I grouped my licks and runs in 5 position categories:

1) vertically

2) horizontaly

3) lead patterns - same movable shape

4) the thing he's doing, with three octave range

5) random position shifts

works awesome with cataloging an ideas for improvisation

Great insight about moving diagonally across the board in all directions 5:24 "It doesn't look like what it sounds like", yeah - I never really realized to practice moving in all directions ;D Thanks a lot, John...and the video poster as well.
