  • I love the voice of brian May. Very strong in this song! Queen's a legend, and Freddy was a God!

  • its about traveling in light years and coming back to earth and everyone you know has died . i always cry at this song ( i dont cry at much) a turely remarkable song.

  • This made me cry as if it were the first time I heard it. Good job!

  • Queen forever!

  • Great job...thanks for this

  • I just ran across this video. Awesome job! I'm familiar with this song as I have the album. I didn't get it at first until Brian sang, "oh so many years have gone though I'm older but a year" and then I knew he was singing about time dilation.

Brian May, who wrote the song, has a PhD in Astrophysics by the way...

  • I love this song. It cracks me up every time I play it for someone. I always ask them afterward what it was about. No one ever gets it. Time dilation FTW.

  • i could see that you werent skilled in it but good job anyway :)

  • RIP Ailn Ramon

  • lol fucking firefly!

  • ..nice..

  • 0:42 RIP the astronouts of columbia

  • Its a very popular song nowadays.

  • Roger Taylor is not a girl. he is more of a man than anyone else.

  • @ben5leto lol, nice.

  • like this

  • Great song. the pictures whent verry well with the song.

  • Nice video for a classic tune!

  • realy nice

  • you should look at the bohemian rhapsody to see that the hight notes are taken by freddie.. brian and roger ..

  • Great job on this video!

  • NOOOO THIS BRIAN MAY NOT A GIRL HAHAH

  • who is that girl?

  • Kaylee from Firefly (Jewel Staite)

  • where are no girls u r retarded

  • Haha :D

  • roger taylor is not a girl, he just has a high searing quality in his voice

  • You just don't hear many folk/rock songs that are based on the human problems created by the time dilation you'd experience when travelling at 186,000 miles per second... Brian May is a genius. The only song I can think of that qualifies is "Benson, AZ" from the movie Dark Star.

  • Well yeah, but the twin paradox isn't anything new. There even is an anime that uses that as it's gimmick. Anyway, yeah, good song.

  • Your First attempt??? I'd call it a raving success! That is so kewl! I was wondering where didyou coule up with the rocketship? It falls right in there with the theme of the song.

  • Thanks for that WolfeBear - The Rocket was a great find, especially with the clocks and cogs. As you say it fits perfectly with the time dialation theme of the song. I just searched google for space(ship) images.

  • This and Love of My Life are my two favourite Queen songs - beautiful.

  • mint :)

  • Long Live Fredy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brian wrote and sang the song...

  • I know this already!

  • sarah

  • who is the woman at the end?

  • Jewel State - played Kaylee in Firefly/Serenity

  • Ahh, a fellow Browncoat! Keep flying, comrade!

  • thanks for taking the time to put the pics to the words. brilliant!!!

  • god god good god i love this song---queen are the best band ever!

  • Well Done! you have given a good performance for your first attempt and you have fit it well to a queen song that i love id liek to see more queen songs be done becuase i would suscribe

  • I think this has to be my favorite queen song. It's a song that really draws you into it.

  • This is one of the few songs that Brian was better at singing.

Freddies versions sound ok, but you can't beat Dr.May here. :p

  • gr8 video, gr8 song, gr8 voice!

  • i really love this song.you dont hear too many songs describing the events that happen when you travel at the speed of light.

  • i cant believe that the music today is more popular than classic music like queen , queen is my all time fav band and i think they were formed before i was born

  • the scary thing is that this sounds even better live

  • LinkBulletBill, the song in question is the Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, by Led Zeppelin. Roger Taylor seems to have borrowed a cue from Mr. Bonham on the drum track for '39, eh? No worries.......all of us drummers are plagiarists to some degree or another!!

  • thats just wrong. This is such a pretty song, very sweet.

    Smile.God loves you

  • drums remind me of a song from Led Zeppelin, acoustically, something Stomp...

  • You know the world sucks when 'solja boy' gets like a thousand times more views than this =(

    Truly brilliant song =)

  • Amen.

  • No kidding

  • I know...it's horrible that people are disregarding beautiful music for that "Soulja Boy" crap. No offence, but this song puts it to shame...

  • @121snake121 solja boy is just a clown that is famous today and then he'll dissapear into a couple of years ,

and this song is what i called ART and Real Music !! omg so inspire me so much !!

  • Very good collection of pictures :) although Brian sings about conquer of earthly unknown lands, maybe some day "land our grandchildren know" will be the one beyond our planet :) Anyway love it :)

  • well, that's exactly what he's singing about. This song about conquering and colonizing the space, not about some geographic discovers or WW2.

  • This might be my fav. Queen song! The amazing thing is it was never released as a single

  • but it was a B.side for you r my best friend,

    I think

  • it was but it was also just a b side......and on night at the opera....and it wasn't released as a radio single, like Boheiman Raphsody or your my best friend

  • I'm healed , allthought "your hand" is changing thorough the year(s), thanks to queen& erkr

  • This was my friends favourite song!!!!!

    may he rest in peace!!!!!!!!

  • you do realise this is brian may singing this version and the version on a night of the opera. Freddie only really sung it live

  • Although at Queen and Paul Rodgers Brian sang this live but then Paul joined in if I remember rightly. As did most of the crowd

  • true comment but the live after freddy passed at expo 96 along with steve vai

  • Klasse Song!

  • a space country!!!!!long live the queen!!!

  • the best song written by Brian..

  • Great job erkr, excellent slideshow to really great song...and ditto IceBerg, Queen's best stuff really never got any air-time...but hey, we've got youtube and people like erkr keeping this stuff alive!! Thanks again

  • thanks!

  • i think that it is sad that it is not considered one of their greatest hits ....... THIS SONG RoCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • QUEEN IS THE BEST

  • this is my all-time favourite Queen song. I know it was "only" the flip side of something else, but I think this was one of their best.

