  • So the it is a standart 2.5" sata hdd? Thanks man, I 'll put a SSD on that bitch.

  • thanks for posting this vid. i was able to successfully repair my daughter's asus after referring to your video. my problem was a defective lcd ribbon cable. i unpeeled the layers of tape and sheilding around the cable, soldered a broken wire back together, then reassembled. your video is directly responsible for me saving the out-of-warranty repair costs. plus, the cable i repaired saved me $50 in parts. that was an expensive piece of wire i fixed.

  • lol@ "I hope I can put it back together."

How come you didn't show us how to put it back together on this video?

  • quick question does the cables and connectors differ from a normal computer? like removing the keyboard/touchpadd cord, it seems u can't fully remove em?

  • i need help !!!! i can't screw one part of the bottom part !! PLEASE HELPP ! :O

  • Many thanks for this video. My son just lost a microSd card inside the chassis ( he forgot that reduction for SD-microSD is not in the slot inside :-) ). Whoops. Now how to open absolutely new notebook?

    oncemore again, THNKX.

  • the cover for ram

  • how u take off the cover wtfff?

i cant take off the cover fuck this bullshyt

  • спасибо Вам!

    не знал, как снять клавиатуру.

  • there is some glue under the keyboard so use some force but be carefull, 6 screws! 2:22 unplug by pulling the black upwards, it will turn uppwards or just pull in the blue thing uppwards.

  • I have an Asus eee pc model 1015T. I want to upgrade the memory to the maximum i can. The specs i received with the netbook say that it will take a maximum of 4gb of memory. It only has one slot for memory. Will a 4gb stick of memory work in this model netbook? thanks.

  • Hey I Have a question. can you put more than 2gb ram?

  • @DR217G no

  • thanks

  • hello,

wheres the cpu? and what cooler does it use and what material is the cooler made of? thanks

  • hello, i.m sorry my english is very bad.

    my name is julian,

I have a problem, one has fallen down to me the netbook and the entry has broken gift plugs in the charger.

since I can do to repair it or to disarm the netbook

    thank you

  • can you upgrade the processor since you can take it apart ?

  • @333irani333 No you can't, its soldered down.

  • The video was very valuable. It's always good to know what I'm getting into ahead of time. Additional notes:

    - the tabs holding in the keyboard can be pulled away from behind where the battery was with a small flathead screwdriver

    - there's some doublesided tape holding the keyboard down, I had to apply a little bit of force to pull the keyboard off

    - all ribbon cables have a little lock holding it in place that flip up or pull out.

  • exactly what i needed, thank you very much!

  • Good video, important hints to see how to open my 1001P.

I wanted to replace the 160GB with a larger one. I bought a WD Blue 750GB (9.5mm high) and made a copy of the 160GB HDD with Ghost. After watching this video it was no problem to change the HDD. Now I have a 750GB-HDD in my Netbook!!! Yeah! But it's a bit strange that the warranty will be void just by replacing a HDD!

  • Very informative, but still can't figure out why ASUS still can't make HDD changing as friendly as some of the other offerings such as Acer Aspire One or Lenovo ideaPad S10 as well as some of their past eEE PCs too such as the 1000.

  • Great video, though I wish he had taken apart it live instead of working backwards.

    I have two questions:

    a) After taking mine apart and putting it back together, the keyboard no longer works. I believe I plugged the cable back in properly. Any gotchas or things to check with regards to the keyboard?

    b) I wasn't able to take off the main part with the 6 screws, even after using the credit card to technique to pop off most of it. Any tips or gotchas on getting off the main part?

    Thanks!

  • @tcima79 lol he says there is 7 not six thats why u cant get it off

  • Thanks, this helped me get my hard drive out, just bought one of these about a month ago and the HD failed, so I said screw it and threw in an SSD. I probably would have broken the plastic pins if I had tried to take it apart without watching this video.

  • great video.

  • DDR2 800 is 6400, not 5300. Which type of memory should I be getting -- 800 or 667?

  • @Everon42 well 800 is faster, soo.. 800 if the netbook you have will support it.

  • @Everon42 it doesn't matter because PC will automatically choose it's maximum possible run mode which is 66Mhz. I have 2 GB 800 Mhz Gaming RAM from Corsair and it runs perfect.

  • Great videos of the 1001P. I just bought one last night thanks to watching your in-depth. I use photoshop and play CS on my desktop, so the ability to at least open and do some things with it, that seals the deal.

  • Any word on swapping the hard drive with success?

  • @illnacord Yeah, it was easy after watching the video, do like he says, use a credit card to push the little plastic clips back, if you look closely you will see what I mean.

  • Have the 1001P upgraded to 2gb's and now uninstalling the numerous junk preinstalled programs (my cover almost broke because it seemed like it was glued down even after backing out the single philips screw:

    - MS Works

    - MS Office 2007 Trial

    - MS Office Language Packs

    - Skype 4.1

There are pre installed games, need to figure out which ones are which so i can remove them as well. May just do a clean install with XP SP3.

  • Do you have to take it all apart like this to upgrade ram, hdd etc or can you access that from a back panel?

  • Nope.. You have to totally dismantle the whole thing to change the hard drive. They've done away with the easy-access back panel. I have the asus 1000HE that I got in October and I wanted this one because it's 2.7lbs and mine is 3.2lbs. But now I'm thinking of keeping the one I have. There is no reason for this. And there is no reason you should have to void your warranty by changing the crapy Seagate Momentus hard drive.

  • @confuser69 Mine was a Western Digital Scorpio Blue, not as crappy as Seagate. I might just see if I can get a replacement since WD has a warranty on their drives. Then I can sell the new one and keep the SSD I put in.

  • It's a single screw that holds an outside panel, instant access, swapped out chips in 5 minutes.
