  • what song did you use in this video? :)

& great vid & pictures. gave me the chills. :$

  • What's the name of the song called?

and it's pretty sad, $21,00 is being cheap for all they went through :/

  • @TheSillytuber

especially since the Japanese PAID for their own internment. All the money the government made from selling their items was used to pay for the internment of Japanese

  • Where did you get all this information?

  • Thank you, Great clip. Very useful for my History course!

  • althought this is sad the japs did alot more to the canadians living in japan.

  • @crook561 but the Canadians in Japan were not Japanese citizens, these people were Canadians. Just like Italian-Canadians, German-Canadians the Japanese-Canadians were Canadian citizens. Also Japan never attacked Canada to inter a population of your own people due to their ethnic origins leaks the repugnant stench of racism. If their freedoms can be taken away under the premise of a war then watch out your Canadian government could take away your rights in your own country. Just saying.

  • pshh this i nothing

  • this really isnt all that bad, whos gonna give a shit. check out the massacres japs did to other asian countries

  • To Japanese~

that is you guys fault! Japanese made the world war 2.

don't beg sympathy here anymore. never pitiful.

too many innocent people was dead by japan!

don't you feel any sorry to the world?

if you feel it, don't distort true history by textbook..and say true history like Germeny. that is for making a good relationship with neighbor country..

Japan's gorverment sent Korean young girls(12~39 years old)to japanese soldiers for rape. they had to been raped more than 10 times every day

  • @71021015 true very true bro/sis

  • Hey Japanese~~~

that is you guys fault!! you guys made the world war 2..

don't beg here anymore. never pitiful...

too many innocent people was dead by japan!!!!

  • THAKS sooo much for adding this! it helped soo much for my english essay <3

  • Thumbs up if you hate White Canadian people!!

  • @rsftw12 Shut the hell up! I'm an immigrant to this country but I certainly do not hate the White Canadians. They have done horrendous things in the past yes, but they have opened their arms to many immigrants and many people live a safer lives now because of them. I have the utmost respect for Canada and the Canadians, something I suggest you learn to adopt.

  • well after pearl harbour what the hell do you excpect?? this is how times were back then. those pussy bastards killed thousannds of our allies in an act of cowardence and for no apparent reason, i would have done the same thing

  • Pearl Harbor had nothing to do with Canada, but Canada followed the shameful example of the racist, socialist government of FDR, just like Canada (being a NATO member) sent troops into Afghanistan after 9-11 (which had nothing to do with Canada), and Iraq because of Dubya Bush's unlawful invasion and unjustified war.

  • I think peer pressure (but with countries) had a big affect on this. It was an American base that got attacked, and Japanese Americans that were the first to be interned. Canada interned their Japanese based on suspicion. Plus, what kind of compensation did the US give to their Japanese Americans?

  • Fucking white people. Fucking. White. Fucks.

  • @idrepublix You should asses your own race before judging another.

  • @hotsizzleakadafizz Asses? Learn to spell 'assess', before you condemn me, a non-white who kicks your fucking white ass at speaking English, the only language you, as a white fuck, can even speak.

I'll say it again - fucking white people. FUCKING. WHITE. FUCKS.

  • @idrepublix LOL I'm sorry that I didn't include one simple 's' at the end of the word, spelling mistakes do occur, even though this was as minimum as can be. Secondly I speak more than one language you moron. There is a post right below mine, and I clearly state in it that I am an "immigrant" to this country...so English is neither my first or only language. Let me guess, you must be some Oriental piece of shit that thinks he's superior ahaha. You fool, if you hate Whites so much then LEAVE!

  • @hotsizzleakadafizz

oriental piece of shit? well, sorry for supplying the world with 90% of it's food, labor and technology.

  • some people are freaking out on how bad it was and really it happened quite a while ago... let it go! its a social studies project... im even doing it right now and i wanted to see how other people did it.... it looks good!!

  • Inhumanity to other's doesn't solve anything.

