliner finally starts to fly for airlines (which wont happen before 2012), we will see are those composite materials really that strong.
@volker001 At least Boeing actually cares about the safety of its airliners. They have put a lot of work into this bird. Remember airliners are cheap and as a private company owner I cannot stress how much a bird like this costs. If I do purchase, the darn thing better last a long time. After using A320s, I got rid of them because the electronics system was always in need of repair. I don't get that with my 737s. My 737s out last the repairs that I have ordered on them.
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 The gear is left down after talke off on testflights. The actual gear up/down test is conducted much later in flight . If you watch the first takeoff of the A380 for example you will notice that they too left the gear down for about 15 min or so.
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 yes, it is not ideal to fly with the gear down. but on the other hand if you put it up you can never be sure it will come down again. After all no one has ever flown that plane before. I can see a big sigh of relief in the cockpit when those guys put the lever back down and the gear actually does come down again :-)
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 Its a test flight, i wish airliner pilots were as good as them tho, they push the plane to the limits to create optimum standars, they dont get late. Why the wings are so thin any way, where is the fuel???
Airbus sucks look at Boeing they work so hard everyday make safety aircraft that is godly and releasing them to public.Airbus sucks they just sit there n wait for their money.Dreamliner rocks hope Virigin airlines buy it.
@Millard97 Probably not the best punchline for a plane thats already 10% into its service life without having carried a single paying passenger. It's already over two years late and has now been put back yet again until 2011.
The wings appear to bend quite a lot in flight! They appear to start off straight but then bend quite a lot as it approaches takeoff speed. And presumably in the video the plane is carrying nothing like a full payload! And it's apparently made of plastic!
Lets just hope the manufacturers have done their calculations correctly!
@karozans i think they know what they are doing how many people has the 777 killed, A330s go down in the ocean on a weekly basis boeing builds there aircraft like tanks.
@SledHeadNE The 777 isn't made out of as much composite like the 787. I know a girl that works for boeing. I don't doubt their engineering, I doubt the materials. While plastics and composite materials look good in the laboratory and the test show that they perform better than steel and Alum. It seems like they perform worse when exposed to the environment. But hey. If the 787 flies without any crashes for 20 years. I'll give it a chance and ride one.
THE Boeing 747-200/400 are the best planes ever built. i'm just old school I like four engines on my plane. the dream liner is nice..but i'd rather have the older 747200/400 just updated a bit inside and out.

yea it's a nice airplane. but the wing's have really high dihedral .i guess for short runway's to get lift fast.

joshun28 1 year ago
@joshun28 Looks a bit flimsy, those wings bend a tad too much and the passenger in the center seats may see nothing but wing from their windows.

@val4utube Yeah Boeing is so idiot that they couldn't think about it! Sigh, Come on man for God's sake. It is supposed to be like that...

@imbluz
ah..but have you seen the 747 8?
Bigredgumball 11 months ago
@imbluz this is an aircraft with so many problems it's scary only thinking to travel on it. It was supposed to be released 3 years ago and, by the time it'll fly, the dealy will be of 4 years.
ruthiehensh 10 months ago
@imbluz No no no 747 will always be the queen of the skies...

@xXShadowLugiaXx Nah that would be the 777... New planes can't be queen or princess only legendary planes...

@TheWrestlingrobot That could work. I love the 777 <3

TO ALL AIRBUS FANBOYS: A380 is an evolution of the 747B, OWNED.
The 737 is operated by over 500 airlines... PWNED.
Boeing has made 8,000 of these 737s... DESTROYED.
BTW If airbus has more safety, why does A380 have self destructing engines?
BWAHAHAHA.

...another 10 months delay for Boeing's nightmare-liner... several companies canceled their orders and are suing Boeing for the delay... no more sales since early this year.... good look with this "platic-bomber"...

@volker001 ok fan boy.....go fly around in you self destructing engine equipped A380. You might want to pack a parachute. :-)
speedfiend74 1 year ago
@speedfiend74 Its Rolls Royce´s fault, not Airbus. When this lateliner finally starts to fly for airlines (which wont happen before 2012), we will see are those composite materials really that strong.
Pvjinflight 1 year ago
@volker001 At least Boeing actually cares about the safety of its airliners. They have put a lot of work into this bird. Remember airliners are cheap and as a private company owner I cannot stress how much a bird like this costs. If I do purchase, the darn thing better last a long time. After using A320s, I got rid of them because the electronics system was always in need of repair. I don't get that with my 737s. My 737s out last the repairs that I have ordered on them.

They were late on the gear waaay late
Gottaluvoreocookies2 1 year ago
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 The gear is left down after talke off on testflights. The actual gear up/down test is conducted much later in flight . If you watch the first takeoff of the A380 for example you will notice that they too left the gear down for about 15 min or so.
fsclips 1 year ago
@fsclips Yeah I looked it up after I posted that man I would hate doing that cuz one small error and u speed up the gear is gone
Gottaluvoreocookies2 1 year ago
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 yes, it is not ideal to fly with the gear down. but on the other hand if you put it up you can never be sure it will come down again. After all no one has ever flown that plane before. I can see a big sigh of relief in the cockpit when those guys put the lever back down and the gear actually does come down again :-)
fsclips 1 year ago
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 Its a test flight, i wish airliner pilots were as good as them tho, they push the plane to the limits to create optimum standars, they dont get late. Why the wings are so thin any way, where is the fuel???
pepitodicaprio 1 year ago
@Gottaluvoreocookies2 you forget it's a test flight...

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1)Why do we love flying?
(2) Wy do we want to imagine that ocean animals can fly in the sky, especially children?
(3) Why do we like to imagine and to image aeroplanes as ocean animals? (eg. 747 = whale & 787 = dolphin)
(4) Why do we want to build an aeroplane looking like a penguin in the ocean?
(5) Why do we enjoy to image sea animals are flying at sea?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

If it aint Boeing It Aint Going !
Millard97 1 year ago
@Millard97 Probably not the best punchline for a plane thats already 10% into its service life without having carried a single paying passenger. It's already over two years late and has now been put back yet again until 2011.
At the moment if it aint going it IS Boeing.
CriticalBanana 1 year ago
This is a beauty but i honestly think the Airbus is great to. i dont see whats wrong with it?
Loukap100 1 year ago
The wings appear to bend quite a lot in flight! They appear to start off straight but then bend quite a lot as it approaches takeoff speed. And presumably in the video the plane is carrying nothing like a full payload! And it's apparently made of plastic!
Lets just hope the manufacturers have done their calculations correctly!
063209dr 1 year ago
To bad it is made out of plastic. $20 says one of these crashes and kills 300 people within the next 10 years.
karozans 1 year ago
@karozans i think they know what they are doing how many people has the 777 killed, A330s go down in the ocean on a weekly basis boeing builds there aircraft like tanks.
SledHeadNE 1 year ago
