  • @MixChick4ever the documentary was not asking or demanding for mulatto or mixed race or white or middle eastern descended Haitians to rule over anyone the documentary was about who they are as people and how they identify as Haitian. i suggest you watch it and then make up your mind about what rights a mulatto or biracial person from Haiti should or should not have.

  • What richard brandt forgets to say, is that his family is behind pretty much every coup d’etat that happened in this country, just because these governments were elected by people.

  • @cosa545 his name is pasha not richard and please tell me about what coup his family started? maybe watch the documentary further and see what pasha has to say about genralization and how easy it is to play the blame game and attack people simply because the their skin color or the class of society they were born into.

not everyone who is light skinned or who comes from wealth plans coups.

  • @ForgottenFaces001Leading the struggle are the Mevses and the Brandts, two wealthy families which opposed Aristide and supported the military regime that overthrew the priest-turned-president and his democratically elected government in 1991, just seven months after he took office.

Now if you want to talk to me, you can do it now. I am not talking about light skin, I m talking about those opportunist who really hold this country down backed by corrupted government that they’ve supported.

  • @cosa545 and i am not talking about opportunists or politics you are. i am afraid you have stumbled across the wrong video this documentary is about culture, heritage, history of past migrations from different ethnic groups within Haiti and how their anncestors identify as Haitian and what makes Haitian culture what it is.

no one interviewed is part of any political regime. people interviewed are musicians, book publishers, bathroom tile sales men and shop keepers, hoteliers, artists,

  • @ForgottenFaces001 Oh really it seems like you forget your own work. I am not saying they were part of any regime or government, do not try to go around of what I’ve wrote unless you do not know haiti very well, which I do. I said these families, and this is a fact have always supported corrupted government and brutal regimes in order to maintain their way of life, and control every business sector in this country. nobody blame they fact they are haitians, THEY ARE,and they have to contribute

  • @cosa545 enjoy the documentaries. i will continue to make more as i continue my work in the west indies and my home in Haiti

  • @ForgottenFaces001 well, I respect that, so do I, but on a different side. Help the government to make economic reforms that can help and take the country out of mass poverty, and make sure haiti is not only the good life, beaches, mountains but also a country that needs schools, universities, hospitals, roads and so on, and all these things cost money and where we gonna find the money ? from taxes, from rich, poor, middle class, and goods that we sell abroad, just like everywhere else.

  • I am Haitian, I wish Haitian can live as one people either you are White or Black or mulatto we all one people God bless you my friend thank you for educate people about are country.

  • @richard33596 God bless you richard and thank you for taking the time to watch this project

  • @ForgottenFaces001 face it you don't have a clue know anything about Haitian history

  • @thugishism please tell me what i am so wrong about maybe an amazing internet troll woops i mean scholar could help educate me and the public. all in al this is not my opinion or ideas on caribbean history it is the thoughts and feelings about Haitian culture and color lines as told by Haitians of european and middle eastern heritage.

  • @ForgottenFaces001

go study Haitian history before you put crap on the internet

  • @thugishism most likely the reason you find it to be ((crap)) is because you have never heard the story of migrations of european and middle eastern descended people in Haiti. if you watch the documentary it could help you learn a side of Haitian culture you that you are unaware of.

  • @ForgottenFaces001 it is complete crap

go back to the root of the problem first

  • @thugishism sure thank you for your very ((educated and insightful feedback))

  • Hebrewmatrix- I think your tone in this conversation is not helping at all.

  • I'm a black/native/white mixed middle class American. At my first college I had many problems with black Haitian upper classwomen treating me poorly because of my mixed heritage. I knew a bit about their country because of old high school friends, and tried to explain to them about how blacks and natives shared space and culture here. They would harass me. I left the school.

This segment of the doc is most interesting to me, because I want to understand the roots of such hatred. Thanks.

  • @ThePurpleSeahorse you are welcome i did my best to address these kinds of mindsets and it was not easy getting people to speak openly and honestly on such topics i am glad this is something that helps people understand because i worked hard at getting to the root of such issues

  • HAITIAN IS A NATIONALITY NOT A RACE

THESE ARE DIFFRENT RACE OF HUMANS

    CAUCASIAN-RACE WHITE

    NEGROID-RACE BLACK

    MONGOLOID-RACE ASIATIC

  • @hebrewmatrix he reason i made this project was to say that your race, ethnic heritage, and skin tone does not make you Haitian and yes i was paying homage to all the ethnic groups who have a history in Haiti that few people know about or accept as haitian but i was not trying to say anyone one racial group or ethnic group was better than the other. i just wanted to celebrate other ethnic groups that rarely get mentioned in Haitian History and media. thank you for watching

  • @hebrewmatrix so sorry the RED does not exist!