I believe that the Japanese have treated the Chinese much worst than this during the WWII. I am not saying this isn't harsh, any discrimination is harsh. I think we should put our differences behind us, and learn from our errors.

  • i think what canada's gov'n did like selling their possessions without asking and the treatment of the ppl were wrong

    however, it was a war

and the video says they "only"could be Japanese spies, but the only possibitity was actually the big problem.

so, i dont think what the ppl were sent to the internment camps was completely wrong.

countries must protect their citizens and themselves so they needed to destroy any possibilities of danger

  • @gggsaber

A war that did not even effect them directly.

They were never attacked on their own soil by any Japanese soldier or plane and being "suspicious" is not a legit reason. Either you get all the facts or don't do it at all . And even if they attacked , why would any of these CITIZENS who fled from Japan for a better life ,let alone 2nd and 3rd generation Canadians, want to destroy their only home?

I deplore what happened in my home country too , the US. Face it , we screwed up.

  • @BigDogLtd

But I'm glad we learned from it so we didn't repeat it after 9/11 because we as a global people need to be better. There'd be no way in hell I'd let the government throw anyone of racial or religious backgrounds into those concentration camps and I highly doubt it many people would be for it as we all know at least a few people of diverse backgrounds. Would you want your best friends ,their families and friends , rounded up like cattle into these camps out of your fear? Thats all

  • @BigDogLtd

But, when you think of history, you must get yourself into the situation.

Like i said before, at the moment the camps were needed to protect the other citizens but it could save even the Jpn- Canadaians from violence by the other citizens, if gv didnt do wrong.

i think the gv did too much like confiscating their possessions, and conditions of camps were fucking bad, and the way was wrong also.

For us, who live right this momment, it was unbelivable, but think of the time.

  • @BigDogLtd

first, Canada, Vancouver island, was actually attacked by Japanese navy( damage was not serious at all.

second, i didnt say it was a legit reason, and never justify the Canadian governmant

this sad fact was terrible, i never argue about this.

  • shows the truth of racism, that is why I fight against racism of all humans.. we need to learn and help each other

  • Seriously people. How can some of you say "Oh we weren't as bad as *insert name here*. It's not a big deal" ? I'm sorry, but that's fucking disgusting. Cruelty is cruelty and no matter how you look at it, it shouldn't be condoned. The fact is, we as canadians screwed up royally. Just because so and so was supposedly worse doesn't mean we deserve a hero cookie.

  • It was war.

How about we take a look at the interment/pow camps that where run during the war in japan?

    .......didn't think so..

  • How many people can forgive, and go forward without anger.Stressing the good in humanbeings, and the potential of peace in humanbeings furthurs the mind toward peace.

  • 美帝国主义 灭亡!!!

  • im not saying that this was right at all, but comparing them to concentration camps.... i dont think so. correct me if im wrong but come on.

  • The attrocities Japan commited against the Pacific is far greater (even though these families were born in north america) compared to what the governments here did to the so called (spies) in the 40's

  • Japs, you fo real?

don't you remember making sashimi (literally) out of Australian and American soldiers piece by piece while keeping them alive?

    Japs have serious delusional mania

  • @keitketsudaze they weren't japanese they were japanese-canadians (canadians but with japanese background). and not to mention it was the japanese-americans in america. that's why the japanese-canadians/americans had the hatred towards the 'true' japanese because they started the war and had to be locked up like that

  • @HardBonezFederation you're right. those japanese-american and japanese-canadians do have "betrayer genes" from their betrayer ancestors who betrayed this beautiful country called nippon-koku. i saw alot of japanese-americans talking shit about the japan, their own roots! like mike honda, who suggest japan to apologize about the comdort women which US don't even involved. that's why we only accept 'real' japanese because they're such betrayers and haters.

  • Some Canadians still do racism. One day i was walking on the street with my japanese friend and a middle aged man suddenly hit my friend, and he dropped his coffee, the man was hit my friend deliberated then my friend yelled to him.But he didn't turn back and just kept walk forward.

