aw man, she messed up 2 times trying to roll the ball up and down her arm, and she accidently dropped it at the end when she had to go into a chestand :(
So dynamic! One of the best routines I have seen from her. As always, she carries her grace, but this routine provides a fabulous edgy feeling. Even with the mistake, outstanding!
i love that routine, its definitely the best bessonova routine ever! and i just admire all gymnasts whom just go on when their apparatus falls or they make a mistake. anna is the best!
needs some editing here... i noticed that she does not do backsclae turns and back split rolls... the fouettes are her trademark but that's not enough to outperform the russian girls... she has to add backsclae turns and back split rolls to be at par with these rusian girls... kanaeva does it so as kapranova so she has to keep it up...
*Scratches Head*. Out of all of the elements in the Code Of Points, you are saying Anna should do Backscale Turns, and BackSplit Rolls in order to keep up? Thats rubbish. Anna is using her high Difficulty Pivots in this routine to make up for her lower Difficulty Flexibilities. The first Pivot has a value of 1.1, and the Fouettes are 1.4. Anna doesn't need Backscale Pivots, which we know she struggles to execute. Her Triple Back Illusion is more expensive than a Backscale Pivot.
Besides, her Ball technique is incredible. She needs to tidy this routine, and Im sure it will be more polished as time goes on. Just because Evgenia and Olga bend their trunk every two seconds in their Ball routine doesn't make it anymore difficult. All of Anna's Flexibility choices are highlighting her lean, long oversplit line. She has better charisma, better expression, better performance, and better technique.
maybe your right that she has to do those elements that will compensate to her LACK of BACK FLEXIBILITY... but of course we want to see new things and you don't always want to see fouettes in every routine that she does... its getting stale she has to add something new and explore other elements... i rarely see her doing backscale maybe adding those elements will have an upturn in her difficulty scores. and i think the fouettes and the pivots are not sufficient enough to outperform others...
For the record, Anna has only just introduced straight leg Fouette pivots into each routine. She did them in Ribbon last year, but not in another routine. She has to compensate for her lack of back flexibility, as the Code has stripped the decent leg flexibilities. Triple Back Illusion is new for her, as is the Temps Fouettes, (Series of leg kicks). She did Backscales in EVERY routine in 2008. She has taken those out as the Values have dropped dramatically.
A standing Backscale Pivot of 180 Degrees, (That Anna did in every routine last year) Has lost its Value from 0.6, to 0.4 in the new Code. Last year the top Gymnasts needed an average of 0.6 an element to reach a starting Difficulty of 10. This year it is over 0.8. So why would Anna do a Backscale Pivot that is half of the average Difficulty she requires, when she can do Flexibilities that she can actually execute? And that is a basic Backscale Pivot. We know she can't do a 360 Degree rotation.
the fact that she can't manage to pull it off (the backscale turns) does show the downturn in her difficulty last year... still i do rarely see her do more back flexibility... and besides its still her first competition though.. her ball routine is promising indeed let's just see how her fouettes and pivots match the back flexibility that the russian girls does most espescially kanaeva's.
Yeah lets just wait and see how they compare. I'm not trying to sound arguementative over this. I'm just trying to explain my point. But the reason we rarely see her perform Back Flexibilities is because her Leg Flexibilities are more likely to be counted; Which at the end of the day is more important, as most of Kanaeva's are counted. So its a case of playing it safe with the Flexibilities, or you end up out of the podium. She needs to be that threat to Kanaeva. =)
it boils down to ending up in the podium... yah i do understand your point... much better to do things which your good at that will be counted yet not forgetting to explore new elements... and i do appreciate your knowledge about the intricacies of rhythmic gymnastics. it'll be much better for bessonova to execute every routine beautifully and as clean as possible to be a threat to kanaeva (,")
i loveee anna bessonovaa and i think she deserved to winn. in her routines, she looked more graceful and it fit the music and u can wee dance and facial expression. she did a fantastic job even here. except for the drop. she is still amazing. better than kanaeva i think.
This routine has some great parts - the front walkover catch, the fouettes and several of the traps - but it doesn't seem complete to me somehow. Still, this is her first competition for the season, so she can only get better.
her penchee spins are beautiful!

i wish she wouldnt tap the floor in her illusions
maddyure1 2 years ago
Its because she didnt want the illusions to be counted as D1 theyre value is only 0.10
Splitleap 2 years ago
but since they are an 'a' can't you do them without them being counted towards d1, plus if part of a risk I didn't think they had to count.

That first pivot is fantastic, but to many mistakes here.. If she can perform this flawless, than this routine will be quite extraordinary.

back scales which Starts from the floor +
turn, with or without help does add 0.7 and if matched with
back scales standing + turn,
with or without help adds 0.6 and would much be better if she adds some throw

There the values from the 2009 Code Of Points for a 180 Degree turn.
