This is my favourite ad.. have tried to find the music ever since.. (without static). One of those ads I will never forget for some reason.. Master Cylinder you are a genius- went to your site- thanks for letting us know :o)
audio jest zrąbane i po pierwsze nazwa Jetta obowiązywała chyba na rynku amerykańskim i po drugie w Europie nazwa handlowa tego samochodu brzmiała Bora
I was commissioned to write the song for VW by their ad agency , Arnold Worldwide, VW USA technically owns the song. I was asked to do a long version as part of a CD giveaway at the time as well. Search my name on bandcamp to find the link. Links aren't allowed in postings.

Does anyone remember a car commercial in the late 90s or early 2000's with a retro car going by a guy and girl driven by a woman, and then flashforward to the present of a car driven by a older man passing a guy and girl?
there was a song like this that had lyrics to it and i cant remember what is was,it dealt with mid life crisis or something like that. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
Wrong! The 1.8T engine in the earlier cars had 150 hp, then was increased to 180 in later (2003+). If that wasn't enough, you could also get a VR6 with 174 hp and that was also increased to 201 in 2003. And don't forget the diesels! The torque from them will slaughter, *!!SLAUGHTER!!* any Honda.
Wow, that was quite a while ago I posted that comment.... Well actually, I went 2 the place & told them I wanted the car but wanted to take it on a test drive to show my mother. The guy gave me the key, I tried unlocking it & the alarm went off, he did not have the remote 2 turn it off either, He said that I shouldn't worry about it & it will only alarm for a few mins each time I start the car......I was like "this cant be serious" they tried to unhook it but couln't, I got a 2000 neon instead
ouch, if that was the only serious problem with the jetta, i would have just gotten the alarm repaired and had a nice german ride. now you're driving a dodge neon, that sucks man.
35 while flooring it everywhere. i thought neons at least got crazy good mileage. so they look stupid, cause people to think you're a fag and dont even get amazing mileage?
its not really all that impressive. if youre going to get a 4 banger that looks dumb and doesnt have any get up and go you might as well get a 90's saturn. at least it wont cost anything to buy and itll get even better mileage. without hypermiling it or anything foolish. though i guess i should ask if the 35 is city or highway. and any civic ive been in is getting closer to 40. besides an si.
Excelente automovil, de lo mejor, muy aguantador, excelente ensamble, nunca se descompone, buena potencia, buen torque, la mejor cajuela de su segmento, buen espacio interior, buen nivel de equipamiento.

YES!!! I believe there are two versions of this commercial. I remember at the time knowing there were two, but I can not find the other version anywhere.
Anyone know or seen the other version? It was the same but a different end...
I've got about 5,000 copies of the long version on CD sitting in my closet. Theywere supposed to be dealer give aways. Nobody really uses CDs anymore but the spot's art director did a cool cover for it.
thats right!! I remember finding that song on Napster back in the day lol.. but I had forgotten who it was.. and why would 2 people give you thumbs down on this post.. crazy people.
Thank you for posting! I have been searching for this commercial for a long time. This is the only commercial I have ever seen that I actually enjoyed watching and never tired of. Then again I was in college in Ca at the time and let me tell you this was even more enjoyable high as a kite...
Incredibly well made. This is one of the very few commercials that did NOT get on my nerves no matter how many times it was shown on TV (which was pretty often as I remember).
99% of the ads on TV start to irk me after about the 4th time they're shown (if not the 1st time). If more commercials could be as subtle, understated and interesting as this one, I might not be so quick to mute them or change the channel when they are shown.
The music is by me. I wrote it in 1999 for this ad as a commission by VW's agency Arnold Communications in Boston. -Peter DuCharme aka Master Cylinder
Everything about this commercial is perfect. This is the '99 Jetta. I went out and bought my Jetta the year this commercial came out so the commercial is almost 10 years old.
Did anyone recognize the woman in this VW commercial as "Nina", Jack Bauer's counterpart in the TV show "24"? I know the man is also an actor, but I cannot remember from where.
I remember this...I love that song they're playing. It popped in my head yesterday and that's how I found this video, lol. I love the car too! The new ones are ugly.
"The soundtrack for the Jetta ad was composed by Pete DuCharme of Somerville, Mass., who was given the assignment from Arnold Communications creative director Lance Jensen after the spot had been filmed. DuCharme was specifically asked to write the music at 94 beats a minute. The cadence, it turns out, of a brisk walk ... so that the physical movement in the ads could be in harmony with the chords.
It's a real song - available on an album called "The Classic Chillout album" - but it was created specifically for this commercial by a guy named Phil Ducharme (Master Cylinder is his D.J. name).
Just like I remembered it!