Btw even i'm not a Canadian, i'm from middle east but he hit the japanese one lol

  • @bangoramas

First of all, I am Canadian.

Clearly you are an illiterate moron because, as anyone could tell you, you do not "do racism".

Secondly, no one I know of in Canada is prejudiced towards Japanese or any other race. The man obviously was just an asshole, or woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Yet we Canadians are not perfect, I thought you should be a tad more educated on our great country. This coming from a simple 16 year old in Ontario.

    Kthanks.

  • @bangoramas Its called a "Jap-slap" very VERY popular thing to do to Japanese people back in the day. out of the blue they just slap u, no warning, no nothing. *SLAP*.

  • I would like to know how Canada treated German or Italy origin people during WW2 in Canada. If they put ONLY JAPANESE to concentration camp, then CANADA was pure rascist country.....maybe still is?

  • Canada's treatment of Japanese-Canadians was far worse than that of Japanese-Americans. And to this day, Canadians still bash Americans.

And what about Canada's refusal to allow the SS St. Louis to dock in Canada so that Jewish refugees from Europe could be safe from the Nazis? It's disgusting to see many of my fellow Canadians put themselves and Canada on a higher platitude than Americans when Canada is just as guilty of human rights atrocities.

  • @AcadianCanadian fix your wording.. Canada is guilty of human rights atrocities... they are not (just as) guilty.... that was many years ago when Nazi parties still existed in canada and the jews and japanese were given prejudice

  • @AcadianCanadian Yep, you forgot the "CHINA-MEN HEAD TAX" on the documents issued by the official CANADIAN Government All chinese of Chinese decent were officially called "CHINA-MEN".

I think u should know by now that Canada's legacy is to embrace the FRENCH & fade out the orignial NATIVES that lived here. Cree is almost completely dead now.

  • @AcadianCanadian Damn well said, A lot of Canadians still bash the US and feel that are higher than us when in fact, they just as bad as us. All countries have bad and good thing yet the US still get's shited on because we get more publicity than any other.

  • @AcadianCanadian fuk u scum canada is the greatest country on this earth, rot n hell

  • I have relatives who fought against Japan in a brave but failed attempt in the defence of Hong Kong. The ones who survived told me about the horrors they faced in the years to follow in the POW camps and death marches, both civilians and soldiers being given the choice to feed on their dead comrades or die. I chose however not to hold any grudges agianst Japan and its citizens today. I am willing to forgive them for the actions of their anscestors and I suggest you do the same.

  • As a Canadian I admit this was a grave injustice and not our proudest moment. However to speak frankly, it is time to let it go. It has been 3 generarions since this happened and you are stigmatizing the current population into feeling guilty about the actions of their ancestors in which they have obviously no control over.

  • @Easyrider1414

I quite agree fellow Canadian :)

  • @Easyrider1414 this was so popular in North America that a new phase was coined "JAP-SLAP", spook with an old guy. He tells me back in the day, in Highschool on the annivesary of Pearl Harbour, it was "SLAP-A-JAP-DAY" as simple as it sounds. The smart Japanese would be smart enough to not go to school on that day.

  • @Easyrider1414 agree. but we have to remember the past to keep from repeating the same mistake. in America after 9/11 there were ppl who asked why we don't just round up all the Muslims in the country and put them in camps.

we should look back in history objectively, without pride or guilt that rightly belong to others and look at the present with history as our teacher.

  • @Easyrider1414 very true. but we should still educate our youth about some of "bad" and less heard of things our country has done in the past, so we can learn from them. after all we dont want to become like states and never learn anything from our mistakes.

  • @Easyrider1414

plz say that to Korea and China

  • @gggsaber Well Korea and China is a different situation. Many japanese people openly admitt that unit 731 (Who did their horrible experiments on white POWs too) is a lie to "hurt the japanese pride and people", and that's why I think this video is ridicolous, what japanese people did in their concetrationcamp were not just discriminating people but was sometimes worse to the treatment of jews and russians in their concetration camps.

