Yes! I'm sure I'm the zillionth person to say it, but thanks so much for this. It's infinitely easier and better than the way I was trying to do this before. Cheers.
hi mama im one of ur fans...ur the best! i had adobe photoshop but just don't really know how to use them all yet...i been watching ur tutorials...and it helps me a lot!and i wish someday i can be the one of ur models...wish u can do my face a the best makeover...thanks...take care!
The color stops are on the bottom of gradient preview rectangle, the transparency stops on the top of the rectangle. You click to select them and type in the opacity amount. 0-transparent, 100-full opacity.
Shan, this was an amazing tutorial. The final result was very artistic. Thanks for sharing your great skills with all of us. Your explanations are also extremely clear. You are a very gifted teacher. BIG THANKS!
I mean I'm no expert but I'm also not a begginer. Most things you teach I already know but thanks to the fact that you go through each and every single step in your tutorials I've been able to learn more tricks, and short-cuts, and stuff. So keep doing what you are doing ^^
Mama, as one of your first fans, I, as well as do many others, know you are the best. Don't let this x6767 get your goat!
Tell x6767 to let us know where we can log into its show so we can see its warp speed teaching techniques. Jealousy, jealousy, jealousy!! Petty, petty, petty!! I have Deke's tutorial and his book, he's good, but I can follow you better. George
Thanks Mountavila, I appreciate that but he did have a valid point...I do take a while to present most techniques...but that's just my teaching "style." Deke is like the grand-daddy of Photoshop! His style is different than mine, which is great because it appeals to some folks just as mine do. I think there's room enough for all kinds of "teaching" and "teachers" in the digital imaging world. Again , grateful that a few folks like mine.
I hate to disagree. Deke McLelland needs 8 hours for Photoshop CS3 Essentials in about 65 videos and 9 lessons, so 1 hour to explain a water color effect is in my opinion too long or like this one with 14 minutes.
But if you think they're not too long, fine, I just share a different opinion.
You know what, ive watched many tutorials here in You Tube, Mama Shan's tutorials are the BEST!!
Clear, Easy to Follow, and Crisp in Details.
In my Opinion its not the Speed that counts when making tutorials, every teacher has its own style, every person has a different techniques, on how to deliver and share their skills to others.MAMA SHAN (tutorials)will always be our fave...Thats it!!!
Just because you don't like the comment, it's suddenly not constructive?
I'm saying you do things the hard way. You don't need 14 minutes to explain this and neither do you need one hour to explain a water color effect in one of your tutorials that you even call a "quick tutorial". So you call that non-constructive? Oh well.
It seems as though you just created a new account and are trying to be my nemesis, in that you've been perusing my tuts and trying to be negative. I don't understand why you continue wasting your time watching stuff you don't like, obviously I'm too long winded for your tastes, so move on!
Thanks at least now it's constructive because you stated that it was the 14 minutes it took to explain the process. If you're looking for vids that are quick and skip over steps, there are plenty of other Channels that would suit you better. Maybe you are already an expert and don't NEED the extra attention to detail. I would have the same frustration watching my own vids...but they're geared more for those who don't already know.
Has nothing to do with the fact that I'm an expert. Check out what Deke McLelland manages to do in 8 hour Totaltraining courses and he's still considered by many as one of the best teachers a beginner can have. I'm just giving you an advice, that's all, feel free to ignore it mom.
Deke is an excellent author and teacher. He has a different teaching style than me, and so, just keep watching his vids. My style goes slower, I don't talk and move around as fast as Deke. Isn't it grand that there are different strokes for different folks? Your opinion is valid and the plug for Deke's vids is fine, too. I'm not changing my teaching style because of 1 person's opinion. Thanks!
Arghhhh 240p. I can't believe we used to watch this quality!

Thanks for your help :).
