My Fav Pogues song. I think the Blackshirts are refering basically to right wing racists and this guy who who is a drunk and fighter beats the hell out of them which is one thing I like about the song.

Blackshirts were a group of Italian facists from world war I and world war II. 'Yids', when used out of apprpriate context, is racist slang meaning Jewish people. Which is how the line 'Decked some fucking blackshirt who was cursing all the yids' comes about.
