I have been practice Karaté Shotokan ( JKA and JSKA) since my 4 years old, and one thing i've learnd was that all Martial Art is good, so the quality of Martial Arts depends from who practice!!! Not from Martial Art himself...

@GamingPro2 Taekwondo has a different range which is making it a lot easier to kick, kyokushin karate is mainly close quarter fighting. That makes TKD look a lot flashier :)

What kind of karate is this? This is kyo, or not? It's like judo with shotokan kicks without any control (OK, it's full contact, I know). Not realy effective... you just need to get closer to do these technics, and that I won't allow for nobody. You shall see this instead: /watch?v=3oQ5ROZC4Yc

@tywainwright1 In all street fights I was, karate worked well for me, specially against boys who do 1 year of muay thai or jiu-jitsu and think they can bully anyone.

@MestreInvisivel I have done Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu as well as 2 forms of Karate. At my Karate dojo some of my classmates thought Jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai weren't effective, 2 out of 3 of these classmates were higher rank than me, I showed them both they were wrong. The people you fought most likely were just saying they did it to be cool, so many people do that.

La cosa drammatica è che non possono neanche definirsi Karatechi. Il karate di pinna, benetello, biamonti, lefevre...è il vero karate agonistico.

@JackEakarach yes. That's typical kyokunshinkai style. Direct punches (tsukis) to the chest but circular strikes (uchis such as shuto, haito and uraken) and kicks in the head. Even kakato geri has been banned after several serious injuries...

For every decent tournament fighter, there are 10 real karate ka, who wouldn't dare diminish the art through this sort of grandstanding. I think these competitive tournaments are the worst sort of poison; undermining the principles set forth by the originators. guess I'm old fashioned.

What kind of Karate is this? There is the WKC where they wear gear and go by points. And this one is by take down?

@joshsiow Yes, this is traditional sparring (how i know it atleast) and is for takedowns, when i spar for takedowns we dont wear any protection either, we only wear protection when going for points.