  • THE BLACKS FROM AFRICA THAT WERE OPPRESSED BY WHITE EUROPEANS YEARS AGO HAS BECOME THE OPPRESSOR IN HAITI TODAY...TO BE HAITIAN IS NOT A RACE. IT IS A CULTURE,HERITAGE,NATIONALITY AND LANGUAGE THAT ANYONE OF MANY RACES CAN BE.THE HAITIAN CULTURE IS BEAUTIFUL. TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT. HAITIAN CULTURE IS A MIXTURE OF THE AMERINDIANS,AFRICAN,MIDDLE EASTERN AND JEWISH FLAVOR SO THATS BULLSHIT FOR SOME OF THESE SELFISH BLACK HAITIANS TO THINK THAT IT ONLY BELONGS TO THEM.HAITIAN IS A NATIONALITY

  • THE BLACK HAITIANS TODAY ARE AFRICANS THAT DONT HAVE EDUCATION IN THERE BACKGROUND...THERE ARE ALOT OF BLACKS THAT CAME FROM SIERRA LEONE,CAMEROON ETC.. MOSTLY POOR PARTS OF WEST AFRICA THAT MIGRATED TO THE ISLAND CLAIMING THAT THEY ARE HAITIAN AS WELL.

  • that's THE PROBLEM WITH THESE PURE black AFRICANS THAT STARTED TO MIGRATE MORE IN HAITI..THEY THINK THE Algerians, Syrians, Lebanese Palestinian that came, born in haiti or intermix with blacks can not be Haitian...who they think kept the country beautiful in the 1920's to 1950's. it wasn't all the black Haitians it was mostly middle eastern descendants that keep the peace in haiti.some of these stupid ignorant black Haitians that had no education at all were the War-Mongers like the Macoute

  • @hebrewmatrix are you even Haitian?

  • @hebrewmatrix in the 20’s and 50’s you kept the country clean, is that right ? do you know when middle eastern started to immigrate in haiti ? which country you’re talking about ? p-au-p or haiti, because we have two republics, and if I remember the vast majority of these people is in p-au-p where all the problems are. I don’t think these blacks are that ignorant because they fought to create this country that your parents could immigrate, when no country did not want them. we’re taking note

  • Thank you so much for this video. I am a biracial haitian and it seems that these guys are speaking about my experiences as a haitian living in Haiti. I was always asked where I came from. Even in the states and here in Australia, I still experience this tension and non acceptance by darker skin haitians. It's like you have to prove yourself. Again thank you guys for making this video about Haiti's white/biracial haitians we exist and we are part of the fabric of Haiti!

  • @thoretita i am so happy you appreciate this project and my work, i am glad you got the point of this project and i hope it continues to make many Haitians like you feel proud. i hope i can make more projects like this in the future

  • Please people show some love. whoever is doing this job-I like it. I am a black Haitian. I always fell like Haitians tend to forget that the revolution was done with the mulattoes, the blacks and some whites. These videos is helping us to remember history and to resurrect the unity we have lost. Without the help of everyone, we cannot move forward.

  • @slanda2o thank you slanda2o i am glad you see that i was trying to make a positive documentary. i intended to make some level of unity but in the end i can not control peoples reactions. some people will watch my films and see the good i was trying to do others will watch it and feel hate. i am glad you see the good thank you.

  • May I respectfully ask you which government agent you work for? I am not being sarcastic or funny. It is just a question of where you would find SCIENTIFIC research to justify the so-called racism and discrimination you allege. This is UNTRUE. These countries are base on a racial hierachy passed down from slavery and and very much base on a class system. Huuummmnnn

  • @caribbeandiaspora i do not work for a government agent and if you took the time to watch these videos you and you have a proper grip on reality you would see that, the video shows examples of racist mind sets but let me help you understand what racism is here is a definition Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race ethnicity or nationality are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities Racism's effects are called racial discrimination In

  • @caribbeandiaspora Racism's effects are called "racial discrimination." In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or receive preferential treatment

  • @caribbeandiaspora Racism's effects are called "racial discrimination." In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or receive preferential treatment )) end quote - we touched on these topics the fact that people deny people of other racial backgrounds are country men or part of the country and will not accept them, and it is to bad i did not mention the 3 times the arab community was expelled at gunpoint i would call that racism.

  • @caribbeandiaspora you know what? I don't know much about this project, i am watching the videos to find out, but i must say.... I see the validity of your point. there is definitely a class system reflecting that of the colonial times. it is as plain as day. With so much rationale behind the discrimination of the wealthy and light skinned MINORITY, in a predominantly poor, black population... it is still hard to come by, for the exact reason you stated earlier. You're right on. For the record.

