wrong...dyno dynamics reads the lowest, they're accurate which is y they're over a 100k, but the main purpose of a dyno isn't to see how much power u have but to see how much power u increase with mods
This dyno is still an epic fail, a fan blowing near the TMIC will not replicated the RAM air the IC gets on the road. It's like blowing up and air bed with your mouth, INEFFECTIVE!
Actually its not. This was done in both ways and this method yielded the best results. I see what your saying, you think it would work best hood closed but it sure didn't.
This is true going down the road but ask anyone who has consistently dyno'd this car and they will tell you a large fan directly in front with the hood open works best. You still get a lot of heat soak on the 2nd and 3rd run but its still the best method to dyno this top mount intercooler. Luckily there are many FMIC options available for the Speed 3 now.
only 230whp? and 270ft tq? mine put down 254whp and 274ft tq and its completly stock.. but that was the first run =D then it died down the 2nd run lost hp and tq :( went to 254hp and 258tq to the wheels!! bone stock.
I'm now at 253WHP and 288TQ with the CPE EMS And a good tune ;) I'm guessing you did these pulls on a dyno jet? Those dyno's will always show much higher numbers than a dynodynamics Dyno, thats why they call this one the heartbreak dyno. Its extremely accurate though and the best one to use IMO. Oh yeah and the heat soak is really bad on these cars, FMIT will be the next mod for me =)
Is that a type of intercooler? Intake? I know they put in the roof scoop to counteract this. Heat soak is not something I've heard much about. Great ride though, it's a beast. Sorry not good with the acronyms frount mounted intake or something.
did the race pipe make ur exhaust louder?? nice loud or bad ?? i have a ets 3.5 intercooler and mazdaspeed intake on 94 so my power is prob around the same. wut race pipe would u recommend?? i love the stock exhaust sound, so i plan on keeping it
I don't have the test pipe on anymore, I removed it b/c this made it smoke at idle. This was due to faulty turbo seals, quite common on the speed3's. I put the Cat back on and it was gone. Shortly there after though I purchased the CPE EMS though and now have close to 300pds of TQ at the wheels so I'm still pretty happy with the car to say the least ;)
Wow, its going to be even louder when the engine explodes. The engine's power takes a severe nose dive after 5500 rpm so taking it past there is pointless. I now have the CPE standback (ems) and have it tuned at 18 psi (253hp/288tq) but still tuned it with the same power band as Mazda designed with (to be on the safe side).
Yeah Mazda has the MS3 rated at 263HP at the crank but this is at the wheels. I believe the Mazda MPS is the Australian version of the Mazdaspeed 3 (same car different badge). Again if this was done on a dyno jet (or similar dyno)it would read much higher power output but they are not near as accurate.
You can't see it but there is a huge fan in front of it, heat soak was very apparent on the 2nd and 3rd run even with the fan though. TMIC will be a future mod for sure.
even with a huge fan in front, the air is NOT being directed onto the TMIC... -.-
that's why there's all that ductwork on the underside of the hood to force air through the TMIC. Next time get a small fan and just place it on top of the TMIC.
Piasiniengineering 1st for the second time to do the reflash on Mazda MPS - Mazda speed3

The info says that the dynodynamic reads lower than a mustang dyno !!!!
Nothing reads lower than a mustang dyno!!

lol they leave the traction control on at the end, i think your right they don't know what they're doing.

Is there a good ECU edit/flash tuner for these vehicles?
NINETWENTYEIGHT 3 years ago
CPE, XEDE and Cobb eventually :)
computersupport 3 years ago
Cobb is really having problems with its tuner... some people are loosing power

You gotta leave the hood down....thats how the intercooler gets it's air...does anyone realize this

The intercooler looks different. Is it factory? or did you just remove some of the plastic over it?
sirdon88 4 years ago
Its factory, just without the plastic shroud. I plan on getting FMIT when a good kit comes out. Cobb and CPE are both working on one right now.

yea why didn't you put a fan over the TMIC?
That probably affected the readings... FAIL!

thats not bad for stock, even considering there was no air for the intercooler after multiple runs...

dyno dynamics is the best dyno there is. nice numbers, what are your mods?
demok 4 years ago
I dynoed my Dodge SRT-4 on the same dyno. Good dyno. Did 304hp
dtbrown1978 4 years ago
bhp is usually 20-40 more than whp.