  • indeed

  • queen have so many great songs, that the wide audience doesn't know.this one is like listening to bob dylan!!

  • awesome video. one of their best songs imo

  • 2:38--I KNEW there had to be other Kaylee lovers out there! Browncoats forever, may our show return, hopefully before 100 years go by!

  • Brian May described the song as follows:

It's a science fiction story. It's the story about someone who goes away and leaves his family and... because of the time dilation effect, when you go away, the people on Earth have aged a lot more than he has when he comes home. He's aged a year and they've aged 100 years. So, instead of coming back to his wife, he comes back to his daughter and he can see his wife in his daughter... a strange story

  • Brian was right into Physics. Song was bout spaceship looking for new rold, but the faster they went the less time that past for them, so in the end a few years had passed for them but hundred back on earth, so their loved ones are all dead, and their descendents left

  • There's special relativity for you.

  • It still astounds me the way he described the song on a documentary about the album, and seemed to be blissfully unaware that the concepts he was speaking about (time being relative to your speed comparative to the speed of light, etc) might not be common knowledge to the audience. It was both supremely sweet and deeply unsettling.

  • well, he would have been the next big thing in british astro-physics if queen hadnt come along :P

  • Those notes Taylor hits are eerie.

A beautiful song, such a shame it's not better known.

  • Nice Job!

I did a video with the same song.

  • i love brian may

  • dont you hear me calling you!!!!

  • Really cool video man. I'd say it was a smashing success!

  • LEAVE SPACE TO ME.

  • This song was written about a long trip into space...I STILL LOVE IT!

  • i love this song!

  • well, it's a nice song

  • No matter who wrote it, Queen and Mercury will live forever.

I heard this as a kid and today my kid listens to it :)

    Freddie, long live the King.

    Meet you somewhere, sometimes...

    The story tellers say...

  • the song has been written by Brian May who is one of the Gods of rock as Freddie was for the whole music. Queen is the best because she has been founded by four kings.

  • I have to say that this is the first song that I like without knowing the backgrounds of the song. Now I do know, thanks for the info below, but usually when I first hear a song, I think about the message in it. Especially in these kinds of songs.

But when I first heard this, I found this very catchy and funny, but most importantly well played song.

Queen really does have some "funny" songs. For example this song ('39), but also Radio Ga Ga and Bicycle Race.

  • Beatifull song...I love Bri xxx

  • I like this song better when Brian sings. WHen Brian sings it, it sounds so country! And fits this song so much.

  • i love this song it is very beautiful

  • it's about timetravel. amazing song indeed, typical queen. listend to them all of the time when i was a kid.

    thx!

  • This is probably the most underestimated song ever! I like this song more than bohemian rhapsody. The pictures fit nicely with the song, even if I don't know what the lyrics are all about...

  • They're about someone leaving somewhere on a spaceship faster than the speed of light, and when they return everything and everyone that they love is gone, supposedly.

  • Strange indeed...thanks for the great explanation. One of the not so known Queen songs, but one of my favorites.

  • hermoso

  • Beautiful

  • Great job! These astronauts and cosmonauts [like we call 'em here in Russia] are one of the most brave people in the world. Just imagine if you are sitting in a tin can millions miles away from Earth invading all this internal darkness and coolness of cosmic space... Maybe it's not so clear nowadays but I believe that one day their hard work will help humanity to colonizate space. Thanks for your work once again!:)

  • Didn't those people realise this would happen, they must have known what they were getting into studying physics must be an entry requirement for traveling at relativistic speeds. In a Joe Hadelman novel two lovers use this effect to catch each other up in age, my lover is 8 years older than me, I wish she could go on a journey like this so I could catch her up.

  • its really kl i did 1 like this lol come n c 4 urself

  • love the song!! the images were a little too literal, though. but not too bad!!

  • Great choice of songs..and the space theme was cool ..but y did you waver..all in all its pretty good first time..good work

  • I liked it, although I think you should have tone down the use of all those weird transitions between images. Simple fading away would have worked just fine.

  • If I did it again, I probably would. Was experimenting with different effects. Missed a bit out of the video sequence and got some wrong. More a learning curve than a finished product.

  • very good job

  • bestbestbestbest song, but just some of us know it.unfortunately. and i'm so happy to find the original of the song. thanks

  • Yes, it's a great song. One of my faves, even if I don't quite get what it's all about...^^;;

  • Wow, you mean I am not the only one who is crazy bout this song by Queen? I thought I was the only one who gave a mega hoot about it! Thanks everyone for validating me here!

  • I agree with jhendrix2004 - Best Queen song ever !! I went 20+ years without hearing it. I much prefer this original version, with Brian singing his own song - the way it was meant to be.

  • Nice Job.

  • Brilliant song. Brian's song are usually fantastic.

  • Best Queen song ever!!!

  • this is the first time iv'e ever heard the original of this song. you did a good job, nice pictures

  • Great images to go with a great rock ballad.

  • cute pics good job^.^

  • Great Job.

  • is that the challenger crew in this video?

  • Replaced as I realised my reply probably wouldnt make sense. There would appear to be images from more than one mission used. Note the Japanese and Israeli flags. I've no idea of the names of the shuttles involved.

  • one of my favs

  • Great song!!1

  • well done, and excellent choice of music, I might add. Ms. Staite would be flattered, to be true.

  • I love this song =]

  • Nicely done! But who was the woman in the pink blouse at the end (& also earlier?)

  • Thats Jewel Staite, she played Kaylee in Firefly / Serenity.

  • She also played Catalina in the 1996 TV show "Space Cases".

  • I've never heard of that series. Dont think it was shown on this side of the pond. Was it any good?

  • Love it, love it-nice work mate:D