  • @itsmek8e so now it is ok to judge all haitians based on the color of their skin? what ever happned to your comments on my first video with lines like (( what we need is love sweet love))

  • Regarding your comment in the video description stating "Who are these people? How did they get here? What is their "story"? How do other Jamaicans and Haitians feel about them?". I am not sure if anyone every ask such a question as we know they got there through involvement in the slave trade. By being slave masters. You are giving the impression that these minorities are oppressed which could be further from the truth as they live off the proceedings of slavery & still hv the plantations! HTP

  • @caribbeandiaspora none of the people interviewed were part of the slave trade, most have there roots well after 1804 from the late 1800s and early 1900s well after slavery was abolished, the middle eastern community of haiti came as peddlers with very little money, the Germans came as merchants, and the new french business class came to run business, things like hotels, banks, ect. and never did i say the minorities in Haiti are oppressed, you said that not me.

  • @caribbeandiaspora i am sorry but many people ask the question who are they where do they come from ect, it is obvious that you dont ask these questions hence the reason you live under the misinformed mind set that all white and non black people in the caribbean are slave masters,

  • @caribbeandiaspora the person who made this video doesn't know anything about Haitian history

  • although i don't have a white skin tone but i'm light skin.....i have this same problem when i tell people i'm Haitian they look so surprised. most people think i'm Dominican because of my light skin but all i know i am Haitian.

  • @daphy2012

well daphy i know the frustration this can cause and that was one of the reasons i made the documentary Haiti is not a race it is a country and nationality, yes peoples typical mindset is not uninformed, yes most Haitians are Black and mainly and in many cases wholly black african heritage but that does not mean whites, asians bi racial people, light skinned people who think of themselves as black cant be Haitian, light skinned people have heritage just as long as dark skinned people

  • FASCINATING DOCUMENTARY... Wish you could get it on PBS, but they are too liberal, right? "Only whites can be racist"....

I heard there were about a million indentured servants/white slaves who were brought to the caribbean/barbados... that is a forgotten history too. "rednecks" - that's where the term comes from.

    GOD BLESS!

I met a 1/32nd black white guy (blond hair, blue eyes) from St. Croix...

And there's that one small island in the Caribbean (Nevis?) that is half white/black.

  • Also Haiti should focus on industrialize there country and focus on agriculture. Once they build a stable government and economy they should not allow America or un to occupy them.

  • @HatersNations

i suggest you look up charles henri baker, a presidential candidate for Haiti, he is all those things but being Haiti is Democracy it is up to the people to vote in people with the vision you and baker speak of

  • Haiti well get better over time. In a couple of years its economy should rise about to 100 billion or more of GDP with the support of other nations.

  • @HatersNations

i would like that to be the case but i hope you understand that Haiti has been facing the economic problems that it is in now for over 30 years and it has gotten worse and worse since the 1980s , many nations have been pouring aid and money into the country and there has yet to be a change, Haiti needs stable business to create a self sustaining economy

  • @ForgottenFaces001

Sorry i have to tell you haiti has a corrupted government. Haiti needs a stable government to have a stable economy. I would change the government of Haiti to a democracy or something more stable that monitors the prime minister and president. But that would take years and it would be hard to accomplish but Haiti needs to change there government.

  • @HatersNations

Haiti is corrupt!? i had no idea! now i know why i made a documentary speaking of the corruption that has afflicted the nation of Haiti!!! thanks for helping me realize that, Haiti has a democratic system, a very corrupt democratic system, and some Haitians would argue that the form of democracy that Haiti has is what is ruining it. the government has been changed countless times in fact haiti has had countless constitutions drafted.

  • @ForgottenFaces001 Dude don't get so offensive i've done my research. Plus i said haiti has a corrupt government. Haiti has a Semi-presidential republic I'm just saying there government gives the prime minister and president to much power. They need to change it therefore by doing that we could look to a stable economy by having a stable government.

  • @HatersNations

dont worry i was not offended nor was i trying to offended you i was kidding,

as far as Haiti changing its government system there has been talk about that with several future presidential candidates, but you need leadership that can make a change, and much of the change falls on the shoulders of the people not just the government,

  • @ForgottenFaces001 thanks for making the vid and i believe haiti has a bright future they just have to work hard to get to it.

  • @HatersNations

thank you hope is what keeps people going

  • oh ok. I was searching for information on the chinese immigrants who came to Haiti because well, all my uncles, my dad and me look like we are asian. We don't know much about our ancestory so I'm just a assuming that we are of chinese descent.

  • @auskayue

you know many marab people who have there links to the tianos and early nativo people have asian traits as well.

  • do have information on the chinese descendants of hait?

  • @auskayue

Again i am working on making a documentary on the subject, i regret that it will take a little funding to do it and i will need support to do it, i plan on making one asap,

my next documentary has many interviews and information on the chinese of Jamaica, if you would like you can go to my webiste on my channel, there is a link to fractured atlas they are my fiscal sponser and they take donations for my projects that will help support these films, feel free to check it out.
