haha - ummm, no - well, no 90% of the time. Most are very curious about my lifestyle, since it's rare for a man of my age (over 35) to be single and live alone, especially out here in the inaka. They are constantly amazed I do my own laundry, cook for myself, etc.
A common question from Japanese men is if I like Japanese women - maybe they want to know how they rate on a western scale. :)
Hey Jason, new subscriber just wanted to say hey and thanks for these awesome videos!! I won't be going to Japan this year but I'm hoping to apply as soon as I finish my degree. It's great to hear about this kinda stuff anyway and it's nice to know for the future!
Your videos give the best insight into someone in the JET program. Pretty much the best videos out there, great for me as it's something I plan on doing in the future. Your videos don't get enough attention haha can't recommend them enough!
Comments, like this one, and ratings help these vids show up on some lists and be seen by more people, so thanks for this too. I'm glad that the people subscribed are getting so much out of these vlogs. :D
Ja my first time in Japan some friends took me to a Izakaya, it was so much fun, but soon japanese language became a lullaby for me ja I became so sleepy, I was'nt drunk but I slept in the table jajaaj!
When I heard my name mentioned I said "holy crap", paused the video and called my boyfriend and said "Guess what, guess what, guess what!!!!!!!" I got alittle giddy. ^_^ Can't wait for the FAQ vid! As always you rock Jason!
I always have to take my pants all the way off when I use those squatters... I've tried, like, 6 times to make this less gross, btw. The other sentence I was gonna say was worse, though!
First off, I thought it was cool that you mentioned my name in your video. My fiancee is sitting behind me and was like "Did he just mention you?" I think it's cool you're going to put up your old videos for us. I will of course watch those videos and comment on them like always. Another great and interesting video. I have a friend who told me to keep an open mind when I went cause it can be overwhelming. Looking forward to your future videos.
yeah - if I had to teach 6 shogakko classes, my voice would be shot by the end of the day. But my JH classes are much more mellow, and my voice is fine with some drinking between classes.
Thanks for writing down beforehand the list of things to be discussed! I really do appreciate these small changes that make your videos all the more enjoyable. :)
I think one of the things I would not be ready for if I become a JET would be the cost of fruits and vegetables. I don't know how bad the prices are in Shimane, but when I visited Japan (and we went to quite a number of places), their fruits & veggies were super expensive compared to North America. I need my vitamins!
Knowing how to use squat toilets is an extremely valuable survival skill, in case you're ever at a train station out in the boondocks. 'nuff said.(*^_^*)
hello! i like your videoposts! it brought me more knowledge of japan and i think you're incredibly sexy! xxx

I had a really hard time with this too, but now that I am back in the USA I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE how cold every building is! It is so wasteful!

The summer heat is tough, even without humidity. Never before have I experienced sleep deprivation, I couldn't doze off without a ventilator.
An FAQ Vlog is a good idea I think.

Wow! Shimane must really be in the country. I lived in TOKYO without ever having to squat at a toilet for 2 whole years! gokuro sama :)

47 prefectures in Japan, and Shimane is usually tied for "most rural" prefecture with neighbor Tottori.

Also, not sure if this was asked before, but don't you lose your voice after teaching 6 classes? I would if I were to talk all day...

Although the information you provide in your Vlogs does not relate to my personal needs,
I've been watching them to brush up my english listening skills. Thank you.
ALso, I thought your students are so lucky to have an earnest English teacher like you! I wish my kid had a teacher like you!

Thanks. I've had a few other comments like this one saying that they're watching to practice their English listening skills. :)
