Unfortunately over the past 2 decades, Pakistan has been bitten by the bug of religious extremism while India has simply been blown away by the wave of utter Westernization!

The result is an ever widening gap between both nations which the future generations will find very tough to fullfil if ignored at present.

@therash09 i agree, pakistani films after the 80s suffered a terrible setback. the only good thing about the 80s was some of the lively punjabi songs that emerged, their dances were good... but majority of the stuff during that era was a load of trash, in the 90s it turned into cheap double entendre stuff and has never fully recovered since.... indian cinema has only recently started going downhill i think, especially since the mid 2000s, before that they made films related to their own culture

@doosra95 yeh true, i always related pakistani films with those awful "gandasa culture" punjabi films.... they were a load of trash (except for a few, of course) - despite this, however, punjabi films were good back in the days (50s - late 70s)

pakistani film industry (urdu and punjabi) was very classy and had spectular soundtracks until the late 70s.... during the 80s only the punjabi films were average but the industry virtually came to a standstill after this point
