Interesting how when they killed off most of the rest of the staff on this show, they were usually a 1/2 episode or so, sometimes one full one. They knew she was a special character, so they gave her a fitting departure.

Personally, I think the writers either really liked, or really hated Romano, because he got the most exciting death. I mean, he get his arm slice off by a helicopter, then when he goes up to get something from the helipad he gets a panic attack, so he goes to the ambulance bay where a helicopter FALLS ON HIM AND KILLS HIM IN A FIERY EXPLOSION.

I think that this is where EVERYONE liked Romano. Though somehow I get the feeling- even though it's a show- if Benton had worked on Lucy- she would have lived and Carter died. THAT WOULD HAVE SUCKED. I'll take Carter over Lucy any day.

If my memory serves me correctly, Kellie's sister in real life had been battling Lupus, an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own tissues (auto means 'self'), and Kellie's sister actually passed away from the illness not too long before deciding to leave the show. She was apparently too upset for that role and understandably so :) May her sister rest in peace. So young too.

@laxman522 : Actually her career has raly taken off afterwards, though not as an actress. However, Kellie Martin has meanwhile become a well renowed TV director. I also read something, that a directing job she was offered gave the final bit to her decision to leave the show.

i remember watching this episode in 6th grade and trying to hide the fact that i was bawling my frickin' eyes out. i think everyone on the cast did a great job in this episodes. it is one of my favorites to this day.