  • its very sad that the mistake of the individual is the blame for everyone... :(

  • About 43,000 of the 110,000 interned were citizens of japan and therefore enemy aliens. this is most of the adults. Almost all of these enemy aliens got here illeagaly. By international law these people did not have to be convicited of

anything to be interned or relocated. All countries at war did the same and japan did much worse.

It was required by the geneva conventions in part for their own protection. The remaining were dependants, children and young

    adults with dual citizenship.

  • This post is misplaced the information

    contained applies to U.S. internmemt.

  • Does it really matter who else did what? We are still responsible for our own decisions & actions. We know that human behaviour at times of threat - actual or perceived - can become reactionary and irrational. My hope is that we will not forget this part of Canadian history, teach it in elementary school social studies, and learn from our past behaviour, both as individuals and as a "civilized" nation. Lets not blame each other, but learn to live together.

  • japan didint do worse are you kdiding me? first of all say military ebcause citizens have nothign to do with it. I think testing a nuclear bomb and see the affects, then droppin that on a highly dense civilized area is wrong. your fucked

  • it is cuzz of shit like this, asian people will do well in other countries. in the states, asian ppl., make up only 5%, but make up 50% of all medical doctors. in japan, their GNP is only second to the USA. china is not doing bad either, their are #3 in all GNP. asian people do well, this is why we hold our heads high & be proud!

  • GNp isnt such a great way to measure countries though. only shows riches of cars and houses and so on. it doesnt show education, homeless, crime rates, etc. i can go on but im sure you get the picture

  • im not trying to justify any of this but $21,000 was a lot of money back then concidering the average person back then made $7,000 at most a year

  • did you know thw total wages lost by all japanese internees was 443 million? the government only recompensated a total of 12 million :l not to mention the suffering, it doenst even cover the lost wages. I did this project, and made a video too, not as good as this one tho (:

  • @SupaKawaiiii U don't think the government is stupid. Obviously they are going to pocket ALOT of the money. When they do apologize, 60 years later, well guess what the people that were effected are already DEAD. So that makes it easier on their end, so they can pretend like they actually care.

  • love the background music =]

  • Even if "a jap" unfortunately born in the USA, he should go to Japanese embassy and get Japanese citizenship. Otherwise, he will be the 3rd class US citizen who has no human-rights. White cops won't shoot the japs if he has a foreign passport, but they will shoot the japs born in the USA and the third class citizens of the US, just like the guy shot and killed in the BART station.

  • Reminds me of apartheid South Africa.

    Mans inhumanity to man.

  • Japanese in Asia during the war put thousands of europeans into Camps, beat , raped ,killed ,work to death thousands ... NO Japanese were killed, raped , beaten in the camps in N-America .. Guess who was better ?

  • Uhh.. ya bit of a difference between those two situations.. Namely that the Japanese interned were American Citizens interned by their own government. The Japanese in Asia was killing & interning peoples who were not their own citizens...

  • American Citizens born in Japan mostly immigrants from Japan along with Japanese born in America ...

  • eh, I'll have to look into that claim. However, there is no better in this case imo. Both were horribly unjustified.

  • Canada, America's secret strategic bitch for five decades and counting!!

  • I like the song thats playing in the background =)

wuts the name of it ??

  • Their are two songs... the first one is kiss the rain and the second one is love hurts... both my Yiruma.

  • stop whining and get off welfare japs. :P

  • nazi called us a nazi.

  • Show me your rage!!

  • Saying they weren't much better than concentration camps is just ignorant, other than that it's sad that that happened.

  • see thats why i`m not prawd too be canadian I love Japaneses ppl i even hade a Japaneses girl friend if I was alive in that time I wood have beat the shit awta all the ppl who did that too Japaneses ppl if you dont believe me go see my channel and see haw I love japan
