You cant sneak around like some movie when patrolling. The idea is to make contact while maintaining a decent degree of noise control. If you sneak around you will be lucky to cover a kilometer or two a day.

walking in the open is risky. why not a filter patrol! same principal as a Japanese Filter Attack. infamous on Guadalcanal. make use of those bushes and dips in the land. moving at twilight is ideal.

Yea but more British soldiers have died from American friendly fire, than Americans, Brits and all of Nato have from Afghan Army friendly fire.

So does that mean that the Americans done it on purpose? of course not.

i think everyone would agree that the afghans certainly need helicopters but yet there not permitted to use the ones they have, the british helicopter fleets at the moment is dealing with alot of threats and when 2010 comes where the army size will double hopefully the death toll with drop and when the supposed 11,000 american troops join the struggle for afghan freedom

i believe that america do have UAV and helicopters in afghanistan, but the UK and are at the moment majority, but with more troops needed it might change, give thanks to the british RAF and AAC for there hard work over the skies of afghan, may we kick some ass

Afghan national army is small but quite loyal, there are plenty of people who hate the Taliban in Afghanistan. Might be a different story in Iraq though...
